Hello! Welcome to Broken Futures!

Although we are a based on Dragon Ball keep in mind that we use it for the elements the show brought to us. We are not using ANY canon characters, only the world in which the show was built on. We are mostly a free form RPG with some stats to help track character growth. However, for the most part, your stats only matter in important fights or large events ran by a GM/DM.

We don't have any specific guidelines on what can or cannot be written about. So long as the Zetaboards ToS isn't violated. If a topic gets mature, keep it reasonable and do your best not to violate the host ToS. We don't like to limit you to what you want to write about and will trust your judgement not to make any posts in the extreme.

We are set in Future Trunks' timeline so the world is in ruin. Which would classify it as post-apoc. It's always been the best-styled setting to build a new world on top of. We have built this site to be based around the actions of the players. You will help build the world you're playing in. Every action within major events will influence how the world structures itself.

We have no word count, no canon face claims, no post formatting and no drama. We want you to come here and have fun. Equal Footing [1:5] Ability
There are those who place too many proverbial eggs in one basket to overwhelm their enemies with a singular force. And then there are those who demonstrate a certain sense of balance to counter such acts of aggression.

[5:5] Whenever someone uses an effect against the user that checks their highest stat against the user’s highest stat, a second check must be performed between their second highest stat and the user’s second highest stat. If the user passes either check, they may ignore the effect.

This Ability does not affect damage.
This Ability does not apply to the user’s other ATBS or item effects.

{At least 30 in 1 stat and 30 in another stat} -5% PL per use

Nerfing Demonic Wrath

Demonic Wrath [1:5] Item-Curse
Accepting half of Astraea’s wrath has already proven detrimental to Jack’s sanity and health. This curse forces Jack to sense Astraea’s physical and emotional anguish (no matter how small or great) and alerts him to her location even if he cannot reach her. It has also implanted a dependency within Jack to keep the sword with him at all times in case he might need it to locate and rescue Astraea.

Jack gains the following effects whenever he wields his sword.

+5% Max PL per level when calculating Jack's Strength Damage from any source.
Reduces Spirit by 10

{Astraea's Approval, Jack’s sword [10:10], Rename the item type of Jack's sword to "cursed weapon"} -None-

Max PL now applies only to Strength.

Here's Cloud's suggested Edit for Equal Footing.

Equal Footing [1:5] Ability

Optional: Whenever an opponent's ATBS or Item compares their highest stat to the user's highest stat, it checks each user's second highest stat instead (if either user's highest stat is tied with their second highest then it will default to their highest stat).
This only affects Stat Checks and does not modify Damage.
{30 in at least two stats. Only functions at [5:5]} -None-

I'll move it into Approved unless additional disputes arise.

Humans are constantly pushing the boundaries of what is and is not considered possible, redefining the definition of impossible until the day comes in which “impossible” is defined as a lie. One human has done just that with their mastery of flight and has broken the sound barrier with it. Extensive use of the power places a dangerous amount of strain on the body, however.
Allows the user to fly at X times the speed of sound in which X is double the level of this technique.
Once per level per thread, the user may modify a Strength-based attack to make it almost impossible to dodge or block without the use of ATBS.
Attacks modified by this Technique cannot have their damage reduced below the user's Spirit*X in which X equals Level*0.4.
{Immense Physical Prowess [5:5], Power of Flight [4:4], Aerobatics [3:3], Fast as Lightning [2:2], 100 Spirit, 100 Strength} -5% PL to modify 1 attack. -10% PL to modify a 2nd attack, -15% PL to modify a 3rd attack, -20% PL to modify a 4th attack, and -25% PL to modify a 5th attack.

A seemingly ordinary hand-crafted and stringed guitar into which its player may channel their energy to amplify the clarity and volume of the instrument’s musical notes.
This item has no significant effects of its own, but may receive Admin-Approved modifications and enchantments that grant it effects. This item has no level and, as such, no Exp cost. This item may be destroyed in combat and by effects that specifically target items, but the user may recreate it in the event of its destruction.

