The first video game console I had was a Sega Master System and I used to love playing games like Alex Kidd, Wonder Boy, Dynamite Dux, Teddy Boy etc but when Sega created Sonic the Hedgehog they replaced Alex Kidd with Sonic as the main mascot and sadly a lot of the other game series they had were all discontinued. This was one of the things that myself and many other people believe lead to Sega's demise as a game console company and while I love Sonic the Hedgehog and have nearly every Sonic the Hedgehog game that has been released on a console I felt they become way too focused on that one character and fans of the other characters missed out. Recently Sega released a remake of 'Wonderboy 3: The Dragon's Trap' and it has been met with a lot of good reviews so far and now it looks like we might not only get a new Wonder Boy game but new games of other classic titles!!! I would love for them to make a new Alex Kidd and a sequel to Dynamite Dux. Alex Kidd is the most deserving in my opinion 'cause he was their mascot and biggest selling character before Sonic the Hedgehog. Posted Image

SEGA PLANNING TO REVIVE 'MAJOR IPS'

Share. A revival of major properties is part of SEGA’s plan leading up to 2020.

SEGA has revealed plans for a revival of “major IPs” within the SEGA Sammy group’s new “Road to 2020” document, released following the March 31, 2017 end of the fiscal year.

The presentation does not specify precisely which “major IPs” SEGA may be seeking to exhume at this stage, though it does stress the company will also seek to expand existing properties and challenge for potential new franchises.

The strategy to resurrect major IPs is noted as one of the major points in SEGA’s goals for the “packaged game field.”

Earlier in the extensive report SEGA Sammy notes that profit is “on a recovery trend” following business structure reform throughout 2016 and 2017, and that further growth is anticipated.

SEGA Sammy’s recently released financial results were positive regarding the company’s performance in games with the launch of Total War: Warhammer and Persona 5 – plus continued “robust” sales for Phantasy Star Online 2 – attributed as contributors for profit growth.
