Character Template Name: Julia Adnoss Actual Age: 24 Visual Age: 20 Nickname/Alias: The Drowned Gender: Female Race: Shinigami Allegiance: None Influence: 0 Appearance: A young twenty year old woman in her prime. She is 5’9” in height, and weighs in at 147 pounds. She is in athletic form, with toned muscles and long legs that might suit a dancer, though Julia ran track. She has fair, if overly serious features, with a slightly upturned nose and piercing almond-shaped eyes, a light blue in color. Her hair was once brown, but has gone stark-white after her death, and hangs to the middle of her back, with bangs that frame her face and hang just slightly down around her eyes. She isn’t buxom by any means, but she is not entirely lacking in that department either. Julia’s eyes are bloodshot to an extreme, as with someone who has passed from asphyxiation, and there are blotted spots where vessels burst. Her skin is pale and her full lips have a blueish hue, further lending to her “ghostly” appearance. She dresses just as she used to, which sort of detracts from the aforementioned ghost look; a college girl wearing comfortable workout clothes and trendy anything, though she tends to wear a jacket over anything, seemingly cold all the time. She seems to wheeze with every breath, and her voice has a slight rasp to it. Personality: Julia is a droopy and quiet individual. Before death she was cheerful and full of life, but being robbed of that seems to have dampened her spirits. She seems fixated on the fact that she is dead, and will be unable to live her life with her old friends and family. She misses her classes, misses gossip, and misses shopping and sports. She misses everything about being alive, and as such seems to be in a near constant state of depression. She is not without hope, but the pervasiveness of Honeumi’s subtle reminders and her own guilt revolving around her death and the death of one of her best friends makes it hard for Julia to find that former happiness. Julia is always searching for the new thing that will make her content again, never really feeling at ease by herself, and so she tends to find comfort in the presence of others. Even if it’s people she normally wouldn’t get along with. An extrovert in life, Julia is fond of making new connections, but she finds her previous charisma is severely dampened by her new reality. While she has had a hard time accepting the changes in her life, she is capable of understanding them, and Julia tends to be a pragmatic individual. She is especially wary of death, having gone through it once and fearing what might happen the next time around. Despite her fear of death, Julia is driven by Honeumi to seek out battle and send souls beyond. Honeumi seems unconcerned with the target of her desires, but Julia is able to curb the sword’s bloodlust and take her time finding suitable targets to kill. Julia will not attack innocents, and it is usually only by being provoked that she will act first. Otherwise Julia tends to seek out creatures that would prey on others, and as long as she doesn’t go too long between kills, Honeumi doesn’t seem to mind reaping hollows and such things. With her newfound powers, Julia has gained a level of insight into life and death, and her worldview has changed because of it. She’s seen life after, which in a sense calms that natural human existential worry, but it has also trivialized so many of the things Julia used to enjoy. She still misses all her old human worries, but she finds them far less effectual and interesting, which is perhaps why she misses being alive so much; being dead has tainted everything in life that Julia used to love. History Equipment: Items:
Combat: Julia is new to her weapon, but it seems to instinctively guide her in it’s usage. Julia will use her sword to make fluid sweeping strikes, usually whittling away at someone or otherwise using long winding cleaving attacks. Though she would prefer to dodge, Julia will use Honeumi to parry if possible, and is most fond of counterattacks. With the help of her blade she flows about the battlefield, light on her feet and almost always in motion, and dodging only seems to aid Julia in striking her opponents, often swinging at unexpected angles. Though Honeumi is a single-handed weapon, she uses her other at times to guide it, tracing the weapon and ensuring it’s path to the opponent, or further helping her deflect strikes in a profitable way. Julia is capable of using kidou, though because Honeumi can be somewhat demanding, she’s only practiced using binding arts capable of further ensuring that her sword can meet its target. This is useful in defense too, as Julia prefers to dodge more than anything else, and defensive kidou naturally enhance her ability to do so. When Honeumi is unleashed, Julia’s style will change. She will use her weapon with both hands about half the time, given that Honeumi is suited to do so in its released state. She becomes more aggressive, actively trying to deliver souls to their destinations. She still moves constantly, using flowing and long sweeping strikes to cleave and cut, and Julia will almost completely stop thrusting; Honeumi becomes too long to be effective at such attacks, but it lends itself better to maiming its targets. Even slight attacks can be deadly, given the decaying effect of Honeumi, so Julia generally does not need to land huge crushing blows to beat an opponent; she can whittle them down if need be. Honeumi prefers these slow and inevitable types of situations, further reinforcing her obsession with death and mortality. Rather than riposte at this point, Julia will almost exclusively try to avoid attacks, and if she cannot do so she may just take something head on if it will ensure that her opponent is reminded of their oncoming passage into the afterlife. Zanpakutō Name: Honeumi Manifestation: Honeumi manifests as a gargantuan skeletal whale, with bits of rotting flesh that seems to constantly slough off of it, leaving a deep brown trail behind it. It floats around in it’s inner world, a boundless ocean in a black sea. A red moon hangs above the water, casting paltry light down into the waters, and at the ocean floor is a never-ending ship graveyard. Bones and skeletons of all sorts, human or otherwise, can be seen scattered all across the floor of the sea, many of which defy all terrestrial logic. When Julia enters into Honeumi’s realm, she is constantly floating in a middle area between the surface of the water and the water’s floor, unable to swim to the surface but unable to reach the bottom. Honeumi herself swims around constantly, even when engaging with Julia, as if restless. Honeumi does little talking, but always seems to push Julia towards a fatalistic approach to any situation. It would seem the being has an obsession with death, and everything she says has a certain finality to it. She constantly drives Julia to deliver others to the afterlife, and seems to love reminding Julia of her own death. Incantation: Sorera o obore saseru, Honeumi! Sealed Form: An ornate jian of questionable origin, sporting a 3’ blade that seems worn but not rusted. The hilt and cross are copper in color, and from the base of the hilt is a small ring from which a 2’ two-tasseled red cloth hangs. The hilt itself is one-handed, and the cross extends only a short bit from the blade, about 3” in either direction. The middle of the blade is adorned by a fuller running the length of the blade, an uncommon addition to a traditional jian. The blade of the jian is just slightly thicker than it usually would be, and though the weapon is old in nature, it is exceedingly sharp. Released Form: Upon release Honeumi seems to elongate slightly, the normally steel-colored blade becoming blackened and tinged with rust. The cloths on the hilt become withered and frayed, and seem to be stained a slight-brown, as though dried with blood. The normally copper hilt and guard become rusted and take on a greenish tint, and the hilt itself elongates slightly, allowing for two-handed swings. The integrity of the weapon seems to be unhindered, though the very nature of Honeumi takes on a new tone, becoming harder to wield but far more aggressive in nature. Abilities: Honeumi is a sword obsessed with death and decay, and the finality of life, and as such seems to govern some aspects of these things. The weapon radiates a sickening feeling to those around it, and simply being near it reminds people of their mortality, be they human, shinigami, or otherwise. Honeumi’s blade seems to bite at flesh with every strike, and lends to an accelerated decay factor, hastening people to their death. Honeumi is also cool to the touch, and though you would think that the frigid underworld would halt decay, it only seems to hinder those that it has chosen to afflict and drag down, and it radiates such temperatures from it in a mist that can obscure the blade. Your character has won the deletion lottery! From here on, you can go begin a new character concept. Make sure you cry a lot, cause this character will never grace the crossroads with her presence. You suck, you're a disgrace to the bone ocean. |
