"I don't know what you want from me. My engines are out of order as are my shields right now. I can't get back to the ship commander." Miya Yamato explained, as her fingers dashed over her keyboard. She was following the seemingly random shutdown of her mobile suit. She knew it was an attack though. Someone had hacked her systems, cracked her coding, and was taking the GUNDAM out little by little. They were good. But she was good too. She invented this coding, and she knew how to put right back up the walls they were tearing down. She got her shields back up at least, and turned her attention from her engines when her life support system started failing. Cutting her gravity pup and oxygen tank? That was new. And low. She didn't pay any attention when they took her shields down again, as all her energy was focused on keeping the oxygen going at least. So it came as a huge surprise when a beam connected with her GUNDAM and actually did some damage. She looked up just in time to see Lacus's face flicker, then disappear completely. Her communications line had been damaged! "Shit." She exclaimed in a short lived fit of frustration, "Okay Stardust, don't die on me now baby." The fuchsia haired girl, turned her attention to the unused monitor to her left, and began typing. Within an instant her back up system was operational, but she wasn't stopping there. She planted a simple, but hard to get rid of virus while she was going. The virus would start in on the enemy's mobile suit when they tried to take down her back up system. It wouldn't stop them, but it would definitely slow them the hell down. Whoever was in that other GUNDAM was as good as she was, and she didn't like that at all. "Damn Yamato! Saving your ass as always." Miya looked up for a split second to see a mobile suit deflecting a beam away from her. She rolled her eyes and looked back to her screens, not even bothering to open the video feed. It would get in the way. She knew her longtime friend/tormentor was out there, bragging about how he was saving her on a daily basis. She just wasn't in any mood to deal with him. "Handling it Elsman. Why don't you run back to the Lunora now." She said, as her engined started back into life. She took up her controls, her GUNDAM now temporarily fully functional again. Just enough time for her to take out her Enemy, and head back to the base ship herself. "Waiting to get yourself blown to bits is more like. You haven't moved in nearly five minutes. Just sit back and let the experts handle this, okay Kiddo?" Godness she hated him when he got all cocky. While he had been speaking, she had begun charging down the mystery GUNDAM. SHe had no control over her beam rifle, though the energy saber would do her just fine int he meantime. SHe programmed it to come out, and raised it up, slashing at her victim with all the force she felt they deserved. "Miya please return to the ship. Your systems are crashing again." She heard not their pleas to come back. Her eyes had glazed over, and she was intent on destroying the coward who had tried to cut her oxygen supply. She was beyond talking to. For now. |

"Lei, I want you to slow them down. Deron will assist in the Eternity." The pilot nodded as she sat in the cockpit of the massive Fury. A young man wearing a small headset was looking at her over the video feed, making sure that she understood the importance of her job. Lei wasted no time as she pulled out a secondary keyboard and began madly typing. "Accessing Stardust engine system. Fuel supply access disabled." she spoke aloud as she typed numerous codes so that the man on the screen knew her progress. Despite his attention seeming to be on her, she knew he had communications open with quite a few other pilots. A secondary screen appeared with diagrams and codes sprawled across it. "Disabling shields. Shields are deactivated." She noticed out of the corner of her eye that the Eternity had arrived. Lei turned her attention to disabling the life support system in the Stardust, the rival GUNDAM. "The Stardust is still operational. It should be completely immobile by now, pilot Lei." Lei frowned. One of the diagrams did indeed show that the GUNDAM was still operational. She was having a hard time cracking the code and it seemed someone was following after her work and reversing it. The other pilot had already reactivated the shields and was now working against her on the life support systems. A bright light shot past her, gaining her attention momentarily. Suddenly her screen read that the Stardust had indeed been hit and received damage. The communications were down, at least it was one less system she had to disable. "Damn! A back up system?" She smiled to herself. Her enemy was a worthy foe. As she was typing, she came across something she'd never expected to find. The damn pilot had weaved a virus into the coding. Lei cursed out loud. "What's going on?" Deron's voice came in through her video feed. "The pilot is countering my coding and they planted a virus to slow me down. It will take some time to get through it." "Forget it. We need to go in for a direct attack." They both knew the importance of stopping them from reaching Earth. The female pilot nodded and the Fury pulled out it's beam rifle. She didn't have a chance to do anything though as the Fury received a debilitating hit to the chest armor. "Shit! Deron! Deron?" She ignored the Stardust's coding for am ore important reason, her own system was under attack. Her communications had been pretty much destroyed along with another few systems being damaged from the hit. What more, the Stardust was still charging at her and the Fury's nerve centre had taken extensive damage. "Activate atmosphere reducer. Activate. Activate!" She looked around frightened as she and the Fury entered the start of Earth's atmosphere. How the tides had turned. They'd started with the advantage, she'd almost had the Stardust completely disabled. Now she was plummeting to her death or at least to grievous injuries. "Shit. Shit. Shit. Shit!" She tried to redirect some of the processes as the cockpit heated up. The Fury just kept falling further and further through Earth's atmosphere. It wasn't long before Lei was rendered unconscious by the increasing heat. |

