So if there's no objections to me taking Israel, I'm gonna go ahead and create relevant RP threads. Also, excellent, I' looking forward to them.

Hi everybody, My name is Beni and I'm an old conworld member. I have been involved in some moments of FW and even I tried to start my own Project in the past. I see here some users from that days so it is possible that some of them could remember me. Euskadi, Baltic Union, DDR and Soviet Russia are some of my old nations. I have read about AltVerse and I would like to try to join your community and participate in its development with my work. I'd like to know if the map with the playing nations at the Alt Verse wiki page is updated in order to choose a nation to play with. Anyway, and with the idea of start roleplaying as soon as possible, I would try to use some of my old work adapted to the Alt Verse history and geopolitical situation. Please, let me know your opinions and suggestions. BIPU
The map isn't updated - I'll have to speak with some of the other members before creating a new one. Where though by the way would you ideally want to roleplay? Looking at your nations, most are European and most of Europe is up for grabs to be honest (with the exception of Great Britain, bits of Italy and Ukraine, Turkey, Greece, Greenland and the Baltic states) I have some ideas to work but nothing clear by the moment.
Trying to use my old stuff: - Baltic Unión could be a good idea after changing all the references to Greenland and the baltic states. It is probably my biggest and deepest developed nation and it could be roleplayed almost inmediately. It could be considered a mid world power and a strong regional power, but in a multipolar world without big superpowers as seems Alt Verse, it can be a first class nation. -Euskadi is and interesting project but it is not so important to be roleplayed as primary nation. - There are many socialist nations in Alt Verse so I'm not going to use DDR or Soviet Russia. I think it could be more interesting to put in Alt Verse some other points of wiew.
Thinking in new nations: - I have been thinking in Japan. Develop the renaissance of the Japanesse Empire is something that motivates me a lot. The problem is that the work should be done totally and that I have no idea of japanesse. :-) - A new Tsarist Russia is a very motivating Project. I like the idea of RP with a powerful nation with a strong relationship between religion, politics and traditions. A huge work should be dome here too. - Well, I'm spanish and I have never worked in a nation with an strong spanish component. Unlike in the case of Japan, I would have no problems with the local language.
Any suggestion?

As the author of the current Baltic State has not been active in a long time the nation may be dropped from Altverse, meaning potentially those territories don't have to be removed. Greenland probably will though.
A Japan would be interesting, seeing as no one is roleplaying it atm. With that one don't take my word for it though completely - I'm no expert on Japan. As for Spanish speaking nations, most of Latin America is up for grabs there if that takes your fancy - it the region of the world were history can be most easily changed imo, and the common ethnic/language obstacle is a lot less prominent then it is in say Europe or East Asia. Euskadi is a safe option, and could be incorporated effortlessly into Altverse. As for Tsarist Russia, that could affect the whole 20th century history - unless we are talking about a restored monarchy (restored after the breakup of the USSR), which could be a fairly interesting prospect.

I will remove all the references about Greenland and I will maintain those related to Estonia, Latvia and Lithuania by the moment. I think te basic changes to start could be done in one or two days. I will make some changes during next days in order to give Baltic Unión a stronger political position to put in front of the spreading of socialism in Europe.
Meanwhile I will continue thinking in Kingdom of Spain, Imperial Japan or Tsarist Russia (after the collapse of Soviet Unión in order to respect the historical line of some other nations) as new prospects.
I have not seen any place to discuss about Alt Verse history, is there any place? I would like to know some basics of AltVerse history, specially what afects the USA and Soviet Unión becouse of its importance in all the 20th century history. Articles and histories of Alt Verse nations has many references to US but, Is possible a US leading the 20th century with Sierra and Wabash taking important parts of its real territory? If Alt Verse is full of socialist states it means that socialism has not be "defeatec" by the US and this fit perfect wity the idea of a non almighty US but, in this case, why should Soviet Union collapse and dissapear?

