Hi all, Just moved back to the UK from overseas, in and out of edinburgh for the next few months then should be settled here for a good while. It is nice to be back, I grew up here as a kid. Been crossfitting properly for a few months, though i have dabbled with it for a while now. I am looking forward to coming to motherwell for some classes to get form checked out on a few things and generally get some pointers and tips. I suppose my 'sport' is climbing, which i am not great at but put a lot of effort into and have done a few things I am proud of. I have a long way to go, but still young so plenty of time to get there. My goals for the next while are to keep climbing, keep improving my times on the girls, and get to Rxd weights on the harder ones, also hoping to join the edinburgh uni weightlifting club and get some coaching on the olympic lifts. Are there many crossfitters working out in Edinburgh, or does everyone travel to motherwell? I know a lot of people work out at home, but just wondering if anyones meeting up for some communal suffering? Anyways look forward to meeting the edinburgh crossfit community, max |

Hi Max, welcome to the board! There are a few Edinburgh CrossFitters that I know of but on here the only one we have is Spider - who is also a climber. Unfortunately, we are only operating one group class a week as we are currently homeless, with the gym having no permanent home, I do however still train people either in the park with a group session on a Saturday morning and also private sessions at my home ( inteh garden) and at the park. However, you do have 2 other dedicated CrossFit gyms that you can travel to - CROSSFIT SCOTLAND @ BASIX GYM in Irvine and the newest affiliate iin Scotland - CROSSFIT FIFE in Dunfermline who are due to open on the 2nd of August If you click the above links there wil be contact details to get in touch with either Neil or Ron at CrossFit Scptland and also Simon at CrossFit Fife Why not set up a training log so you can keep a record of your training, and also check out some of our training logs welcome again! |

Thanks Davie, Yeah I gathered that you were currently gymless, I will just have to come for a back garden session, might be little while before I can make it over there as Im stuck down south (bournemouth) finishing off a course for a few weeks. I'll get in touch when I can make it to organise something. I think I may have run into 'spider' last year at the weight room in Meadowbank, he was very helpful and showed me some good clean drills and gave a much needed critique of my front squat! Irvine seems a bit of a way to go for a workout but I will definitely check out Fife, it's good to see that cross-fit is expanding so quickly in scotland. Don't know that anyone would be interested in my day to day training in a log, but I may start something just to keep track of long term progress and share any crossfit induced progress. Thanks again for the help, I will get in touch again in a month or so when I'm back in town to organise a training session. max |

hi max - sorry for the late reply....just noticed your post d'oh! I dont have a new facility and i have decided to put that on hold. I am doing a sesion in a local park on a Saturday morning, and also training people from my home - I have all my kit in the garden and the shed! If you fancy coming through for a session let me know and we can organise something |