Miya snapped out of it, finally hearing the shouts of Jamal Elsman, and the calls of Commander Lacus, and even the demands of her own father Kira. They were all telling her to stop and come back, and she started to as well. Then she was hit. She wasn't mad about it. He was defending a teammate after all. Admirable enough, but completely frustrating when it happened to you. Because of the hit, she was sent flying just a little too close to the atmosphere. Her system was shutting down again, the backup systems failing, as they were meant to eventually. In order to save power for life support, her engines had automatically shut off. The meant she couldn't counter the direction of her mobile suit. "I'm being pulled in. Gravity, mans biggest paralyzer. Engines shut down to save my energy." She looked to The commander with an apologetic smile. Lacus looked worried of course, but she nodded in understanding. There was really nothing that could be done now. The earths gravitational pull had her, and she was already starting to put up her atmosphere shields. "Hold on Yamato, I'll getcha. Rescue you again." Jamal spoke up. "I need to cut communications. Shields over conversations. See you on the surface." Miya shut down the communications lines, ignoring pilot Elsman all the while. He annoyed her, and really, she had bigger problems to deal with right now. Like the glaring fact that she was starting to plummit through the atmosphere and she wasn't sure her atmospheric shields would hold so long. She wasn't even sure if the stardusts power would allow her to make it halfway. "Heres hoping. Regular shields down. Lights off. Computers sleep. Oxygen supply half power." She muttered to herself. She was shutting down, if not reducing the power consumption of everything on the GUNDAM. Once finished, she turned to the corner of one of her monitors, kissing her hand, then pressing it to the picture stuck there. "Keep us safe Lei?" She said it as a question, but had no time to keep her attention focused on her cousin's picture. She leaned back and closed her eyes as the Stardust entered the atmosphere. The decent was quicker then she had been expecting. Of course Miya had done it before, but not under such circumstances. The stress of a failing GUNDAM was enough to make anything seem far longer and much more terrible then it truly was. So when the Stardust stabilized she snapped her eyes open, woke the computer system, and started working a trajectory for ORB. She had no idea how far she would get, but she had to try everything right? Unfortunately for her, the atmospheric shield system took far too much power. Warning lights were going off on every surface, and the engines refused to start back up. The lights wouldn't turn on either. The computer screens were going blank. "Or not." The pilot said simply, unhooking her seatbelt, and moving out of the cockpit. There was a self eject feature that was put in, as a precaution. A precaution for cases such as this. Miya strapped on the emergency parachute, and wasted no time pressing the eject button once it was secured. Fortunately for her, she was already over ORB soil. A fact she had not noticed before she ejected. She was also above water, which would make her landing, and that of her GUNDAM, far less injuring. It was already going to take two weeks to reprogram her systems, the last thing she needed was body damage to the Stardust. Miya pulled her parachute cord, and began her slowed decent to the water, watching as what looked like an army rushed to the waters edge, ready to help her in any way after she landed. No doubt her Aunt Cagalli would be in that group, closely followed and watched by her husband. She couldn't help thinking, how much she wanted to see them as her feet hit the water. |

Conciousness returned to the young GUNDAM pilot as the heat seemed to decrease. If the heat had dissipated slightly, it meant she was close to landing and it wasn't going to be a pretty landing. With a sigh, she moved to undo her seatbelt. An emergency ejection was probably her best option. She never liked having to eject from the Fury but it was appropriate in this situation. Unfortunately, before she was able to actually do anything, the Fury hit a pocket of air. It's pilot was thrown to the side, her head hitting the side of the cockpit. The last thing she saw before returning to the land of unconciousness was a sea of blue and a great many GUNDAMs patrolling. The last thing she heard was the ringing of her cellphone. The last thing she thought was 'Shit'. When Lei awoke, she was surrounded by white. It was hard to take in at first and she had to blink a bunch of times before she could focus on anything. "I feel like I've been hit by a GINN." She put a hand to her forehead in an attempt to ease the headache she was getting. "Or the equivalent. Glad to see you awake." She turned to look at the nurse who'd just entered the room. The woman was looking over some sheets, her shoes clicking against the linoleum floor with each step. "How did I get here? Or better yet, where am I?" Lei sat up, running her hands through her hair in an attempt to make it look presentable. The nurse passed her a hairbrush from nearby and Lei thanked her. "You're at the ORB naval headquarters on Earth. You'll have to put up with just me though. Most everyone else is getting ready for the banquet." Lei finished brushing her hair and set the brush on the side table. "I'm assuming we're following regular PoW rules here but I have to ask. How is the Fury?" The nurse moved to the cupboard and pulled out Lei's original outfit. It had been laundered thankfully and ironed. She set it down on the bed before answering Lei's question. "The Fury? Oh, you must mean your GUNDAM. The mechanics are looking at it right now. They'll have an assessment done shortly but according to the rules, I can't tell you any of it. What I can tell you is your current medical condition." Lei slowly slipped out of the bed and grabbed her clothes. She strode over to the partition screen, removing the white gown once she was behind it. "You've received numerous lacerations from your landing. Also some trauma to the head. You've probably noticed by now that you've also broken your arm. It was a clean break so it shouldn't take all that long to heal." The dark haired pilot emerged from behind the screen, feeling a bit more content in her own clothes. She adjusted the baby blue pleated skirt, making sure it looked good with the white tank top. "Sounds like I've done quite the number to myself." She laughed a little, grabbing the dark blue double breasted jacket and putting it on. She chose not to button it up due to the temperature in the room. At least it fir over her new cast. Deron was definitely not going to be happy when he saw her condition. "I'd say so. Now, as it stands you'll be taken into custody as soon as the doctor deems you fit enough." Lei sighed. She had to expect it though, she was a prisoner after all. "Any way I might be able to get off this planet and quickly?" The raven haired girl asked, hopeful. The nurse laughed and shook her head. "Damn." |

