Hello, [call]Sombre[/call], [call]Maerlande[/call], [call]Llamabeast[/call], and [call]Executor[/call],

I set the default theme for the test board to Ashyn, because I was using it when I formatted these posts...and it was less of a hassle to just change the default than to add color tags for all of this text. I am not specifically attached to any of these features (well, I lie - I am particularly fond of a couple of the ones I am certain you'll also like, ambivalent on most), and these can be implemented independently of one another. Some of these can be modified, while others, for the moment, cannot. I would like for you to consider these features as potential tools, which may or may not be useful to us. Play around with them, let me know what stands out to you, and why. There is no need to go over every last one - I only need your commentary for what you like/dislike most, and what uses you could see for these things.

Anyway, I think I have everything here. Let me know if you have any questions.

Shoutbox:

  • Changed name to "The Communion"
  • Reversed message direction
  • Increased Height
  • Increased Messages stored to 50
  • Allowed basic BBCode

Profile Comments
Users can make public comments on one another's profiles

Awards System

  • Allows Admins to create 'awards', and assign them to users
  • Awards display an icon under the user's Join Date next to posts, in their own box, and on User Profiles
  • Name of Award displayed on hover
  • Clicking the award leads to a webpage where all awards are displayed, organized by member, and reasons for their being given

imgBB Image Upload

  • Creates button under posting window, clicking opens a small pop-up of the imgBB.com website
  • Website allows quick upload of <16mb images, without needing to create an account
  • Once an image is uploaded, the script creates an image tag of the image, wrapped in a URL tag to the display page on imgBB
  • SOMETIMES seems to also create a hyperlink to imgBB website under (might have been a fluke, but if not it will occasionally be a annoyance)
  • In short, significantly decreases image upload time and pain-in-the-ass factor, even with the occasional hyperlink problem
  • Other codes utilizing other services I haven't heard of exist, but I haven't tried them yet. For now, just consider the concept.

Miscellaneous

  • Confirmation upon leaving a page where user has entered text data (navigating away from a post while writing it)
  • Changed name of Address Book to "Scroll of Nations" (best I could come up with at that moment)
  • Large images won't stretch the board (can be clicked to view full image)
  • Added feature to prune all of a user's posts from their profile (Admins only)
  • Made "Last Post By" a link to the latest comment
  • Allow users to set the color of all of their spoiler, quote, and code bars across all posts
  • Allow use of simple BBCode (Bold, italics, etc) in Topic Titles
  • Admins can create Automatic Acronyms and Abbreviations, which display whenever someone hovers over the word - lol

Justified Text

[justify=800] You are a God! You are master and ruler of a loyal nation. You have unimaginable powers at your disposal. You have claimed this world as yours. But there are others who stand in your way. You must defeat and destroy these pretenders. Only then can you ascend to godhood and become the new Pantokrator.

In Dominions you take control of a powerful being that rules a nation and aspires to godhood. The type of Pretender Gods can vary from magically powerful arch mages to huge titans or large monuments. The pretender gods have different strengths dependent on what kind of god you choose and what nation you play.

When you start the game you decide what kind of god you are and how your Dominion affects your lands and followers. It is an expression of your divine might and the faith of your followers. If your dominion dies, so do you. Your dominion also inspires your sacred warriors and gives them powers derived from your dominion.

In order to win and become the one true god you have to defeat your enemies one of three different ways: conquer their lands, extinguish their dominion or claim the Thrones of Ascension.

In Dominions 4 you can also play team games where one of the players take the role of supreme god, and the other members of the team are his servants and loyal subjects. The lesser gods rule their nations, but you all share the dominion of the supreme god.

Dominions is set in a fantasy world that draws inspiration from historical nations, cultures and myths. You will not encounter the elves of conventional fantasy in this game. Instead you might lead a nation of vanir from old norse myth. Aztecs, romans, israelites, greeks, shona and kievian rus are just a few of the inspirational sources of the game.

The first Dominions game was released in 2002 and was well received by strategy gamers. Since then Dominions has been much refined and Dominions series is still actively played making it one of the longest running 4x turn based strategy games.

Dominions 4 is also a highly moddable game. You can create your own monsters, spells and entire nations. Since Dominions 3 there has been a vivid modding community and Dominions 4 will enhance this capability even further.[/justify]

I'm assuming the shoutbox 50 messages is the upper limit? It'd be more useful if it stored something like a day at least to function more like a chatbox, though I understand it's not really meant to do that, nor would it be practical for those purposes.

Confirmation upon leaving a page is a major one I think, as is large images stretching the board on a board that doesn't scale well which means you might not *have* to use spoilers for every slightly larger image now.

Everything seems good to me except "Scroll of Nations", which I think might be a bit confusing. I can't come up with a better alternative, mind you. 'Pretender List'?

Could have sworn embedding was already a thing, or perhaps I just never used it.

I find tabs particularly interesting, especially being able to embed stuff in them. Could be really neat for a lot of stuff, like guides, or mods. How does the number of tabs scale with the page? Does it drop them horizontally if too many? If there a limit to the number of tabs?

"Private Message" in post is basically a ping then? Do we get email notifications for PMs still, or was that lost along topic subscription emails? Might be the poor man's alternative if new posters can ping you like that.

All seem to have a purpose, or at least a little niche, except potentially 'Your Name Here'.
Also, I'm not personally a fan of rainbow text due to how I've usually seen it used. Which is along the lines of [rainbow]FLASHY FLASHY SPAM SPAM!!![/rainbow]. But that's more of a personal note for me. Don't really oppose it.

What's with the rolls?

I don't know, we're going to find out.

What's with the rolls?
Shoutbox: I think there's a way to get it to record shouts, but not to extend it beyond the max of 50 in the box itself. It is possible to replace it with a proper chat room, but if we decide to get ad removal, it gets a little heavy on ad credits (Zetaboards allows you to basically buy ad-free pageviews, something like 5k per USD I think.

Confirmation and image scaling are musts I think. There might also be one that lets you preview an image associated with a post without clicking the link, but I am not sure.

Address Book: Eh, I just came up with a crap-name to prove the point that it could be changed if we wanted it to be.

Is embedding a thing? Maybe it already is. I definately don't care about embedding YT links though, for myself anyway. We could do it if it was wanted, though.

Tabs are God Tier. Sadly, the test I just did above doesn't let you nest them...for now. Might could be that we could fix that, and possibly also find a way to wrap them around after a certain point. There might be a limit to the number of tabs, but if there is, it's more than twenty.

Private Message is not a ping - that is Call, which gives a notification in the 'Mentions' thing at the top right. PM just makes it so people can only read the text if their name was mentioned in it. Maybe marginally useful? Maybe not.

No, I definitely don't want rainbow text. That would be Hell.

I just found the Roll script and thought it would be interesting to look at. I don't know that it is really useful to us at all, but it looked cool so I implemented it!
