THE DEATH DOJO ESTABLISHED January 2017 LOCATION Tokyo, Japan TRAINERS SPIDER Head Trainer Drugged out, Satan-worshipping, horror movie-loving, metalhead weirdo maybe-serial-killer who does deathmatches for fun. Has a lot of experience in Japan. Helped train the first DTW World Champion, Kalinda Kriegsdottir. Hellkat Assistant Trainer She's absolutely bat shit crazy and weird. CURRENT STUDENTS Many who come through the Death Dojo doors fail to come back the next day. Half of them quit after their first hour. These are the current students who keep coming back in pursuit of their Death Dojo medal. - Masatake Kawamata (Active wrestler in DTW, Slaughterhouse, KAMIKAZE Pro, WarZone, and MAX-J. January 2018 graduation.) - Hanako Takeuchi (Active wrestler in DTW, Slaughterhouse, KAMIKAZE Pro, and WarZone. January 2018 graduation.) - Atasuke Tsukade (Monstrous 16-year-old from Kyoto who won free tickets to the 1st Anniversary Show by uploading a video of himself powerbombing his grandmother.) - Shakur Williams (Won the DTW Eternal Warfare Championship in his first ever wrestling appearance. Was instructed to attend the Death Dojo by Goro Yamashi.) IC DOJO DECLERATION “As we proved with Masatake Kawamata, the door in DTW is open and anyone can jump in the ring if they think they have what it takes to make it in the world's most dangerous wrestling promotion. We understand that many active professionals might not see themselves fitting in with the aesthetic of DTW, and we understand that we will need to somehow bring in more wrestlers to achieve our biggest goals as a promotion. So while I have my scouts out there looking for active professionals, DTW will also take steps to develop homegrown stars who will be trained to handle the most intense deathmatch environment. I would like to announce the opening of the DTW Death Dojo here in Tokyo. We have signed the hardcore legend, SPIDER, to be the Head Trainer. SPIDER has years of experience in the Japanese deathmatch scene. He will be joined by his Assistant Trainer, Hellkat. Those two played a big role in the development of our first and current DTW World Champion, Kalinda Kriegsdottir. The goal of the Death Dojo is to bring up students who can take on opponents like Kalinda or Teiji Shintaro. Many have turned down DTW because they wondered how they're supposed to fight someone like those two. The Death Dojo is open to everyone for training, but its main purpose is develop young wrestlers and make sure they are prepared for Death Trip Wrestling. With SPIDER and Hellkat, and a few guest trainers on occasion, students at the Death Dojo will receive world class training. And unlike other wrestling dojos in Japan, our students will not be restricted. Yes, they will be humbled by our trainers, but they will not be required to wear all-black ring attire like other dojos make their students. We want our students to freely express themselves in and out of the ring. Death Dojo students are expected to go out and win, and not just take pins or tap out every night like students of other dojos. Death Dojo graduation will be determined by SPIDER. As the Head Trainer, it is up to him to decide when a student can graduate from the dojo and receive a medal. The Death Dojo medal will be a respected symbol of hard work, understanding of this business, and excellence in deathmatch wrestling – something that Death Dojo students can take with them anywhere they go in professional wrestling.” - DTW Promoter Goro Yamashi. Taken from this press conference on January 11, 2017. OOC DOJO DECLERATION The Death Dojo was created because I could see someone starting a rookie/young character, coming to DTW or observing from the outside and thinking, “How the fuck do I write against dragons and shit-flinging maniacs at this point in my character's development? Where do I go?” The Death Dojo is the in-character place they attend to improve, or at least give them something to do when they come through the door. It can give them a narrative to follow along with as well. They have their dojo initiation up to their graduation. The graduates receive a sweet medal. The difference between our dojo and the real life ones, other than the crazy hardcore shit, would be that the students could actually win matches and title belts instead of eat pins and tap every night. Also, someone already in DTW might want to start a new character and this could give them a starting point that everyone would be familiar with. Handlers of young/rookie characters might be approached regarding Death Dojo enrollment following sign-ups. This could happen regardless of any previous training or experience the character might have had before. Do not take a offense to this because it's more about your character's story development in DTW than anything else. It's part of making sure you have something to build from starting on your first day here. Edited by Ryan, Jan 5 2018, 12:18 AM.