"What if you had died?" Miya rolled her eyes, heaving a dramatic sigh. S had been listening to her father reprimand her for her actions. She had been safely pulled from the water and Immediately taken to the infirmary. Then she had been sleeping. SO now that she was finally allowed to see her parents, her father was making up for lost time. "I couldn't do anything about it. They were shutting down my systems dad. They were taking out my life support. How big a coward do you have to be...." She trailed off, brows furrowed in confusion, "Thats why I attacked." "Miya." Kira had stopped pacing, and sat down in a chair beside her bed. He ran his fingers through his hair, and held his head in his hands for a moment, before finally looking at her once more. "I just don't want you to get hurt." "Dad I'm a GUNDAM pilot. You cant keep me from getting hurt unless you find a way to stop me from piloting a mobile suit altogether." Miya retorted. Kira gave her a look, like he was seriously contemplating doing what she had just suggested. Miya's eyes widened, and she looked to her mother for help. "Kira." Lacus started calmly, "Its a part of who she is." After another moments contemplation, her father sighed, and nodded. He knew as well as anyone else that he couldn't stop her. From the moment she had first piloted the Stardust, she was hooked. "We just want to you be a little more careful Miya, thats all. We worry about you." Lacus said. She was always the calm parent, whereas Kira was always stressed, always yelling, always laying down the law. They balanced each other out nicely, and her mother had some power over him. Miya could get whatever she wanted within reason, if she went to her mother first. "I'll be more careful next time." Miya promised. Her parents stood, and began to take their leave. She still had some resting to do before the Banquet tonight. The whole house (Palace really) was bustling with the preparations. The whole banquet was a huge affair. It was the only annual tradition the alliance ever kept with. It marked the forming of the Triple alliance, and it served as a reunion as well. There was a formal dinner followed by a ball, to which Miya was required to attend. This year, Jamal Elsman was to be her escort. She cringed at the very idea. People already tried to paint the two as the perfect couple, and Miya couldn't help thinking this escort thing would only fuel that fire. "I'll send Leena up in a few hours with your dress. Try to rest up until then." Lacus said before closing the door. Miya sighed and sunk down further in her bed, but there was no way she was going to sleep any more. There was just way too much on her mind. Hours later Miya stood in the line of guests, on Jamal's arm. She was fidgeting with a ruffle on her gown, and chewing at her tongue, as her lip was covered in color. Her mind had been focused almost all day, on that other Mobile suit pilot. Who they were, what they wanted, why they were trying to kill her. What had happened to them? She never had found that out. "Whats with you today?" Jamal asked. She looked up at him, for the first time that night. How was she supposed to answer that. They couldn't get into such a discussion now. Not when they were so dressed up, about to enter a party. Miya took in his outfit. Classic of all the men who were here tonight, except instead of a black vest, he wore a midnight blue to match her gown. She suspected some clever intervention on the parts of their mothers. The both of them were expected to play along though, no matter how not a couple they were. "Nothing. Just a little......exhausted" She admitted. It was true enough, without having to tell him exactly what was on her mind. She had been through a lot yesterday. It was understandable. "I bet you are, but right now, we have a ball to attend. So show off those pearly whites princess, the whole world is watching." Jamal said, maneuvering her to their spot in line. They were the next to be announced. Miya groaned quietly at the thought of the world watching. Of course the most important world leaders were here, watching her every move. She hated being a person of any importance to the world some days. Today was one of those days. "Miya Yamato and Jamal Elsman, of ZAFT!" The announcer called. Miya plastered on her face smile, and let Jamal steer her into the ballroom. Everyone applauded, and camera flashes went off in her face. People were smiling back at her, and whispering behind their hands. Most likely about the midnight blue tiered ruffle gown she wore. Or the perfect arrangement of the curls atop her head. Perhaps about how her makeup made her seem flawless. Maybe even what a beautiful, or not so beautiful, couple she and Elsman made. This was the part where she was supposed to smile, say hello, and generally make conversation until dinner was announced ready. She now needed to talk to all these people who just seconds ago had been talking about her. Her head started to hurt just thinking about how the night would go. Hopefully the ball would be better then dinner. |

