History The Starting Days Born Lato Zech the man who would eventually become known across the West Galaxy as Punchline was just an average, every day brutii man. He was born shortly following the War for Namek as it was called on his home world of Brutus. He grew up in a time period where King Vegeta was slain by his cousin and the Saiyan’s influence and power grew, the Earth diminished in strength and economic value following their in-fighting, and the Namekians submitted to Saiyan occupation following the loss of their leader. The Northern Galaxy’s most prominent powers were a mess. However, it paled in comparison to the chaos that awaited the West.
A strange planetoid appeared near Magumar and a vast blackhole accompanied it. From within came a tyrannical monster known as Garlic Jr. who once fought for Earth in ages passed. Now he set his sights on a new target: the entire West Galaxy.
With his immense power cultivated over hundreds of years and his seeming immortality he struck hard and fast conquering the planets in the West Galaxy one by one. Those who did not want to suffer at his hands quickly joined him and in no time at all Garlic Jr. had an army of minions of all races doing his bidding and continuing to spread his reach and influence.
Lato was too young to do anything when Garlic first appeared. However, he saw first hand how terrible the monster was and the death and destruction his actions lead to during the War for the West. Once he came of age Lato enlisted in the Ginyu Force, a peace keeping force that patrolled the West Galaxy and maintained order which was now conscripted in fighting against Garlic’s forces, in order to make a difference and save his home.
Fighting the Good Fight The War did not go well. By the time Lato was old enough to enlist the Ginyu Force was in a bad state. Garlic’s followers were everywhere and it was hard to know who to trust or where to turn for safety. Supplies were at an all time low and and morale was not much better. All the holo vids reported what everyone seemed to already know: the Ginyu Force was losing.
One person managed to keep Lato’s spirits up. He was one of the men who was stationed in the same unit as him and a fellow brutii. Gert. Gert was not your typical brutii. He was… well… scrawny to say the least. His size was often a point of ridicule for the man but Lato didn’t treat him any differently. The two became fast friends and as close as only those who live through conflict together could be. Lato was an inspiration for Gert. He was big, brawny, and larger than life. Gert was intelligent and thoughtful and always knew how to make the big guy laugh. The two made a fierce team.
As time went on their unit diminished. Some people left the service. Some died. Through it all, however, the duo remained and fought on. They moved from planet to planet, outpost to outpost, and often fought on the frontlines. Their trust in one another got them through several instances where one or both ought to have died.
Despite all their efforts, however, things had to come to an end. The news broke while Lato and Gert were both on assignment dealing with a petty conflict on one of the moons of Taifuu. Brutus had fallen. The entire planet was now under the control of Garlic Jr. The two brutii were heartbroken. Everything they had been fighting for was in vain.
Birth of a Hero Both Lato and Gert were disillusioned with the Ginyu Force. They were no longer the presence they once were in the West Galaxy. The duo agreed unanimously and left the Force.
They had little to go back to, however. They could not knowingly return to their home world as they were a known enemy of Garlic Jr’s minions. Few people in the region were unaware of the exploits of the ‘Brutii Brothers’ as they were called, the Ginyu Force’s up and coming heroes. Returning to Brutus would simply draw the attention of Garlic’s men and put their friends and family in danger.
What were they to do? Neither one of them wanted to stop fighting. Garlic was an outsider and a villain. Neither one would be content while the Makyan continued to wrest control of the galaxy. They needed a means to keep fighting, to show that evil would never win.
It was Gert who came up with the idea. He was a big fan of those sentai heroes in comic books as a kid and he had followed the exploits of people like the Great Saiyaman or the Supreme Savior from ages past. They acted outside of the law or of military bureaucracy and red tape that held something like the Ginyu Force back. It was Gert who pitched the idea to Lato to follow in their footsteps. Take up the mantle and become a symbol to aspire toward. Fight evil and villainy wherever it reared its ugly head. Stand for truth, justice, and freedom!
The two would become super heroes!
The Adventures of Punchline and Side-Kick!
 The two reinvented themselves. Lato and Gert were gone. In their place was the superhero duo known as Punchline and Side-Kick! They started off small building a reputation as they went and driving back villainy as best they could. Their time with the Force fighting in the war made the two quite strong in their own right and more than a match for the common thugs that prowled on the innocent.
To further their venture they started a simple organization that would accept donations from those who supported their efforts. In time you could even hire the two for assistance so long as the deed in question was of heroic value. With this in mind they made a solid living and were able to keep the pressure up against the Makyan forces.
The two would take any job no matter how big or how small. They stopped a drug smuggling and slave trading operation on Basbas; the traders were using sweat from exceptionally powerful psychic Bas-jin to create psychotropic effects and selling it to whoever wanted their unique high. They put an end to a villain by the name of Kuhn who tried to blow up planet Shikir. When the changeling fiend managed to escape he was once more thwarted when he tried to blow up Taifuu. There’s no telling what would have become of the galaxy if both planets were destroyed.
These exploits and more raised their status across the planets. In time Punchline and Side-Kick were famous heroes. There were action figures made of them. Their faces were plastered on posters and lunchboxes. People looked up to the duo as an inspiration. All the while they did their best to fight back Garlic’s forces and prevent his total control of the West Galaxy.
However, all the good deeds the two accomplished? They didn’t come without their drawbacks. Each time someone’s pockets got a little lighter because of the actions of Punchline and Side-Kick drew forth scorn. Soon enough the two could no longer be ignored. They were making some powerful enemies.
