If we shape shift in to a bird or something, do we need the ability "flight" to do so? |

Unfortunately, when you shapeshift, it has been said that you retain the same mass. If you were to shapeshift in to a bird from a 180lb person who is six feet tall you would become a six foot tall, 180lb sparrow, which I don't know if that would make it so you could fly or not. I had a shapeshift character before and the only difference for him when he was shapeshifted was his appearance (except I gave him the strength ability and made a weakness that said it could only be effective in his shapeshift form). Perhaps we could look in to changing this sometime, because it limits shapeshifting quite a bit, imho (in my humble opinion). |

Not exactly Raven. As I understand it, your mass remains the same, but your size can in fact change. Meaning you would become basically a 180 lb sparrow. A sparrow that heavy would basically negate your ability to so much as twitch as your muscles would not be big enough to do so. In order to make up for this one would need to also have the mass shifting ability. This would allow you to change your mass to accomodate for the size change. As for being able to fly...I'm not entirely sure how that would work. |

If you are allowed to change anywhere from 1-1000 pounds using mass shifting, then yes, you might stand a chance at flying. If you were to successfully turn in to a bird it seems to me you could fly, provided that your weight was at the right level. And what I said in my previous post was based on what I understood based on what I was told. If you can change size, then that's awesome, because I've been wanting a size shifting ability for some time, and that would be the closest thing to it, along with making the shapeshifting ability more appealing to me. |

One would assume that turning into a six foot bird would allow you to fly. There used to be even larger flying reptiles which are now (apparently) extinct. |

I think, if you turned into a "6 foot sparrow" your wing span/muscle strength would also increase to accomodate your size. |

Shapeshifting does not limit your size -- so you can shift to be quite an enormous something, if you like -- and never has. The only restriction is that your mass does not change when you shapeshift. This, however, is mainly a restriction due to some other problems with the system in the past and is likely to be done away with in the very near future -- likely Friday (I am off work that day, and will have time to fiddle with this, piloting, and other things that need tweaking). Also, bear in mind that unless a 6-foot sparrow was as proportionally light as an actual sparrow, it couldn't get off of the ground regardless of the proportional wingspan. :) And, Raven, I think we can do something about a size-shifting power too, come Friday. :) |

I think that you would be able to change size with Shape-Shifting. Like if you turned into, say, a street lamp, you would want to be the same dimensions as a real street lamp to complete the disguise. Other wise, why waste the ability? |

Like I said, shapeshifting allows changing size as well. |

Then you could scale yourself so your weight would be balanced by your size. Right? |

Wrong. From what I have gathered, changing size in shapeshifting makes you more dense, or less dense. Oh, and there would a point where your density/strength as a bird would be relative (for your size) to that of a small, natural, bird. |