Deron adjusted his tie as he glanced down at the two unconscious guards. With a quick look over himself, he entered the marine base, on his way to the party. The other guys quickly spread off in different directions as Deron went to stake his claim in the ballroom. It was in times like this when he was thankful that he came from some sort of nobility. Enough to not seem out of place at these parties but not enough to have his alliance with the rebels known. He smiled graciously as he took a drink from the tray offered to him. The blond pilot downed it quickly before placing it on the nearby counter. Deron looked around casually, his eyes searching for his target. Lei sighed and flopped back on the bed. The nurse had left to attend to some other patients which left the girl completely alone and completely bored. She was even hoping Deron's company at this point and that was a new low for her. Lei stared at the ceiling for a good few minutes in annoyance. Why hadn't they sent someone to get her? Of course she wasn't expecting a full out attack but a few renegades would've sufficed. It'd already been about three days and she needed out of the base. She rolled over as she heard a noise from somewhere outside her room. The dark haired pilot furrowed her brows before standing and moving to the door. The two guards standing outside seemed to be gone. Maybe they'd left to go get dinner? She doubted they had but she wasn't going to argue. After an attempt at opening the door, she discovered it was locked. She frowned and punched the glass, causing it to shatter. "Worst security ever." She almost laughed as she opened the door from the other side. The sounds of a fight were getting closer as Lei stepped out into the hallway. She ran the opposite way, intent on getting to the landing bay. The Fury was her top priority right now and the hanger would most likely be fairly empty, most of the employees either at home or at the ball. Lei whipped through the halls, nearly running into someone as she turned a corner. She took them down in no time flat, her hand raised to punch them in the face as she sat on top of the person. Lei took a moment and realized who the person was. "God Reed. Can you give more warning or something?" She stood up, offering him a hand up. "Took you guys long enough. So what's happening so far?" Reed handed her a pistol and a communicator. "The objective is some daughter of the higher ups. Deron is in charge of that part. We need to meet him in the ballroom shortly." Lei rolled her eyes. Of course Deron would be in the middle of a pool of enemies. What a surprise. "Well then, we better take out the guards surrounding the hanger and the ballroom. Please try to keep it clean." She hooked the headphone around her ear and was filled with relief when she could hear the familiar voices of her comrades. Reed directed half his group to follow Lei before he took the other half and made their way to the hanger. "Let's see just how good you are Deron." She smirked and directed the team toward the ballroom. Tonight was going to be a memorable ball. |

`The night was going well. The dinner was civil, and the children behaved. They were all sent home to bed and then the ball began. People chatted and danced, and shared stories over drinks. People sat and admired the women's gowns, and gossiped about the ranks of every man int he room. Miya had been talking and dancing all night, and couldn't wait to be done with it. Her head hurt, and she was having trouble stifling her yawns. "You know. People will get the wrong impression if you keep sleeping on me." Jamal commented. Every time he claimed a dance with her, she let her head fall onto his shoulder, face turned in toward his neck so no one would see her frown. He was tall though, so it was just barely working for her. "I don't care" She told him, "The lights are hurting my head" "Okay Princess. Sleep tight." She heard him chuckle, and she smiled sincerely this time. Sometimes he could be funny. And she couldn't be mad and hate him all the time. He was her best friend. The two made it their life's mission to get on each others nerves. They grew up together though, so they had each others backs. She sometimes wondered how often they forgot things like that. Jamal stopped dancing and tapped her shoulder gently. Miya looked up at him, thoroughly confused. He looked so annoyed, not that anyone but she could tell, and it took her another couple seconds to understand what was happening. Beside Jamal stood another young man, of about the same age. He was blonde with green eyes, and Miya wondered what exactly was hidden beneath them. She smiled politely , then looked back to Jamal, who still looked as if he were considering letting the stranger cut in. "I wondered Miss Yamato, if I may have this dance?" He spoke, and Miya's smile widened. There was something about this mysterious stranger that she wanted to figure out. "Of course." She replied before Jamal. Her friend had no choice but to let the other male intervene now, unless he were to break the rules of etiquette. He wouldn't, and she knew it. He did not want a lecture from his mother. So Jamal stood aside, bowed to her, and took his leave. "You look exquisite tonight Miss Yamato." The newcomer said, kissing to top of her gloved hand. Miya blushed at the compliment, and allowed him to begin leading her around the dance floor. "I do hope I wasn't interrupting anything? Your escort didn't look happy with me." "Nothing at all." Miya assured him, "I never caught your name" "My name is Deron, Miss Yamato." |

Lei slipped past the defenses around the ballroom, not that it had been particularly difficult. In fact, they didn't even pose a challenge. Though in their defense, they hadn't been expecting an attack to get past their outer postings. She motioned for the team to follow her as they rounded a corner. She smiled, noting the ballroom doors were straight ahead. The pilot motioned silently for the others to head inside but to blend in. They didn't need any unnecessary drama before the time came. Lei moved forward, slipping in to the room and searching for her prey. Within minutes, the others seemed to all be in position. Over her headset, she could here that Reed and his team had secured the GUNDAM and were ready to go. "I must say, you are quite the dancer. I'm guessing not many of the gentlemen here tonight can keep up with you." Deron poured on the charm as they twirled around the dance floor. It was nice to take a break from all the fighting and enjoy some of the finer