Vivi sat down in the cold cave and accepted a small bowl of soup from Ursula, the bear beastkin. Ursula's dogs stood by her side, clearly worried about her owner's injured leg.

"Lumi, you should eat some soup too, it'll warm you up some."

Vivi thought about everything that had happened thus far. Finding the group, the attack by the strange wolf-like beast, and how Mary had been killed by it. How the captain had mentioned looking for the Aurora Tower and what could have happened to him and Jacob...

Lumi shivered as she sat close to the others, holding her knees close to her chest and wrapping her tail tightly against herself. She accepted the bowl from from Ursula, mouthing the words "thank you" and warming her hands on the dish before taking small sips.
"--choo~!" Lumi sneezed abruptly, almost spilling the soup as she sniffled.

As they ate the dogs slowly approached the two, until one of them placed its head on Lumi's lap, looking up at her. Ursula chuckled, "Looks like she likes you. They don't normally take to other people too well, you must really be good people."

Her joyful demeaner quickly turned grim as she looked at the ground.

"I'm sorry you had to get pulled into this...mess."

"It's okay...I took this mission knowing the risk."

Vivi grabbed a few sticks and a few strands of her pink hair. It wouldn't be much, but it'd be something. She began to work on Ursula's leg, ignoring the occasional growl from the dogs as Ursula winced in pain.

"That's nice and all, but I wasn't referring to you. Lumi, can you ever forgive us?"

Lumi was distracted by her food, side eyeing the dogs as the grew closer. She glanced back and forth between the dogs and Ursula, picking out a small piece of meat out of her bowl and sneaking it to one of the dogs as their master looked away.
She finished her soup and one of the dogs inched close enough to lay it's head on her lap. Lumi's ears perked up in surprise, but as they relaxed she couldn't help but smile as the animal settled in. Her hands hovered for a moment with her empty bowl in one hand, timidly lowering her hand to gently pet the dog on his head.
She had been completely oblivious to the conversation of the others until she heard her name.
"...Lumi, can you ever forgive us?"
Her ears perked up once more in attention, her eyes wide as though she was just called on by the teacher.
Realizing what Ursula had been speaking of she stumbled with her words.
"Y-yes! I mean... it is not your fault.... all of this... had happened... I do not blame you... I just wish to help you in any way that I can." She continued to pet the dog, warming her fingers in his thick coat.

Ursula's face lit up at the words, "I-I'm glad. I wasn't sure how you would feel about all of this...Listen, leave while you can. Forget about us, just head south and get as far from here as you can. The captain...he...he did something he shouldn't have...and we're all suffering because of it..."

"W-what did he do?"

"He...wait...can you hear that?"

A howl pierced the air. It seemed to be coming from deeper within the cave. That familiar howl sent chills down Vivi's spine. She was quick to stand up.

"I-its in the cave! We have to get out of here!"

The howl continued to get louder...and closer, as it shook the walls of the cave...and the large icicles above began to crack...

The warmth from the dogs head on her lap and fur through her fingers helped to warm Lumi up immensely, her fingers no longer as blue as they had been a few moments ago. Lumi ears pressed against her head and head tilted to the side at the conversation between Vivi and Ursula, when the sound of the howl pierced the ears of the crew, earning an instinctual whimper out of Lumi, her ears upright and the fur of her tail fluffing up considerably.

They ran for the exit of the cave, the walls of the cave shaking and causing the icicles hanging from the ceiling to crack and begin to fall towards the team.
"NO!" Lumi yelled out, using her ice creation magic to throw cannonball sized balls of ice at the falling icicles, causing them to shatter, as Lumi tripped over her own feet. Scuffing the palms of her hands as she caught herself and continued after the others.

As the icicles shattered, and small pieces of ice fell down harmlessly, the howl continued to shake the walls. Mist came from deeper in the cave, covering everything it touched with ice. The dogs ran ahead of the group, leading the way towards the exit. Vivi noticed Ursula struggling to keep up, and Lumi falling. There was no time to lose. Vivi grabbed Ursula and lifted her onto her back, and grabbed Lumi's hand. She then used all her strength to pull them along. Up ahead she could see the cave's exit. Vivi grunted as she tossed Ursula out of the cave, and looked back as the cavern collapsed in on itself, and the howling stopped.

"W-we made it out...t-thanks Lumi. If it wasn't for you we'd..."

"We'd be flatter than a pancake." Ursula smirked as the dogs jumped around happily.

