Hi

Crossifitting at a gym brings some seriously dodgy looks, one guy was serioulsy not happy becuase i was using the space in front of the squat rack when doing c&j's, theres a mirror there that i was using to check my form (what lovely form it is!), i said to him i would be only a few more minutes when i finshed he picked up a set of dumbells and you guessed it starting doing dumbell curls!!, vain git!, i felt like screaming at him my arms are bigger than yours and i haven't done a single curl in a year, but that would make me vain!

Another guy deadlifting just with the bar but at the top of the movement leaning right back, i thought i was going to hear soemthing pop :o , he procced to do this for a few minutes beofre he went off and pumped his bicpes as well!!

OHS squats bring funny looks as well, like are you meant to do that?, hell yeah you are, just wish i could do it with weight!

Collapsing on the floor and leaving sweat angels is not pc as well, i need to mind my manners!

One guy actually asked me what i was doing, i was doing hang cleans at the time, i explained to him but he wandered off with a bemused look on his face, no doubt he pumped his biceps somewhere i wasn't looking.

Some seriously freaky bodybuilders at my gym, i wonder how they would cope with CrossFit??

Rant over

Aaron :D :D

p.s Watching all of the above makes me even more dedicated to teach CrossFit, and to really help people get the results they want.

Be sure in the knowledge that YOU are RIGHT and they are wrong, Buster!!

Before Big D opened our own wee gym, I used to quite enjoy the funny looks we got from the musclebound freaks. Although, I have to admit, it is so much better to work out in a friendly and supportive environment where everyone is on the same page.

I have loads of respect for the likes of you and littleredhead, working away on your own. I know that must be tough sometimes but as long as you keep your resolve and your focus, you will be doing just fine. Hopefully, the support and encouragement you get through your occasional visits to CrossFitCS and on this board, go some way to helping you do this. ;)

Thanks Jools, you are sooo right it is hard to keep your focus, especially when people down the gym are saying "forget that crossfit and workout properly", and nobody will join in with me. Oh I sound like Jimmy no mates now... ;)

Red, would you listen to them if they were a bunch of sloths sitting about stuffing burgers into their mouths, saying 'whatcha workin' out fur? don't bother with that, here have a chip"? NO! So don't listen to the overdeveloped musclies either. Treat them with the same disdain as you would the fatties!

We LOVE you princess.

Now l`il lady, who said I look at "fatties" with disdain, I certainly do not!!. We all have our goals and ambitions in life, thats what makes crossfit so unique in its own way, because it accommodates all shapes and sizes. In my view nobody is singled out, the body builders could teach us a thing or two about diet as they are the ones to learn from, their dedication is all to apparent to see. What I am trying to say is, everyone has a place and no-one should judge. I feel strongly on that, probably because I am judged all the time at my gym. Ok of the soap box me!! :D

Hey red, didn't mean to accuse you of anything here. Was only trying to find a reasonable analogy to say that you need to be true to yourself and your own goals. As a bit of a chubster myself, thought I could get away with the one I used. Also, with the bbs, my own experience has been that they are doing their thing not for health and fitness reasons but for more for vanity reasons. Not saying they are all like that. Was just trying to make the point that you shouldn't worry about what they say and to try and not let them get to you. Was trying to be supportive and am sorry if I caused offence. :(

One more gripe if i may!!, crappy collars on barbells, i swear they are going to kill somebody someday, why buy in olympic bars and not olympic collars??, we have these cheap nasty metal things that i have to keep tightening which afect my times (i need to have at least one excuse for my performances!), im going to speak to managment today about it.

Rant over

Peace

Aaron :ph43r:

Mentioned to the instructor at the gym about the collars slippling off the weights and the possibilty of me killing either myself or some poor bodybuilder, he said i was the first ever to mention it, and that none of the other people working out who are mainly bodybuiders ever said anything about it, and they do all the explosive movemetns i do!, my arse!! :D  , ive never seen one lift a weight above their head yet!!

Im off to ebay to buy some collars before i kill someone!!

BUSTER :D