Whenever Jack’s sword breaks or whenever he chooses to do so, he may cause what’s left of his sword to transform into a spiritual fire that’s kept burning by the demonic presence he normally keeps contained within the sword. That presence has been nurtured into a matured entity both a part of and apart from Jack’s spirit and it has named itself, Juracán. In its released state, Juracán surrounds and empowers Jack.
This Technique requires one post to activate and renders Jack’s sword useless for the remainder of the thread.
The effects of “Demonic Wrath” are negated.
The following effects last 1 post per level per thread.
+6 Spirit per level
+3% Max PL per level when using attacks that determine Spirit as damage.
Jack may not use attacks other than basic attacks and attacks with “Juracán” in their name.

I've come to the conclusion that this is actually okay, as you limit yourself likely to these Jamaican moves that utilize spirit and only spirit. Even moreso, I have a bit of control on what moves come out because of this restriction.

[3:5] Grants +3 Spirit per level. Attacks that determine Spirit as damage cost an additional 1% PL including attacks that have no cost.
[4:5] Restores an additional 15% PL.
[5:5] Grants an additional +10 Strength and +10 Spirit and increases the costs of attacks that determine Strength or Spirit by an additional 1% PL including attacks that have no cost.
{60 Spirit, 60 Strength, Be Jack Trader} This technique may only be activated once per thread and only at 60% remaining PL or less. The Spirit, Strength, and attack cost increases provided by this technique last for 1 post per level, not counting its Activation post.

What changed:
The amount of PL restored caps at 60% instead of 40%, but it is restored over time rather than all at once.
Spirit and Strength boosts cap at 30 each rather than 25.
Removed PL costs.
Duration increased to 6 posts from 5.
Requirements increased from 60 to 90.
Max level increased from 5 to 10.

With his strength having reached insane levels, Jack tries his best not to hit things with his normal strength. This is not so much a quote, signature attack, unquote as it is just him fighting at his default strength.
"Normal Kicks and Punches" deals Strength*0.75 at [1:3], Strength*0.95 at [2:3], and Strength*1.15 at [3:3] in Physical Damage.

Jack's having the Wrath and such removed from the sword, but, given all that I invested in it, I can't just have it all completely wiped. So, when it comes time to do the thing, I am having the sword upgraded/replaced. Here is my request.

Jack‘s sword [11:15] Weapon

A hand-and-a-half sword completely ordinary in appearance and without decoration. Its edge is blunt to prevent it from cutting, but remains capable of significant destruction. Since its creation, this weapon has been and always will be a fragment of its creator’s soul. A refinement process that was supposed to destroy it merely purged from it the evil that afflicted its creator.

This item replaces Jack’s sword [10:10] with Jack’s sword [11:15] upon creation for -7 Exp (Standard Item Creation Cost).
The creation of this item requires the destruction and removal of Demonic Wrath [5:5]

Attacks with this weapon deal Strength*0.06 per level in Physical Damage.
This weapon grants +3 Strength per level and +1% Max PL per level, but only when attacking with it.
This weapon may NEVER receive Enchantments or Curses.

Whenever taken, lost, or broken Jack may deconstruct this weapon and reconstruct it within his possession for -5% PL.

Increasing my defenses with these two.

Regular Blocking [1:4] Technique
Jack uses his strength and martial mastery to block attacks. That's why it's called 'Blocking'.
Each use changes Strength and Dexterity Damage dealt to Jack to 1 if X% of his Strength exceeds an attacker's attacking stat. X = 25 per level.
{Immense Physical Prowess [5:5], 100 Strength, and Exclusive to Jack Trader} None

You'll Only Hurt Yourself [1:1] Ability
Directly attacking Jack with your fists is not advisable.
Whenever Jack receives Strength Damage from an attack, the attacker loses 10 Strength until the end of their next post.
