Deep in the Joko Caverns, a man sat in silent meditation. His appearance was unlike that of the many statues that surrounded him, for he was not a hero of the Namekian species, he was a Saiyan. It would be difficult to guess that he was a member of the savage race of warmongers, partially due to his hair, a flowing curtain of white gold, and especially due to his demeanor. He sat with legs crossed, breathing in a slow, calm rhythm, both detached from and acutely aware of his surroundings.

Nearby, there was nothing. Small motes of life would flick across his consciousness before returning to mundane obscurity. Seeking further, the Saiyan could feel great forces colliding across the planet, his own people and their supporters, and the warriors of Namek, backed by their own allies. Focusing further on two individual sparks of life, he could sense his cousin preparing to met out his own brand of justice, and the eldest of the Namekians, their Elder Guru.

All the while, a soft hum emanates from the Saiyan, denoting the pulse of power just beneath the surface, perfectly contained. Oddly enough, the power acted as an invitation for the local wildlife, drawing them in and mesmerizing them. The Saiyan was perfectly in tune with the world he sat upon, and seemed almost a natural part of it were it not for the stark contrast of his crimson robes on the lapis vegetation. A detail that did not go unnoticed by two Namekian youths passing overhead. The duo quickly came to a landing and assumed a defensive stance, prepared to attack the outsider if necessary.

”You there!” Shouted the taller of the two with all the confidence youth grants. ”What business do you have in our people’s sacred canyon?” The Saiyan continued to meditate, easily finding the peace he sought.

When he made no move to respond, the two soldiers made their way towards him. ”You dare to igno-“ Began the shorter, only to halt his voice immediately upon seeing the tail wrapped around the waist of the stranger. ”A Saiyan!” With impressive speed the two rocketed backwards, littering the space the red robed Saiyan had occupied with dozens of small projectile blasts.

The two regained their stances and waited for the dust to settle. Their expectations, however modest or hopeful, proved inaccurate though. As the cloud vanished, there sat the Saiyan, unburned, and unmoved. ”Do not… do that” He spoke, the first time in months it felt like, but his words were undiminished for it. They rang in the pointed ears of the warriors like the chiming of funeral bells, and no less weighty.

Proud warriors, without proper knowledge, will gladly throw themselves into hopeless danger they would readily avoid should they know better. These youths did bear such a pride, and readied their palms for another salvo. The Saiyan had only enough time to scowl and say ”Do. Not.-“ before he was engulfed in another flurry of pink and orange ki. The assault was short lived.

The Saiyan emerged from the cloud of boiling energy at a brisk walk, grabbed the outstretched forearm of both Namekians, and wrenched them at such an impossible angle, whole seconds passed before the realization and pain set in. ”Do that.” He finished his statement from before, clearly disliking being interrupted. The Saiyan looked down his nose at the green skinned natives writhing before him, and then his eyes hardened. ”Kneel.”

The two were forced to their knees, looking almost as if they were swearing their loyalty to the beast before them. ”Submit, and live.” His words were those of mercy, but the deadly cold that had overtaken them spoke more truths than any word could.

It was the taller Namekian who lifted his head, seeing the glowing eyes and faint blue tint to his hair. No Intel on the Saiyans suggested they were capable of anything of this magnitude. It was absurd to even consider but the evidence was right before him. He grunted, and through gritted teeth said ”True warriors of Namek would NEVER submit to the li-“

”Then die with courage.” Interrupted the Saiyan before he let loose a singe wave of vermillion force, utterly erasing all evidence of their existence.

The canyon was once again silent, but the peace was broken, and the war would know far more bloodshed before it was allowed to end. If it was allowed to end.
