Fighting Styles

Considering this is a forum that takes place in the universe of Dragon Ball, I'm sure everyone here is at least somewhat familiar with the phrase "Martial Arts". Dragon Ball, being a fighting manga and anime series, was heavily influenced by the concept of Martial Arts and we see both Goku and Kuririn (Krillin) train under Roshi to learn the Turtle style of Martial Arts and while we don't see as much we are told the same of Tienshinhan in terms of the Crane School. So how does that affect you here on Legacy?

Fighting Styles are a unique form of technique that you CAN choose to start with that take up two technique slots and cannot be upgraded. You can learn multiple fighting styles but you can only switch fighting styles once per turn (Doing so costing 1 AP). So how does this work? Where does all this play into the combat system? Well, your fighting style determines three things:

  • The damage of your Physical and Energy basic attacks
  • The unique bonus from your combat stance
  • The AP cost of your basic attacks

Okay, so then what about a player that has no fighting styles learned? How do they calculate their basic attack damage, cost, and the ability of a stance?

A player with no Fighting Styles learned has the "Untrained" Fighting Style

Untrained (Fighting Style)
Stance Ability: None
Damage of Physical Basics: 1% of your Power Level
Damage of Energy Basics: 1% of your Power Level
AP Cost: .5 Per Basic

For custom fighting styles, we will balance them. Don't expect huge damage numbers and cheap basic attacks, because this will be shot down and a balance change will be given. Stances are a passive bonus for combat and do not apply to gains. Feel free to be crazy with designing these, but again realize that in the end, the ultimate goal is balance.

Regardless of combat style, every 5th basic attack in a single turn applies the "Fatigue" debuff to you that reduces your Basic Attacks damage by 10% for the remainder of the turn.
