Sentimental gush. Does Cloti hold some sort of significance or meaning to you in real life?

For inst. some cleriths like their ship because they lost a gf or close friend and identify with clouds loss after aerith died, so relate their own personal experience to the ship.

I feel like we wouldn't be having debates about cloti if it didn't resonate with us personally somehow.

I have not failed. I've just found 10,000 ways that won't work - Thomas A. Edison

I have to admit that Aerith and Clouds relationship seems more natural and realistic. Love can be unexpected and that its okay to have your heart broken if your first relationship isnt working out. It's a part of reality.

Whereas with Tifa, it's kinda unrealistic. Though I support Cloti all the way. I myself can admit that Cloti is a little cliche; "childhood friend". I think majority of Tifa fans just want this type of love because it's the perfect fantasy.
Not even remotely true, I've been with my childhood friend for years, it's no fantasy, nor cliche or stereotypical! Honestly I find contrived fast paced romances completely and utterly unrealistic and unbelievable. There are things such as infautation, obsession, and lust but with your long time friend you can know what you have is truly pure. Thats my own experience with love, at least.
Sort of getting the impression that people feel like childhood friend and passionate romance are mutually exclusive, especially when it comes to cloti vs clerith.

What's your take on that Sesi?

In the fiction I personally don't see how Cloud's behavior was any less passionate or romantic with Tifa, he still rescues her like a shining knight any time she's in a pinch and because he really wants to. He goes out of his way to make her happy. He flirts with Tifa even more than she flirts with him. A big chunk of his self validation comes from Tifa's positive impression of him. I believe his passionate lust phase came very early, like around the age when he saw Tifa in her cowgirl outfit, and that we tend to forget about it.

I agree with Stella's sentiment about first love, wouldn't it be so nice if things ended up working perfectly with your first flame, even your second or third one. For most in reality they are said to date on average 12-15 people before they find one to really click with.

I think it depends on the person or the situation, but saying childhood friends turned lovers is unrealistic is what I take issue with, it's somewhat hurtful when you consider it's my entire understanding of personal romance. So I wanted to contest that bit is all.
