Also altered phalanx system is a thing for saldrenius's followers so military organization andtactics would likely have progressed.

Awesome! It'll be really interesting seing what become of the people in the gods' absence.

I'll try to get the character sheet things to you guys tonight, so you can start retconning where necessary and do some world building.

I also need to start preparing a sort of "welcome to deus plani, here is what you need to know" type thing. If someone wants to help with that, it would be really cool, as I am going to be busy busy over the week.

I think Last Parent is likely to freak out over this. Like, 'WHAT THE FUCK, ASTRAL? I THOUGHT WE STILL HAD A FEW DECADES BEFORE YOU FLIPPED THE FUCK OUT!' Except externally dignified. And then it is likely to modify its people into an Astral Stabilisation Device because holy shit half the local universe just exploded and that is a bad thing.

Right, so the general template for retconning your god is as follows:

Code: Astrals

Name
Domains
Nicknames/monikers
Description of appearance
Symbols
Important People/Prophets
Culture
Technologies:
Past Events
(Brief summary of important events, preferably in bullet point format like the above)

Code: Primals

Name
Nicknames/monikers
Description of appearance
Essences
Past Events
(Brief summary of important events, preferably in bullet point format like the above)

Nicknames and domains are of course optional.

Example

These do not have to be fully comprehensive for existing gods and players, as I already have notes. Mostly just note anything you want to change or add. However, and this is more aimed at new people who may be seeing this, if you want to create an "old god," who will have an impact on the divergent cultures of the new world, you will want to provide ample details.

Worldbuilding

On top of submitting your retcons and new old-gods, you will also get some say in how things have diverged in the gods' absence. Essentially this is your opportunity to state what your goals were for your people to become, and then see it realized. This would be things like the culture that has arisen in a given geographic area, and what advancements have been made. It can also include what sort of ethnicity your people have become[1], and if the land itself has any sort of fantastical elements. I am uncertain how far we want to take this part in particular, as in keeping things fairly human or going full on fantasy races. Both can be fun I think. Likewise for changing the world around you, I am unsure how fantastical places will be just yet, but they at least have the potential to change more than they naturally would. Ultimately I'll leave it up to you guys how far we take this. Additionally, beast races, you get to design the end game plan for what you want your critters to become. Be sure to include what they look like, their average life span, average breeding rate, any special traits they might have, and any other relevant information I need to know about them. You have a lot of opportunity here to make your beasties into what you want, just make sure it can be tied back into whatever the original animal was.

Keep in mind that the god's leaving in and of itself has some pretty hefty implications. One, it was triggered when everyone got a face full of Dodsfald, so interpret that as you will. On top of that however, the gods had to disappear because all the energy was essentially drained from the world. Gods couldn't talk to their people, and things that relied upon their direct communion would have stopped. There was enough energy left to drive the changes that have been going on, but not quite like it was before the Dodsfald strife.

A Note on Ethnicities: I just want to take a moment here to address making unique ethnicities. We will want to be very respectful here, and treat this with a lot of caution and tact. There are a lot of ethnicities in the real world, and we certianly don't want to make any sort of unfortunate implications by saying one ethnicity is evolving into another. All people are equal, and no one trait makes any group better. For that reason, I would say only address ethnicity if your people are becoming a fantastical race. This will either be handled by having your people becoming a sort of ethnicity, with traits indicative of the end goal species, or either having becoming a brand new species outright.

Other than that, keep in mind that this is all ultimately up to my interpretation. I will try to make things develop in a way that is satisfying to everyone, but of course in this extreme a time jump a lot of things happen. An entire region might have influences from the old gods that were there before, but much of it will have changed, and very little of it will be fully preserved. I will also be adding in little elements of my own, at least in some instances, so you won't quite know what exactly the world holds until we hop on in.

If you have any questions, feel free to ask me. I'm a bit tired right now, so I'm sure some of this wasn't exactly clear :p

So it occours to me I may have had some confusion about the term ethnicity, and may have been confusing it with race

Ethnicity refers to cultural factors, including nationality, regional culture, ancestry, and language. So things like culture, think Spanish as opposed to German ancestry.

Race refers to a person's physical characteristics, such as bone structure and skin, hair, or eye color.

I apologize for my confusion on this.

Anywho, how does this relate to DP? Well, I suppose you guys will be inventing ethnicities of sorts.
I still want you guys to be able to make fantastical races though, but as I said, we'll want to treat this with care and tact. So if you want to make your people super lanky, purple eyed, green haired elves, awesome! If you want to go and turn all the brown people into white people... well, lets stay away from that.

I bring this up not because I think anyone here is racist, or a bigot, or anything like that, but I worry what would happen if someone stumbled upon the website and misconstrued what was going on as racism, or bigotry.
I dunno, it does feel like a hairy sutuation all around, haha. I'd love to hear your thoughts on the matter!

And finally, as you world build, dont forget to mention if you're taking your prophets with you, or leaving them behind to stay in your absence.
Also, I still encourage posting and what not in round 8!

So, should we post the worldbuilding and everything on this thread, or on another new one?

A very good question. I suppose I will create a thread in the gameplay sub-forum for that.

Okay, think I got all the relevent information consolidated into the :Whole New World thread. Just waiting on Conriocht, Starlora, Ramensoup, and Chocolate Sawfish to do their worldbuilding.

I would say Citrakayah too, though as Richard pointed out, there's not a whole lot of reason for primals to do worldbuilding, since they won't be there for it. I think I'm going to retcon them as a whole to not have appeared until all the gods are returning.

There is an exception to one group of primals though, as we may have a returning player...

Once we get a bit more world building in from the above mentioned players, it shouldn't take long at all to get the next round up. Exciting!

In the meantime I'm going to try to get a new player guide up and running. Mostly it'll just give the break down on what astrals and primals are, and how some of the gameplay works and what not. Once the new world is up, I thought I would see if we can't get a few new players. That said, I think I'm going to limit it at around 15 player spots in total, so as to not get overwhelmed.

And at last, the Player Guide 2.0 is finished!

With this advertising for new blood begins! I'm only going to allow a max of three people to make "old" gods I think, and only in specific cases, so we probably won't be seeing a whole lot of new gods appear until Round 9 gets posted.

That said, we are dangerously close to being able to move forward with the time jump, and with it the start of Deus Plani: Avocations of the Gods. I only need to know what ramensoup, starlora, and sawfish want to become of their people during the gods absences, as well as if any new "old" gods will be appearing, though I think I have a good enough idea of what will be going on to start working on the opening and some responses.

As always, I'm hesitant to make any sort of expected release date, but I have next weekend off, and should be able to work on DP some during the week. I don't think Sunday night my time should be an issue.

I'm excited! I hope you guys are too!

Citrakayah

And put something along the lines of :

Hey guys, Oyster acting through another here, because he is a sad-sad little monkey, but wants to make sure you guys can see the post. Round 9 should be coming Sunday night, and with it the new game begins. If you haven't already, and you are playing an astral, you may want to get your world building in before then.

Remember, this isn't necessary, but it will certainly help move things along for you if you're wanting your people to develop a certain way. Likewise, if you are wanting to draft an old god, or revive one of the old beast gods, the sooner you do that the better.

All the best!