"Ooh--woah~!" Lumi gasped as Vivi grabbed her by the hand and pulled her forward, the group making it out of the cave just in time for the entrance of the cave to collapse. Lumi's eyes were wide and her heart was beating out of her chest as she saw just how close they had come to being crushed.
Lumi tried to speak but all that came out was a small squeak and a nod, ears pressed against her head.

Ursula smiled at the girls. "I'd love to help you find the others, but I don't think i'd offer much help myself...oh! Lynn!"

One of the dogs ran up to her, wagging its tail. It seemed like it was the one Lumi had pet earlier. "Lynn here has a great sense of smell and should be able to help you find the others. Besides, I think she likes you." Ursula gave Lumi a big grin. "Since the storm is gone I should be able to make my way back to town. If I find out the others made it back, I'll send someone to get you."

Vivi nodded as Ursula left.

"I think the only ones left were Jacob and the captain..."

Lynn began sniffing before taking off towards the frozen lake in the distance.

"Well, guess she found something, come on!"

Lumi couldn't help but smile as the dog wagged its tail in excitement, her own tail wagging slightly in response, before she quickly noticed and reached behind herself to grab a hold of it and stop its movement. She waved to Ursula, bowing in thanks, before looking to Vivi as the girls ran in the same direction as Lynn.

Lynn came to a halt in front of the lake, and began barking. Vivi looked up ahead and saw the reason, Jacob was laying on the lake. Vivi took a step forwards before he shouted, "Wait! The ice is thin! Ignore me and get out of here! I'm too heavy, if I move the ice will break!"

Vivi looked at Jacob, he looked very pale...how long had he been out here? Vivi removed her pack and took a step onto the lake, it already beginning to crack. This was no good.

"Lumi, any ideas?"

Lumi caught up to Lynn, seeing Jacob out on the lake in front of them, Lumi gasped and reached forward as Vivi took a step towards the ice, grasping onto her arm instintively. "ah! wait!" Lumi bit her lip as she stepped past Vivi, placing a single foot on the ice, as it began to crack beneath her, she cast her ice spell, solidifying the ice beneath her in a circular crystallized pattern several feet around her, as she took another step towards Jacob, the ice crackling under her as she formed another piece to the bridge, she continued until she reached the collapsed man on the lake, thickening the ice under him so he would no longer be at risk of falling through. "A-are you okay? Can you move?" She asked anxiously, unsure if she would be able to move him off of the ice by herself.

Vivi watched in awe as Lumi walked across the ice. It was like something out of a fairy tale.

Jacob looked up at Lumi. Before slowly getting up, the ice audibly making cracking noises.

"Uh..I should probably mention most of my body is metal so, if the ice was a little thicker it'd probably he-"

He stopped talking, and moving, as the cracking sound grew more common.

"Oh boy..."

"EEP!" Lumi yelped in surprise as the ice began to crack under the weight of the metal man, she fell to her knees momentarily, placing her hands on the ground and creating a bowl shaped craft, large enough to hold Jacob and Lumi and support the weight of them as the ice bridge she had used to walk towards the trapped man cracked into pieces and separated. The two out of the lake left to float in their make-shift boat out on open water.
"A-are you okay?" Lumi shivered, her knees wet and bruised from falling on the icy lake.

Jacob smiled. "You're really resourceful aren't you? ....I'm glad we picked you as our guide."

He looked up at the sky and let out a soft sigh, and reached over the edge of their little boat and began to paddle towards where Vivi stood.

Vivi held Lynn close as she watched them make their way back. There was nothing she could have done...Lumi really was amazing...and she...

Vivi shook her head. She had to focus on the mission. Ursula was safe now, and Jacob was now too. As they reached shore, she smiled at Jacob.

"Any idea where your captain is?"

Jacob closed his eyes as he spoke, "Forget him and come to the town with me. There's no need to keep risking your lives..."

"I took this mission, and I'm going to finish it!"

Vivi glared at Jacob and began to look around. Jacob just sighed and spoke once more, "It should be appearing again soon... He'll likely be at the tower, but...please don't go, it'll only bring pain..."

Jacob gave Vivi one last look before beginning to walk back towards where the town should be. Vivi clenched her fists before putting on her pack. She then noticed it off in the distance, a tall tower reaching up to the heavens. That wasn't there before...was it?

"Lumi...you can go back if you want...but I need to see this through to the end..."
