So, what is "the Wave"? Quite simply, it is a RP that will be about the clandestine actions that the Akitian Office of State Security and Office of Criminal Investigations (Akitsu's two intelligence agencies) take against the Motherland Restoration Party, a far-right proto-fascist terrorist organization that aims to take over Akitsu via a coup de'tat, and their allies.
The plot goes something like this.
BACKGROUND STORY, read if you want to, but if you're going to understand some things about this you may want to consider this mandatory reading Toru Ishihara became a member of the Patriotic Party some 50 years ago (1965), joining the party at age 22. With him came a small group of his friends. He quickly rose through the ranks of the Patriotic Party, becoming a popular figure within the party and gaining a small but fanatically loyal following within it. However, Toru Ishihara advocated for violent revolution to achieve the Patriotic Party's goals, directly contradicting the Patriotic Party's political platform. When the Patriotic Party's leadership criticized Toru Ishihara, his followers defended him vehemently, to the point of threatening violence against the Patriotic Party's leadership. At this point, the Patriotic Party realized that Toru had developed a cult of personality around himself, and expelled Toru Ishihara from the party. With Toru went most of his followers, but they did not back down. They quickly regrouped, reorganizing themselves as the Motherland Restoration Party.
Around 4 years later in 1969, the Motherland Restoration Party struck. The Patriotic Party was losing seats regularly in the elections, and the Motherland Restoration Party decided on their own that they needed to give the far-right in Akitsu a "boost". By this time, some Motherland Restoration Party members had infiltrated the Patriotic Party, becoming some of the Patriotic Party's representatives in the Akitian National Legislature. They took advantage of this to get a small group of their into Akitsu's capitol building, and then held the National Legislature hostage in a coup attempt, trying to force them to abandon Akitsu's constitution and give the Motherland Restoration Party all political power. However, security quickly disarmed the Motherland Restoration Party.
What followed was a massive crackdown against the Motherland Restoration Party. It's high ranking leadership was arrested, including Toru Ishihara, who was sentenced to death and eventually executed. The far-right in Akitsu lost nearly all of the remaining support that it had, with the Patriotic Party even losing all the seats that they held in the National Legislature.
The Motherland Restoration Party was forced underground after this, and has layed low ever since, slowly preparing for another attempt.
And they think that their time is now.
Akitsu has seen a surprising rise in the far-right after the defeat of the Nationalist Party in the last election. The far-right in Akitsu call this "the wave" as they believe the far-right will now rise up in Akitsu and they believe they cannot be stopped, much like a massive wave. The Motherland Restoration Party had noticed this and, now led by Shintaro Kunihara, plan on using it to their advantage.
So, that's the background.
The Motherland Restoration Party will see the recent rise in the Akitian far-right as a "wave", and thus is about to become a LOT more active. They'll go on a massive recruiting spree and will be buying up all the weapons and supplies they can get. However, they also know that they cannot do things on their own. So they'll look for outside help.
Current plans are pending approval and permission from Justin, but I'll put them out there anyway. I cannot emphasize this enough, but this is still pending approval from him. Do NOT consider these plans official until word from him comes up, until then consider this nothing more than a proposal.
The Motherland Restoration Party will try to get into contact with the far-right in Mexico. Obviously, the far-right in Mexico has done far better than the far-right in Akitsu. The Motherland Restoration Party would want to learn the methods used in Mexico so spread the far-right's message. Assuming that Mexico agree, the Akitian far-right will probably try to use gangs as an intermediary. Gangs that they will meet up with in Hawaii, Sierra. Hawaii because they could easily blend in as Japanese people since Hawaii is so diverse (this is an actual tactic that yakuza gangs use to smuggle drugs from Japan into the USA and guns from the USA into Japan).
The Motherland Restoration Party not only wants support spreading their message, but would probably also use the opportunity to find a new source of guns and other supplies for a new plan for a coup (yeah, unlike Hitler they still haven't given up on that idea).
Now, since the Motherland Restoration Party is under close surveillance by the Akitian intelligence agency, the Akitian Office of State Security and Office of Criminal Investigations will get wind of this quickly. They won't know exactly what the Motherland Restoration Party is planning, but they'd know enough to be troubled by it. Once the Office of State Security get's wind of some going ons in Hawaii, they'd immediately contact Sierran authorities and attempt to organize a joint investigation.
Which is where the fun begins
So, you're probably wondering, how the hell might this involve people other than me and Justin?
Well, first off, I don't think that Justin has agreed to this yet, so consider this nothing more than a proposal at this point.
Should he agree to it, there are two ways that others could get involved (pending agreement from Justin).
First off: you could take control of a character. Be it a member of the Akitian/Mexican investigators, member of the Motherland Restoration Party, member of the Mexican far-right, or something like and of the ones mentioned.
Secondly: your nation could get involved somehow (again, pending agreement from Justin, and me in this case). The most likely scenario in this case would be one of Sierra's allies joining in on the investigation, or another fascist nation (say, Argentina) joining in and supporting the Motherland Restoration Party.
Shoud Justin not agree to this, I'll have to rework the entire idea.
and to everyone else, what do you think?
Interesting piece of trivia The title of this RP has a dual meaning. First off, it is a reference to the fact that IC'ly the Akitian far-right is calling the current rise in far-right support in Akitsu as "the Wave". Secondly, it is a reference to the IRL social experiment called the Third Wave. Read up on the Third Wave if you don't know about it, it's actually a pretty interesting look at how support for fascist ideologies can grow.