things in life at least once in a while. Of course, he still knew he was on a mission and that the fighting would most likely come very shortly. Still, being in the company of the young Yamato was most rewarding. Deron's eyes glanced around quickly, surveying the crowd for his teammates. He was relieved to notice one blending in with the crowd. In fact, this particular team member had decided he was a little thirsty and that the punch was quite delectable. Deron did his best not to roll his eyes. Lei smiled and curtsied as was required. She didn't quite pass off as a guest so instead she chose to pass off as a waitress. That's what she got for not wearing a dress for the affair. The dark haired girl glanced around the room, almost choking on air as she noticed Deron dancing. Since when did he know how to dance? Actually, the whole thing seemed quite absurd to her. She'd have to quiz him about it later though she had to admit, he was quite good at it. Continuing her surveillance, she noticed some of the inner security getting riled up. It seemed they'd finally noticed something was off. Lei watched one of the guards deliver a message to the hosts of the evening. They looked rather familiar but she chose not to dwell on it. There were too many things about this place that brought her ill memories. "We need to move soon. The guards are getting suspicious, probably because their replacements haven't arrived." She spoke quietly into the headset before some idiot crashed into her. He must've had a bit too much to drink. Playing the part of the waitress, she apologized to the man and offered him a towel from nearby. |

Jamal sat and watched, annoyed as the two waltzed around the dance floor. That man had no right to cut in. It was incredibly rude of him, considering how close Miya and he had looked. Okay so it wasn't what it seemed, but it had been nice. The young Elsman only teased Yamato to hide how he felt. He had it bad for the princess yes. She didn't like him though, and that was what held him back. Had the situation been different he would have vehemently refused to let the blonde male cut into the dance, but for now, he could only watch him like a hawk. "Hardly! I must admit I'm the one who has had trouble keeping up this evening." Miya admitted. She wasn't finding it all that difficult to keep up with Deron though. It was like dancing with Jamal, only she wasn't falling asleep on his shoulder. "So tell me Deron, How come we have never met before?" "Jamal! Where's Miya." Jamal still hadn't taken his eyes off the dancing couple, and he was reluctant to when he heard Kira Yamato's voice in his ears. He had to look at the higher ranking pilot though. He met his eye, and Immediately stood. The look on Mr. Yamato's face was not one Jamal had come to like over the years. "SHe's on the dance floor sir." He answered automatically, "Whats wrong?" "The security shift switch never happened. Someone found the replacements unconscious all over the palace, and come haven't even been accounted for. Whats more is the prisoner escaped from the infirmary." Kira responded looking over at the dance floor "Where is she." Jamal followe dKira's gaze to the dance floor. Miya was nowhere to be seen, and neither was the guy who had been dancing with her. Jamal's heart stopped for a second, and his eyes widened. No. He never should have taken his eyes off them. "I'll recheck the room, get someone to check the gardens. He can't have gotten far with her." Jamal said, before taking off toward the crowd of dancing couples. Maybe he had just missed them. Please let it be that he had overlooked them. |

Lei looked away for a second and when she looked back, Deron and the girl were gone. Silently cursing the drunken fool who'd distracted her, she quickened her pace through the crowd, trying to catch onto Deron's trail. Was he going to the meeting point? The ship would be the ideal but Lei knew Deron didn't do things the conventional way. Grinding her teeth, she pushed through the crowd, being a bit rougher than needed. Much to her dismay the crowd seemed to have come to a standstill wherever they stood. Were they panicking already? Finally, breaking through the crowd, Lei stepped out into the gardens. Off in the distance she could see the tail end of someone she guessed was Deron. She broke out into a run, switching the gun into her left hand as she vaulted over the railing. From behind her, she could hear the fight finally starting. Women screaming, men yelling, gunshots. When did she become so accustomed to the sounds of war? "Deron, I swear to god if you-" She spoke into her headset, about to utter a threat when she heard something nearby. Lei stopped dead looking around her. Out of nowhere, the dark haired girl felt a sharp pain in her wrist. Her gun dropped to the concrete with an audible crack. Now her only weapon was broken, how very helpful. Lei grabbed the hand that came for her, twisting it around in an attempt to break it. She wasn't given the satisfaction however as she felt her feet slip out from underneath of her. With a quiet growl of frustration, she released the hand and rolled along the ground to prevent any injuries from the sudden impact. The attacker didn't wait to strike again, their foot coming toward Lei at break neck speed. She rolled closer to her attacker and grabbed the foot they balanced on, pulling it from beneath them. The attacker fell and it was at this point that she realized it was a man, not that it mattered much anyways. Pouncing on top of him, she moved to strike his face and debilitate him for some time. He surprised her by hooking his leg underneath hers. With a cry of pain, Lei rolled to the side, allowing the attacker to get the position of choice. He'd pinned her good arm by this point so she was left with no choice. Slamming her head forward, she managed to hit him in the head. "Shit!" He cursed but didn't release his hold on her. Lei began to kick wildly, not sure what else she could do in this situation. Had her arm not been injured, her situation would have looked a whole lot brighter. "Where are they taking her?" He demanded. Lei spat on him, earning herself a hard glare from him. She had expected retaliation of some sort but he didn't quite meet