Name: Micah Bale Age: 485 Physical Appearance: Under normal circumstances, Micah isn’t anything special. About 5’11, dark brown hair, a bit spiky, and vivid blue eyes. Back Story: Micah was born on the 24th of Febuary, 1364 AD, in a little mountain hamlet in what is now Germany. He was raised as any other boy of the age who had a poor family. Sustenance farming and hunting wild game was his family’s way of life, as well as for the most of the rest of his village. Micah was a natural at the hunt. His favorite trick was chasing wild elk with nothing but a short, curved knife and a length of rope. Once he ran the animal to ground, he tied the rope through its nose and walked it back home. Once he’d brought it to camp, and the bitter lactic acid had receded from the exhausted animal’s limbs, he’d kill it and deliver the fresh meat to the village butcher. The only time he ever ran into trouble was when wild Gray Wolves would steal his deer at the last moment, after he’d expended much of his own energy chasing it. One such incident was where it all began… During the cold, hard winter of his sixteenth year, Micah began his third run of the season. A light leather tunic and pair of trousers were the only things between him and the cold, but his body heat would quickly make up the difference. Six feet of rope was wrapped across his chest and behind his back, and his hunting knife was tied to his thigh next to a small pouch of deer-jerky and a few other bits and bobs. Not half an hour in, he spotted his quarry, a quartet of the animals. He quickly chose one then sprinted toward the group, shouting. They scattered to the four winds, and Micah fell in behind the one he’d marked. Mile after mile fell away behind the hunter and his prey, and before long, the deer began to flag badly as Micah closed breathing heavily. When the animal finally collapsed, Micah was on it, freeing the rope from his chest. Before he could make the cut to pass the rope through the animal’s nose, the unthinkable happened. A huge gray mass slammed into his back and he felt sharp claws dig a furrow through his skin. He rolled slashing out with the knife, only to be faced with half a dozen starving wolves. A pair quickly dispatched the exhausted animal before turning their attention back to the boy. He didn’t stand a chance… Micah opened his eyes to catch the last vestiges of sunlight drifting below the forest canopy. He looked down and grimaced at the dozens of claw and bite marks that covered his exposed chest, then his eyes widened in shock as one of them sealed shut, leaving nothing but a white scar to evidence its presence. Within moments, every claw, bite, scratch, and scar on his body had disappeared. That’s when he shivered. Realizing the danger of the freezing night, the young man quickly banked up a fire in the lee of a huge fir. Then the moon came out behind from behind a cloud. His eyes were inexorably toward the perfect white circle hanging in the sky, then it felt like his bones were on fire. Several minutes later, Micah looked down at himself. Huge claws extended from his fingers, and thick matted black hair covered his body. Then the only thought he would focus on for the entire night passed through his mind: Hungry. He awoke on the floor of his bedroom the next day to the sounds of wailing and screaming from the town outside. He staggered upright, and mad his way to the door. He froze when he opened it, wide eyes taking in the carnage. Slashed and partially devoured bodies littered the street, and several houses were ablaze. Huge claw marks were torn through most of the carts and shops that surrounded the well in the center of town. Without any prompting, Micah immediately knew he was the one that did this. And, apparently, so did most of the townsfolk. They seized the boy and cast him out of the city into the snow, a pitchfork driven through his stomach. After recovering from this most recent injury, Micah began roaming the countryside, learning more about his abilities. Unlike many with dangerous powers, rather than try to protect everyone around him, he began to build a dynasty that would outlast the generations. Before two generations, he had several children a wife and the beginnings of some land. A hundred years later, and he hadn’t aged ten years. His family had grown into nearly a hundred, all with some variant of his own power. His lands stretched over parts of what are now France, Germany, and Belgium. But it was not to last… An up and coming order of church hunters, known as the OSB began attacking his family’s homes, slaughtering them, despite their power and abilities. While the process took a few centuries, the efficiency of the order eventually drove the family back to their lone patriarch. Outnumbered and outgunned despite his natural advantages, he was forced to flee the town, land, country, and continent. After a long, uncomfortable voyage, he landed safely in the New World, under the guise of a prospector chasing the infamous California Gold Rush. He blended easily with the waves of men traveling west, and disappeared. Skills: Unarmed – Proficient Fortitude – Skilled Agility – Skilled Trapping - Decent Intimidation - Decent Abilities: Accelerated Healing – Skilled Shape Shifting – Skilled Forms: Lupine (Wolf): The only fully-animal form Micah can assume, his wolf form is a pure side-effect of his “condition.” However, this wolf is a fearsome form indeed. A throwback to prehistoric times, this wolf seems to be the descendant of the now-extinct Dire Wolf. Roughly 150 pounds, and nearly six feet long, this crypto-zoological nightmare is the leader of any pack it chooses, but rarely chooses to lead one. It has all the faculties of its descendant, the Gray Wolf, and an extra dose of mass and power on top. (+1 Olfactory| +1 Strength) Werewolf: The first form that awoke in Micah’s body, this creature is stuff of legend. Over six feet tall, and immensely powerful, it somewhat resembles an extremely muscular man, but is covered in shaggy hair. Its head is shorter than an average wolf’s, but the teeth are longer. Capable of standing on two legs and armed with inch-long razor sharp claws, this monster can slash open the side of a car to reach the tasty morsels within. (+1 Strength | Claws and teeth have +1 Sharpness) Werebear: A second form taken from nature’s bounty of monsters, a Werebear is the most brutally powerful. Part human and part Grizzly, this monster can smash aside trees, wagons, and small houses to tear apart whatever it chooses. While it lacks the sharpened natural weapons of its Lycan cousin, it makes up for it in sheer size. A Werebear stands at roughly 9 feet tall, reminiscent of the Biblical Goliath, but with more hair and less forehead. (Strength +2) Werehawk: Much smaller than its mammal opposites, a Werehawk is nonetheless a dangerous foe. While the Wolf and Bear rely on sheer strength and ferocity to overwhelm their foes, the hawk will stalk from high above, swooping down in a thunderbolt of feathers and claws. The Werehawk is slightly smaller than the average human, though looks fairly similar. Mottled skin, patterned with flecks and stripes, the Werehawk is most easily identified by the wings protruding from the shoulder blades and inch long talons extending from the hands and feet. (+1 Flight | +1 Sharpness to Claws and Talons) Attributes: Moonlit Knight – Due to its unique wavelength, solar light reflected off of the moon seems to enhance Micah’s abilities (+1 Strength while in a non-human form, and +1 Accelerated Healing while exposed to lunar light) Argentum Allergy – The chemical makeup of the metal Silver has a negative effect on Micah’s body, slowing his healing and causing minor chemical burns. (-1 to Accelerated Healing to injuries caused by silver objects/weapons, and level 1 heat damage inflicted by contact with said metal) Important Themes and Notes: Matthias is the origin of the Werewolf story in Europe. Much of the myth and legend of the time is centered around his family's escapades of the age. Contiunity: This is actually a character I'll reintroduce later, likely without the regal backstory. Do you wish for this character to become part of the CH continuity?: Perhaps now, perhaps later, whatever works. Edited by Yamato, Jul 21 2013, 10:23 AM.