So, this is my idea for the character of the OSS that will go to Sierra, anyone please let me know if you have problems with this.
Oh, and please don't complain too much about the anime character FC, I'm honestly out of ideas and frankly I don't know many Japanese actors that would fit this role.
| Masato Ito |

Codename: Masato Ito Codename (Akitian): 伊藤 正人 (Itou Masato) Real Name: Takao Miyamoto Real Name (Akitian): 宮本 孝男 (Miyamoto Takao) Position: Investigator for the Office of State Security Ethnicity: Mixed (half-Akitian half-Gusukan) Gender: Male Age: 32 Smokes: No Languages Spoken: Akitian Japanese & Standard Japanese (fluently), Akitian (fluently), Chinese (fluently), Korean (fluently), English (fluently) |

Bio: Masato was born in Nago, Gusuku, Akitsu as Takao Miyamoto to a Akitian father and Gusukan mother. He was raised in a bilingual household, and thus gained fluency in both languages at a young age. At a young age, Masato did decently in school, getting grades on the high side but not so high that he was top in the school. From a young age, Masato demonstrated a keen sense towards observation, often observing small details that others would quickly ignore.
Masato has always wanted to join the police department, and upon graduation from high school he immediately enrolled in the University of Kobara's criminal justice program. He graduated within 4 years, and enrolled in the Gusuku Provincial Police Department. Quickly completing basic training, he did a good job as a normal officer. He achieved the rank of seargent at age 25, and was officially allowed to take part in an investigation. This particular investigation required someone to go undercover into an Akitian Yakuza gang, and Masato volunteered for the job.
It was a resounding success, and he did a better job than anyone could have imagined. This gained the attention of the Office of State Security, which had also been investigating the same yakuza gang for potential connections to overseas criminal syndicates. They offered Masato a job in the Office of State Security, but Masato was initially reluctant to accept. This position would surely come with a huge pay raise and many other benefits, and he did feel a patriotism that made him want to protect his nation from crime foreign or otherwise. However, at the same time Masato felt an attatchment to Gusuku, and was reluctant to leave. In the end Masato decided to leave, deciding that it was imperative that he stop foreign threats if he could.
Once Masato joined the Office of State Security, he was given the new name Masato Ito along with an entirely new identity. He was still a man from Gusuku, but according to his official history he had moved to the capital of Kobara for a little while. He was then instructed that he would become the Office of State Security's newest spy, and trained in the standard fasion. The standard training course included not only basic spy skills but also covered various foreign languages. Masato was taught English during this time and learned it to the point where he was fluent in it.
Finally, his first assignment came. He was to enter into China and go after a criminal syndicate, cooperate with Chinese authorities wherever possible, and bring down a operation between Chinese criminal syndicates and Akitian yakuza's to smuggle weapons into Akitsu. He was taught Chinese until he was proficient in it, and then sent off to infiltrate the yakuza. While Masato was there, he made a point of honing his skills in Chinese, making himself fluent in the langauge as well, so he could better blend in with the local populace. This payed off as Masato was able to pass off to the Akitian yakuza as a Chinese citizen when they finally did arrive a year later. Masato caught the yakuza and Chinese criminal syndicate in the act of an illegal weapons transfer, and assisted Chinese authorities in taking down the entire operation. After handing off copies of the evidence to Chinese authorities, he returned to Akitsu with the evidence that was then used to shut down the yakuza gang's operations for good. By this time, Masato was 29.
At age 30, Masato was again sent out, this time to North Korea. He was to operate as an official cover agent, working in Akitsu's embassy in the nation to gather information on the diplomatic stances North Korea was taking in regards to Akitsu. Again, while he was in North Korea he honed his skills in the local language, becoming fluent in Korean. After a year, Masato concluded that while North Korea had some hostile intent towards Akitsu, at the time it wasn't something Akitsu should have be too worried about
Once he returned to Akitsu, he was assigned to a division monitoring the Motherland Restoration Party and it's actions. When it came out that the Motherland Restoration Party was planning something involving Mexico, he immediately began learning the language. He can currently speaks enough Sierra to be able to make conversation, but his skills are nowhere near that of proficienty let alone fluency. |
RP is already up.