her expectations. "Where. Is. She." Lei could hear the frustration growing in his voice, as if his facial expression wasn't enough. He was also emitting some sort of low noise similar to a growl. She gave him a hard look. "You honestly expect me first of all to answer you? You're my enemy! And secondly, how the hell would I know who we've taken? I've been locked up in the medical wing since coming to Earth." "Jamal! We've got a lead! Some of the rebels are headed east of the base." The boy looked up at someone who Lei couldn't see. "Take some men and follow them. Get Ferris and Lochlan over here to take this girl into custody." The next few moments were a blur to Lei though she wasn't sure if it was because of the pain or the speed of everything. One second she was on the ground pinned, next she was being dragged up and apprehended. A tight grip on either arm seemed enough to keep her there. Jamal and the other men ran off, leaving Lei with just the two bodyguards, as she called them. The moment the others were out of sight, the young pilot made quick work of her captors. Within moments they were out for the count and Lei was on her way to the east side. She shouldered one of the men's guns as she ran the direction Jamal had gone. If she had any luck left in here, she'd catch up to them and find Deron. |

He had answered with a simple "I don't get out much". Miya wasn't quite sure if she should believe him or not. He was looking around the room every so often, as if trying to find something. They were also drifting toward one end of the dance floor, ever so slightly. "Come Princess. I wish to show you something." Deron exclaimed all too suddenly. Miya was Twirled out onto the balcony overlooking the gardens before she could answer. She was now intrigued, and did not argue, when he lead her quickly down the stairs to the hedge maze below. "I've seen every bit of these Gardens before Deron! I can assure you there is nothing in here you can surprise me with." She giggled, picking up her skirts with one hand as to run with him better. They turned corners, and ran up and down lengths of hedge before finally emerging in the rose garden. "Were getting a little far from the party" Miya exclaimed breathlessly as finally Deron slowed, "My father and My escort won't be happy. Maybe we should go back..." He surprised her by turning, and placing both hands on the sides of her head. Her head started swimming the closer his face got. She hadn't been prepared at all for this. Though it made sense now why they were so far out into the gardens. Nobody else was around, and they would not be spotted. They had absolute privacy for now. Her breathing, which had calmed some since they stopped running, hitched, then sped when he let his hands trail the length of her arms. He rested his forehead against hers, and grasped one of her wrists in his hand. She let her eyes close in anticipation. "Struggle or scream, and I will send word to the ballroom. Everyone inside will be killed on the spot." She found herself turned away from him, both hands secured behind her back with one of his. His other hand was holding a knife to her throat, and his voice was in her ear. Miya almost screamed for help, but with his threat ringing fresh in her ears, she closed her mouth, and forced the cry back down her throat. "Now walk, quickly Princess, cause we don't have all night." He gave her a little shove, and they started through the rosebush garden toward the property wall. Jamal took off toward the property wall. If they were anywhere in the gardens, they wouldn't be staying for long. He scouted the wall, ordering people here or there. He couldn't let them get away. He couldn't let them take Miya. "MIYA!" He spotted them, slipping through a gate near the rosebushes. He took off at top speed toward the gate. He was determined to make it, but there were so many bushes, trees, and sitting benches in his way that it only slowed him down more. By the time he got to the gate, he could hear the engines whirring to life. "I'm sorry Miya." He said, clenching his fists as he watched the GUNDAM take off into the night sky, "I will get you back." |

Lei had just made it in time to see the GUNDAM taking off. Quickly ducking into the bushes nearby, she turned her attention to her headset. She needed to know if anyone else was still around. "Lei speaking. Any soldiers on this line, respond." She waited a moment, only hearing cut out words. "Please repeat." Suddenly there was a high pitched sound transmitted over the headset straight into her ear. With a wince, she ripped the headset off and threw it to the side with some force. The noise could only mean one thing, all the rebels were gone. She had been left behind. "Ugh! Deron! You're such an idiot!" She cursed aloud, pissed that the guy had left her behind once again. Was it so hard for him to wait a second longer? He had a GUNDAM, the enemies only had measly guns. The advantage had obviously been in his favour. Or he could have told the others to get her out of there. It wasn't a hard concept, even for a thick head like Deron. Lei popped her head up from where she hid to gauge her surroundings. There appeared to be a small military team in this section of the garden. No doubt there were more crawling all over the base. She ducked back down and tried to keep her breathing quiet. Being found was the last thing she needed at this point. Jamal was furious at this point. He began yelling commands at the soldiers nearby, organizing them to sweep the gardens and secure all the exits. He himself made his way back toward the ballroom. Reporting the events that occurred to Kira and Lacus Yamato were top priority. He'd only been walking a few moments when he felt something crack under his foot. With a curious look, he knelt down to look at the broken object. A headset. Upon closer inspection, he realized it wasn't the ones the naval based used. Jamal heard the slightest rustle nearby. He wore a hard look as he investigated the bush. Within a moment, he pulled the girl from her hiding place. He quickly had both her arms behind her back, despite the pain it brought to her injured arm. "I don't know or care how you got free but you are not escaping again." He wore an indescribable