If Alt Verse is full of socialist states it means that socialism has not be "defeatec" by the US and this fit perfect wity the idea of a non almighty US but, in this case, why should Soviet Union collapse and dissapear? Wabash to my knowledge largely functioned as a very closely aligned US sister state in the Cold War, with the US still leading the charge.
As for the USSR collapsing, the reason was similar to what happened irl - economic incompetence and stagnation, lack of freedoms, perestroika and glasnost, war in Afghanistan and probably war in Kurdistan. The socialist nations in Altverse (Danguk, Westland, Britannia, and the Falklands) weren't really allies to the USSR - Britannia largely did its own thing, and Westland/Danguk saw the USSR as to totalitarian to make alliances with it. The only real pro-USSR state, Kurdistan, probably helped topple the USSR who spent a lot in a costly war to take over Turkey. The end of the cold war in Altverse would more see the collapse of "communism" then socialism, with Kurdistan basically being like North Korea.
There is a history page which has some unchangeable events (such as WWII, WWI, American revolution, Cold War, etc) but it needs updating - again something I should do if I wasn't so lazy Also, its best of you nominate the Baltic States through the official application process in case anyone else has any objections.

I have some ideas to work but nothing clear by the moment.
A huge work should be dome here too. - Well, I'm spanish and I have never worked in a nation with an strong spanish component. Unlike in the case of Japan, I would have no problems with the local language.
Any suggestion? I am half-Japanese, am fluent in the Japanese language (speaking wise anyway, I still have issues reading kanji), have been to Japan a few times (I have relatives there after all), and have been closely following recent Japanese politics (especially the progress of Abenomics and the Senkaku Islands dispute), so if you'd like I could help you with any Japan project you make.
Just fair warning though, there are a few things that I have rather strong opinions on, so yeah, you can go look at the previous pages of this topic to see what I mean.
As for Russia, well I haven't done much with Alkara so if you want that land back just say the word and you can have it.

Seems good, I just have a few gripes. Some of them are personal and I don't mind if you ignore, others not so much. Take this more as a few pointers as to what you might want to change more than anything else, but still.
Gripe #1: This is something I feel needs to be addressed.)
Why would the Baltic countries join the Baltic Union? During the fall of the USSR, those countries saw a huge upsurge in nationalism and pro-independence. Even today those countries become scared shitless when Russia so much as indicates that it might want to intervene in their affairs. That and the Baltic countries don't exactly have too close a relationship to Scandinavian countries, at least not in terms of culture (there's a reason why Estonia, Latvia, and Lithuania are called Baltic nations while Sweden, Norway, Iceland and Denmark are called Nordic nations). This part kinda needs to be expanded on more.
Personally, I don't see any reason to include the three Baltic states in your Baltic Union for a few reasons, but we'll get to that in a moment.
Gripe #2: This one is more of a personal irritance due to technicalities so I won't make too much of a deal out of it, but I'll still bring it up.
If your country formed out of a union between Norway and Sweden, why would it be called the Baltic Union? I don't know about how it is where you are, but where I come from when you say "Baltic" the nations of Estonia, Latvia and Lithuania come to mind, not Norway, Sweden, Denmark, and those nations. Surely, it would be called the "Scandinavian Union" instead, as that would be more relevant to the region?
Gripe #3: This one is just 100% personal and again I won't make too big of a deal out of it nor will it prevent me from saying "yes" provided the major issues are worked out, but I'll still bring it up.
I don't know but including Denmark makes the land borders look..... weird in my eyes. It's just a personal thing. Maybe it could be a Scandinavian Union, with the nations in it being Sweden, Norway, Iceland, and Finland (Finland to make up the loss of the Baltic states and Denmark). With the exception of Iceland, these nations are all geographically linked and also share a common cultural heritage (Nordic heritage).
Gripe #4: This is a rather important one that I think should be addressed.
Having English as an official language seems weird. Yeah, it's the de-facto international standard for a lot of things, but it isn't it more realistic to have a local language be the official language, with English being co-official (if you really want it to be official anyway).
Gripe #5: This one is both personal and important. Just listen to me.
Why is Esperanto an official language? Just curious because it's not the case in any other nation. As I stated earlier, surely a local language would be the official language, with any other languages being co-official?
As an Esperantist (that doesn't speak a lick of Esperanto, though I want to learn) I don't mind a nation with Esperanto as an official langauge existing, I just want how this came to be IC'ly explained.