Punchline No More There came a fateful day when Punchline and Side-Kick were not working together. There was a disturbance surprisingly close to their base of operations and Side-Kick went first to find out what was wrong. The unthinkable happened, however. Without Punchline there to assist his partner Side-Kick was killed.
Punchline had no idea who was behind the incident and what little information he had from it was scarce. All he knew was that Side-Kick was intentionally lured into a trap to put him off guard and brutally murdered. The loss came as a huge blow to Punchline.
He threw himself into the case. He vowed he would stop at nothing to find out who was behind it. Was it someone in one of the many gangs they had put out of business? Perhaps it was someone linked to Garlic Jr. finally lashing out at them? Maybe someone from their days with the Ginyu Force? Punchline had no idea where to even begin looking.
But look he did. He spent months pouring over the scene and retracing steps. He was meticulous in his attempts to find out who was behind the attack. Every lead he chased started to come up dead. He knocked down doors, called in every ally the two had made in their short heroic career, did anything he could think of to find Side-Kick’s killer.
Time passed. People mourned. Side-Kick’s killer was never found and no one knew who was behind the incident.
A distraught Punchline had given up hope of avenging his friend. If he could not do something as simple as that what gave him the right to call himself a hero? With the weight of everything coming down on those broad shoulders, Punchline succumbed. He hung up his cape.
A Surprise Partnership Emerges! As time past things in the West Galaxy grew grim without the superhero duo to curb the chaos. In their absence the Ginyu Force fell under the might of Garlic’s growing forces so that it was barely a shell of its former self. In time Garlic’s influence spread to all planets in the West Galaxy and without Punchline or someone similar to oppose them he soon gained total control.
Punchline was nowhere to be seen. He had retreated from the limelight. Yet there was still people in need. Now more than ever the West Galaxy had fallen into disarray. People struggled under poverty and were put to death for the slightest infractions under Garlic Jr’s rule. The populace needed their hero back!
It was with some surprise, then, that Lato would meet someone who might just instill that sense of hope and purpose he had lost. An android, of all things, sought him out personally and even managed to track him down living on one of the moons of Shikir passing by as a nobody. The android told Lato something surprising. He knew the organization who was responsible for the death of Side-Kick!
The two made an agreement. Lato would help the android in question keep this organization - of which he was currently on the run from - at bay. In exchange he would feed him information about their movements and operations as best as he could so that Lato could put an end to them once and for all and finally avenge his fallen friend. All the while the brutii saw potential in this new ally and would do his best to steer him down the right path.
With this new alliance made Punchline was back! News spread quickly about a large man in a bright, heroic costume striking back at the foes that dared cause others harm. While he was out of practice it would not be long before Punchline and his new sidekick partner Radical would be making waves across the galaxies! The first time you BREAK an opponent you may BREAKx2 instead. Once per combat you may STOP an UNRESTRICTED Advanced Attack.
Monster Blood [ EQUIPPED ] Inventory Slots: 1 Description: Rolling green blood which appears to multiply and come alive at will was discovered at the sight of the battle between you and Anise. [ACCESSORY, LEGENDARY ] Effect: +5% of a stat of your choice (Power). Choose a racial trait of a race other than your own that you do not already have. You gain that racial trait. This may not choose racial traits with the same effect as one you have. (Saiyan Might)
Sword Shard [000z] Inventory Slots: 0 Description: A shard of a sword said to have been owned by a legendary war hero named Shindo. No one really knows how the blade was shattered but somehow you have come across one of the pieces. The shard still resonates with some of the power of it's previous owner and it can be harnessed. Effect: Use X1. Use at the start of combat. Once during that match, you may SEVER when you are SUCCESSFUL on a CRITICAL. If used against Alister Brand, it will work on a natural result one lower than a CRITICAL as well. This cannot be used against Saga bosses. Notes: Untradeable
Magic Crystal Ball [800z] Inventory Slots: 1 Description: A crystal orb imbued with mystical properties aiding in its user's clairvoyance. Crystal Balls are great assets in locating people and places, or to gain foresight into the near -- and sometimes -- distant future. Effect: While in your Inventory, your Quests take -200 wpd to a minimum of 100 wpd.
FlightStick [800z] Inventory Slots: 1 Description: A popular toy on Earth for a short year until it was banned due to a lot of mischief, injuries, and near deaths from falling off. The device looks like a skate board, or rather the much safer and still perfectly legal hover board. The big difference is the engine on the back. This one has been rigged to go a little faster than your average old FlightStick. Actually a lot faster since it relies on your own ki to keep it going. The light trail it leaves does match your aura color though. Effect: You're bukujutsu is considered one level higher for all purposes. Specializations - Strength Level 3 - Your physical attacks deal +(10% Power) damage. Your physical attacks cost +1 Ki Point to block.

Adrenaline Rush Mastery [ AKAIKARU, MASTERY ] Description: The rush of battle can be overwhelming. The power ones feels when landing blow after blow is exhilarating and a special high for an Akaikaru master. There is no shame in restricting yourself as your opponent’s will inevitably do. They will hesitate, they will try to draw the battle on longer, but you will and must make them pay for those mistakes dearly. Effect: Your Akaikaru base cost 1 or less attacks do +(10% Power) Damage and gain +2 to the results. After turn 10, your Akaikaru base cost 1 or less attacks do +(15% Power) Damage and gain +3 to the results instead.