expression on his face. The girl tried to fight for a short amount of time before she must have realized that there was no chance of escape or that struggling only caused her arm further pain. "Now you're going to tell me where they're taking her." Jamal gave a little tug on her tied hands, knowing the pain would make her open up a little bit. He didn't like this method but he needed answers. He needed to save Miya. "You can hurt me all you want but it's not going to make me talk." "Believe me, I'll find a way." He then roughly dragged her along behind as he made his way back to the ballroom. "Sir, we've successfully retrieved the target. Bringing her back to the base now." The head nodded in acknowledgment on the video feed in the Eternity. Deron then shut down the video feed and focused on piloting the GUNDAM off of Earth. He'd thankfully had time enough to at least tie up Miss Yamato to prevent any escape attempts. "Deron, Reed here. Did Lei go with you?" The blond pilot looked up at the new video screen. "No, I didn't see her at all. Maybe she caught a lift with some of the other guys?" Reed shook his head. This caught Deron's attention. Where was Lei? Surely she'd escaped from wherever she'd been held captive. "I met up with her and gave her some of my men. They said she followed after you but they didn't see her after that. All the men are saying that she's not with them." The green eyed pilot swore. One of hte main purposes of this mission was to get Lei back and she was still down there. What was worse was that they'd probably recaptured her. "Should we return and attempt to rescue-" "No, continue with the original mission. We need to head back to base." Deron cut off Reed's question. He couldn't think about it right now. It was important to get the Yamato girl to his commander before even thinking about helping Lei. She'd be okay there for a bit longer. |

Miya didn't scream. She didn't struggle. She wasn't going to cry. She wouldn't argue. She was going to play along, in hopes of preserving her life. Whatever they wanted, whatever they had to gain by taking her, she felt confident that they would get it. She was also in no mood to fight. She was unarmed, unaware of her surroundings, and completely unwell. So the pink haired princess closed her eyes as they ascended into the sky. Her head was almost splitting with pain at this point, her body ached with fatigue, and her ego had suffered some bruising. To say she saw any of this coming was a lie. This Deron was good at what he did. And so far what he did was charm girls, and kidnap them at their most vulnerable. And Miya had definitely fallen for that. To think she would have liked to have him kiss her. No. She couldn't think of that. It hurt her pride too much, and Miya was nothing if not proud. "DO NOT let her escape. If she breaks free, shoot her." Jamal ordered, handing the girl over to a few soldiers. He motioned for them to follow him, and they did. They ascended the steps to one of the ballroom balcony's, and re-entered the palace. It wasn't long before the fuming Jamal found the even more angry Kira. One look said it all, and Kira was sent into a rage. "How could you let this happen Jamal! You are supposed to watch over her, keep her out of danger, and you let her slip out from under your nose!" Jamal stood, and soaked up the criticism. It was not a well known fact that Kira often consulted Jamal to watch over his daughter. He was a bodyguard of sorts for her, but the trick to it was that nobody was supposed to know, not even Miya. "Kira. Its not his fault." Lacus said trying to intervene. "Yes it is." Jamal said "I was supposed to keep her safe, and I didn't and believe me when I say I will do whatever it takes to get her back." "No. You couldn't even keep her from being taken. I'll not have you trying to retrieve her." Kira dismissed him. "Kira...." Lacus spoke up again, trying to intervene. She was once again cut off by Jamal's retaliating comment. "With all due respect sir, I wasn't asking your permission. I don't care if you say yes or no, I will do EVERYTHING in my power to ensure she is returned to us alive and well." Jamal all but shouted. The two men stared at each other for a long time, an obvious power struggle happening between the two. The young Elsman was not about to back down to his superior this time. He had screwed up, and the only person that mattered to him had been snatched away. He didn't care what it took, he would see her well and happy and safe once more. It was Lacus who finally intervened. The tears had started streaming down her face when she realized what the look on Jamal's face meant. They had all been through this before, many years ago. The entire situation was a sore spot for everyone involved, and none of them looked forward to reliving those last five years. The uncertainty, the grief, and the heartbreak. "Kira," She spoke, her voice barely there, "Kira we can't lose her too!" Kira stared for a moment more, before turning away from Jama. He lead his wife away from the younger pilot, toward the Zala's on the other end of the room. Jamal knew a meeting was going to be set up, and from the lack of fight Kira had put up after his wifes words, he assumed he was allowed to take part. The young brunette turned to the soldiers. "Take her to a cell. If she makes even the slightest attempt at escaping, Shoot her." He said harshly. The two restraining her nodded, and started off to the holding cells. Jamal stopped the third, who had his gun trained on the prisoner the whole time, and added quietly to his ears only, "Don't aim for any vital spots. We need her alive." The soldier nodded discreetly, then took off to catch up with the other two guards. He watched until they were out of sight before he too left the ballroom. For now, he was getting his way. If he got to the meeting in good time, he wouldn't worsen the already less than good opinion Mr. Yamato had of him right now. That would give him more of a chance to fix the mistake he had made, when he let that man cut in. |

