1st Free Edition Running of the Squid The people of Othimskad are rejoycing due to the popular annual event running again. The people hope that this year will bring the selected convicts more luck than last. For our foreign readers, the Running of the Squid is an age old tradition in othimskad where 10 selected prisoners are given their freedom if they can (blindfolded) outrun a very hungry squid and reach a small island in the bay before having their skins horribly peeled off by said squid. Given this glorious event, the city was busy with festive citizens placing bets on prisoners, and enjoying all manner of other amusing side-shows. The people of Othimskad are encouraged to enjoy this event and refrain from creating any unwelcome incidents. ---------- MoFA Shock! A select group of Othimskad's citizens gathered at short notice for a meeting on the deck a small ship anchored in Othimskad City's harbour. This was deemed to be a suitable location, as the city itself is currently in the middle of the yearly "Running of the Squid" celebrations. Clam soup was served during the meeting, so as not to break up proceedings. The subject of the meeting was the issue of Othimskad being given the Ministry of Foreign Affairs. This was truly a worrying turn of events, as having once stood for the title, the people of Othimskad did not believe that they would ever be voted into a position of power, and now required some method of stalling until a strategy can be drawn up. It was agreed that the first and most important task would be to establish a fact finding mission to ascertain what this ministry position actually entails. Those present at the meeting noted that the manifesto created for the previous, unsuccessful attempt at election was created before the current political climate came upon us. Given that currently levels of participation in the region are low, combined with a lower amount of nations than previously, the approach of "do nothing" might not be in England's best interests after all. Combined with the loss of some valued nations of England, a weak/inactive foreign ministry would not be beneficial. It was also agreed that the day of election will henceforth be a national holiday in Othimskad, and that giving a substantial tax break to seaweed farmers, along with the current festivities would keep the free media too occupied to ask awkward questions. Restructuring of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs will be undertaken, it was agreed. The section on the forum is out of date, and needs revitalising. Any current dealings, treaties, alliances, friendships, etc. would need to be accounted for and (unless there is sufficient reason not to) laid bare for the nations of England to see. Once this has been achieved then a strategic plan for England to follow in the foreign arena can be devised. The group felt that it would be unwise to announce any grand plan now. First the foundations need to be strong (or at least accounted for). ---------- 23rd Annual Clamathon Applications for the Clamathon are now closed. Teams are still reminded that due to last year's terrible accident, each team will be limited to one hot air balloon only. As per usual, Othimskad City Bay will be off limits to all vessels during the event. Equally, all air vehicles apart from team-licensed hot air balloons, and the OC-TV blimp are grounded for the duration of the event. Teams are reminded that due to the unpredictable and usually long duration of the Clamathon a high level of physical fitness is required. Free training training camps are available for the 7 core disciplines (running, swimming, climbing, cycling, rowing, fencing and sailing) will be running for the next month. |

Does the "Second Edition" cost then ? It's nice to see that the Othimskad citizens directed most of thier attention to the task at hand...and not seen the new position as a way to increase Clam Soup exports.

See, that's how it works - they lure you in with free copies and then, once you're hooked - BAM! The price goes through the roof!