As an Esperantist (that doesn't speak a lick of Esperanto, though I want to learn) I don't mind a nation with Esperanto as an official langauge existing, I just want how this came to be IC'ly explained. Well, I will try to answer to your gripes but I have to remember you that Baltic Unión is a nation modeled for a previous Project, Future World, and some of the things related to Baltic Unión has no explanation outside the Future World enviroment at that time. I have to made some changes in the hisotry and historyline of Baltic Union in order to fit it in Alt Verse.
#1 My idea is a unión of the three nordic nations (Denmark, Norway and Sweden) based on the unión of their three crowns and the growth of scandinavic nationalism in the last decades of the 20th century. This growth was specially important after the revolution in UK because of the fear of being involved in their own revolution. The unión and the strengthening of the monarchy was the nordic answer to socialism. The incorporation of Iceland will be easy to explain with this idea of nordic nationalism.
After the collapse of Soviet Union and the that reigned in the early years of Yeltsin, the newly formed baltic democracies (Estonia, Latvia and Lithuania) needed an "umbrela" over their heads to protect them and to let them move forward without fears. It was a way to limit their internal (back to communism / socialism) or external (Russia) threats. In real world, the "umbrela" has been the European Union, but here in Alt Verse, this umbrella could well be a Nordic Union or Baltic Union. Think that my idea of "unión" is a kind of federal monarchy where the former nations maintain a high grade of self government in the daily matters.
In real world Estonia, Latvia and Lithuania has close ties with the nordic countries and, for example, they are members Nordic Council from their independence.
#2 Of course this is linked to the #1. The name Baltic Union was thought as a more inclusive name because "Baltic Union" makes reference to the Baltic Sea, so Sweden and Denmark could be so "baltic" as Estonia is. Anyway, without Estonia, Latvia and Lithuania the name Baltic Union has no meaning and it should be changed. I have no problem with changing the name to any other kind of "... Union"
#3 Denmark is the core of nordic history and culture. Norway was joined to Denmark from 1397 to 1814 and from 1397 to 1523 Sweden was too. Their Royal families has strong family ties and their culture, language, economy and society has strong ties too. No nordic unión is possible without Denmark.
#4&5 What could be the official language of a nation formed by other 7 nations with different languages? Looking to answer this question I thought "English" or "Esperanto" because latin, my first choice, could not be explained easily in scandinavia.
Really, I dont know. I think this is a bit stupid too and I have to give it a thought.
Anyway, Baltic Union in Future World was a nation very worried about what minorities or groups could think so it was needed a language that could not be interpreted as an imposition. Alt Verse Union will be much less cheesy so this will not be a major problem.

As for the whole "umbrella for protection from the Russia", that could be the EU, but I don't really see it being the thing with the Baltic Union. I would like to point out that IRL Estonia, Latvia, and Lithuania are NOT full members of the Nordic Council, they are just observers. Furthermore, I believe that the "umbrella" you are referring to IRL is NATO, of which all three nations are a part of, rather than the EU. NATO would probably better serve the purpose of protection as the superpower that is the US is part of it.
#2: The only issue with that is that if the union started out between Sweden and Norway, then Norway has no connection to the Baltic sea.
#3: Again, this is only something with how it looks in my eyes, it's not a big issue and if you want to include Denmark I have no problem with it. I just prefer my land borders to look a little elegant, and having Denmark just makes it look odd to me.
Though if you're going to bring up culture, I would like to point out that Finland also has just as strong ties to Scandinavia, as during the 17th century it was ruled by the Swedish Empire, and I don't mean it was part of the territories that the Swedes later conquered, I mean when the Empire was established by King Gustav Vasa in the 16th century Finland was part of it. If you're going for a cultural union, perhaps you could include Finland as well?
#4&5: Perhaps you could have each member choose their own official language, and then use that? Or you could just choose to have no official language. Or you could go the route Belgium has taken and just have each language spoken in the member-states be official.
