History

The Conch Kingdom Times is Conch Kingdom's #1 regional news source! From Civil War to Regional Events, there are many things to read about. About two and a half months after it was created by Helghan, the site went inactive and did not see activity again until May 2017, when it was revived. Though since it has been revived the CKT has received little activity.

Submissions

Any article submissions for the CKT are to be posted in this section of the forums, where an editor will draft and post your story to the Conch Kingdom Times website so that others may view it.

Currently trying to come up with a template of sorts for submitting articles

What is a legacy? It's planting seeds in a garden you never get to see.

All that is gold does not glitter; not all those who wander are lost; the old that is strong does not wither; deep roots are not reached by the frost.

Proudly the first CK resident to receive the Order of Merit!

On September the 28th, 2016, Krasnodarian forces officially began the "Krim Offensive", deploying the full might of their navy against the United Socialist States of Tulov and staging landings all across the Krim Peninsula. During this offensive the Krasnodarian Navy engaged and defeated the USST's southern fleet, pursuing the retreating ships to the port city of Edessagrad, where all ships of the USST Southern Fleet were sunk, leaving the forces of Krasnodaria in complete control of the USST's southern coasts. The invasion of the Krim Peninsula opened up with mass deployment of landing craft and some paratroopers, Desperate attempts to fend off the invasion by the USST Air Militias were crushed under the might of the Krasnodarian Air Force, allowing Krasnodarian troops to seize the eastern side of the peninsula and open up a link with their homeland.

While Krasnodarian troops poured across into the Krim Peninsula, the Krasnodarian Navy engaged in a merciless campaign of shelling the cities of Zavosopol and Edessagrad with cruise missiles. No official counts of civilian casualties have yet been received, but are estimated to be well over twenty thousand, and potentially much higher. While the majority of Krasnodaria's forces focused on the Krim Peninsula, a small detachment of the Krasnodarian Navy had been routed to the USST's northern coasts, where it engaged and defeated a portion of the USST's Northern Fleet, allowing the Krasnodarian ships to blockade the city of Litz, along with all ports south of it. An offensive campaign of bombarding the city of Litz is currently still under way, as the USST's Air Militias in the region struggle against the Krasnodarian aircraft deployed by their carriers.

In conjunction with their losses in the east against Sheksna and Nikolskia, the USST is rapidly losing territory to it's enemies and may very well be on it's way to total defeat. Krasnodarian Foreign Minister Alev Terivich had this to say at a press conference. "Our offensive is well under way. The Cryim Peninsula, shamefully renamed to the "Krim Peninsula" by our enemies, will soon be returned to it's rightful rulers. We have long sought the regain our native lands, and the Cryim Peninsula is the most important among these. They will pay for what they have done to Krasnodaria, to our lands and our people. We will not rest until every inch of the United Socialist States of Tulov has been conquered!"

Um, this doesn't count as an article. If you would condense it all down into an article form, that would be better.

I would be interested in becoming an editor/writer.

NJ, who were you responding to, because pretty sure it's the writers/editors job to take raw information and turn it into articles. But idk what they had actually put down.

Definitely should get coverage of upcoming and current RPs. Would be willing to throw something together from them, but somebody involved would be better cause they actually know what's going on. That's about all I have at this point.

I was responding to Fio. I don't remember having to write people's stuff. They write the articles, editors just make sure there are no mistakes and post it.

I was meaning real life editors, but that's what we did before too, when Helghan first made it. A team of writers wrote the articles.

I work for a newspaper IRL as a writer. The editors don't do any writing. The columnists and reporters do.

CKT doesn't have writers, the job you have now is called editor under the new incarnation, but it has no writers. Originally, the people who edited articles also wrote them. I also "put writers/editors" the writer translates the raw information and the editor refines the translation, that's how most news media works. Maybe not the one you work for, but that's how most of them do.

What newspaper do you work for?

Bright Ideas Beacon.

So you're saying we should have the editors write? The only articles I've ever had to write are my own submissions. Every other time, it was written by someone and then submitted to be edited.

No, but I am saying that if somebody doesn't submit a written article but rather "raw data" you shouldn't tell them to write the article themselves either. Maybe that data was something they really want to see an article written about but they aren't confident enough to write one themselves. That's why rather than a team of editors, you should have a team of writers, and the "senior" most writers should also function as peer editors, looking over other submissions and making sure they abide by quality standards. Nobody's idea should be turned away just because they can't write it themselves.

Bright Ideas Beacon, student newspaper by homeschoolers for homeschoolers. That's not a real newspaper. It's about as close as you can get without being a real newspaper, but it's not a real newspaper. One of my buddies worked for NYT, but i don't know anything about what he actually did there, he probably ran coffee.
