By liberty leave I mean that's the term they use when servicemen are allowed to go on a special holiday when visiting bases/ports outside where they are based where they can go and relax and do whatever until they have to report back for duty :ph43r : |

We use the term liberty here too, for a similar purpose, don't forget all of the Navies in the world have based thier system on that of the Royal Navy, the oldest and finest Navy the world has ever seen, and before you question that, have a look at the US Navy uniform and notice that the design is older than your Country. |

When the updates appear...our whole family goes ito "War cabinet" mode. "Dad if you go there...and he attacks that..." "Shut up and finish off that trench near the patio door" "Extra rations this week..due to prolonged attack on Saf..i hear from the stores( i mean kitchen) "ok these are the orders for this move....all those in favour..put your Wi controller down and say Aye!" |

Saf will have written a program to calculate the optimal move in every given scenario. But... as we found with the football league, it is possible to beat him with no calculations at all and blind luck. |

Well... preserving your sanity would be the primary reason I think, but also worth considering is avoiding the possible nausea, headaches, and hair-loss that have been associated with extended reading of the kind of nonsense I tend to write. |

Nah, I'm doing it all only with my brain this time. You can't write a good problem when you don't know all the rules.
I'm not sure I mentioned, but at the last place I worked I won the World Cup prediction competition against 50 other people by using a bit of probability theory (expected value functions and all that) applied to the odds from an internet bookmaker... |

If you want to join you can, but I'm afraid you'd just get 2 nations and 9 troops randomly distributed between the two, leaving you rather vulnerable. If you are sure, tell me the colour of your team and I'll add it next go, if there are any neutral nations left. |

Not wanting to sound boring, but some of us might not have factored extra people joining the game into our tactics, at this stage in the game it could influence it heavily. Maybe you could get the opinions of all the players first Glerica? |

I hate to complain (well, actually I love to complain, but that's another issue), but this seems rather unfair on me and asxtc - assuming DPL conquers ITH, then the new nations are going to appear next to weakly defended nations belonging to the two of us, severely disadvantaging us compared to the other players. |

Hmmm I see what you mean, and I suppose new people can't just randomly join a Risk game once in play. Sorry Forthampton, I don't think you can be let in. Perhaps next time? |

As far as next time is concerned, do you reckon itd be practical to make the board a lot larger so we can increase the amount of players? |

In real life, neutral nations do end their neutrality at some point... I just wanted one of those, with the troops already there...

I know, but it would be unfair to the other players who have battled this long only to face a new enemy. Also P-17, I decided to let 6 people play because I thought that's all I could really handle, and of course becasue of the map size. Perhaps if a future game happens, I'll make the map much bigger and maybe get some new gameplay ideas going. |

Yeah, 6 made sense to me, as that is the number in Risk, but I can see this game as a long term thing, so more nations over a wider area might prove interesting. Especially as it would be different to the scale of Risk. But if you can only handle so much then fair enough, its great that you can organise this one as it is. |

Yea generally Risk is designed for 4-8 players, and I've usually seen either 5 or 6 players play in one sitting. A couple of times there were 8, and that's because we were all bored one night and someone had the 40th anniversary set (me :D) :ph43r: |