She watched silently as the men held her arms in a less than comfortable fashion. It seemed they'd learned. Lei had expected most of what had happened so far but there was something that surprised her. It was something that everyone should have noticed by now. They should all recognize her. Sure, she was five years older than she had been when she'd left but she hadn't changed that much appearance wise, had she? Deron hadn't said anything. Actually, it seemed like in his eyes she was still eleven years old. Lei listened to their exchange, even more confused at the end of it. The pilot didn't struggle as she was pulled off toward the cells. Confusion was on the fore front of her mind as the men roughly pushed her into the cell. They were taking extra care this time but she wouldn't have put up much of a fight anyways. Deron piloted the Eternity into the hanger of the Twilight. The trip up had been quite a bit quicker than he'd expected but he had no complaints. The young pilot was eager to hand over the girl and return to get Lei. Luck wasn't on his side today however. "Let's go princess." He said as the Eternity came to a stop inside the ship. The hanger crew went to work securing the GUNDAM immediately as the cockpit opened to reveal the two teens. Deron threw the girl over his shoulder as they descended to the floor. "Another successful mission. Congratulations Deron. A promotion may be in your near future." Deron's body tensed at the voice. He turned to face the white haired boy who spoke, setting the girl down on her feet. "Glad I could be of use, Anakin." He nodded in acknowledgment and they began to walk. Deron pulled Miya along beside him as they moved through various hallways. "And what of Lei? Reed seems to think she was caught." Anakin asked, his hands behind his back as he walked. Oh how Deron despised this man. Anakin was such a bumbling idiot without his father and sister to direct him. And for some reason, he seemed to think Deron his close friend. "She's smart. There is a chance she's just in hiding." He slowed down as they rounded another corner. They came to the intended door as Anakin stepped forward and entered a code into the security console. The door slid open. Deron looked down at the girl, a look of both pity and something else, before pushing her into the cell. "No matter. Retrieving her is top priority and when she returns, she is not to see or hear of Miya Yamato. Understood?" Deron nodded, closing the door to the cell. Anakin bid him farewell as Deron turned the corner, leaving the white haired boy to do what ever it was that he did. The young pilot had other things to worry about. Lei had been pondering for little over an hour, or at the very least that's what it seemed like. Had her existence just been forgotten when she'd left? It made sense. Lei herself had pretty much forgotten about her remaining family members when her parents had been killed. Her thoughts were halted when the door slid open to emit two guards. "What's going on?" Lei asked when they dragged her from the cell. "Shut your trap." The young pilot's mouth hung open at his rudeness. "Do you even know who I am?" "An enemy. That's all I care about." Lei shut her mouth and for once, didn't argue back. He had a point. It was actually beneficial for her identity to not be known. Had they known she was a Zala, things would have gone a lot different. She didn't mind passing under the radar at this point. She was much more collected when they reached the final door. |

Miya's mind was reeling. Lei? That had said that name right? Lei. As in her cousin. She was overwhelmed with emotion. Happiness, at the thought that she would be alive. Anger at her for staying away for so long. Disbelief that she would be in anyway associated with these people. To say she was a little confused would be an understatement. And there was nobody around to ask. She was all locked up and all alone, to contemplate what was going on. "HOW You keep suggesting we track them, but they are so far ahead we will never catch up." Someone said. Men and women were sitting, standing or pacing around in the boardroom. There were several maps, and lists placed all over the table. Several people were talking all at once, but the main conversation was the loudest. They were all scheming, and plotting, and devising plans to retrieve one girl from the enemy. "Does nobody have a way of tracking the rebels?" Another piped up. "The problem is what rebels have her. There are at least ten different rebel groups that could have pulled this off, maybe even an alliance between two or more." "And out of everyone here we have one prisoner, who refuses to talk." "This is all seeming a tad impossible at this point..." "ENOUGH!" The roar was not from Kira Yamato, as would be expected, but instead from Athrun Zala, "I don't care if she's not talking now. Bring her in. She'll have to say something eventually." Jamal watched as the entire room fell silent. To say they were all tense was putting it mildly. The stress levels of everyone in the palace right now had reached an all time high. The four leaders of Zaft and ORB were determined not to let anyone rest until Miya was once again within their reach. There was a long uncomfortable silence as they waited for the prisoner. Nobody quite knew what to say to help that matter. It was clear that neither Athrun or Kira would accept any talk of how improbable it seemed that they would ever see the Princess again. It would only upset the already distraught Lacus and Cagalli more. So nobody said a word, in fear of making the situation worse. "You will state your name to the council! Loud and clear girl!" The silence was broken with the arrival of the pisoner. The young Elsman graced her a mere scowling glance before turning back toward his superiors. The sight that greeted him there, was far more interesting. Athrun had gone pale, and his eyes wide. It was as if he had seen a ghost. Kira's mouth had dropped open. It looked like he had been about to say something and froze that way. Cagalli had her hands over her mouth, and her eyes were also wide and fearful, and Lacus had her arms around her sister in law. The pink haired commanders eyes were also wide, and flitting from the prisoners face, to Cagalli in her arms, and back again. Jamal sat up straighter, and looked at the prisoner again. Something about her had caused this reaction in all of them. Something he missed. Who was she? |
