Hello! Welcome to Broken Futures!

Although we are a based on Dragon Ball keep in mind that we use it for the elements the show brought to us. We are not using ANY canon characters, only the world in which the show was built on. We are mostly a free form RPG with some stats to help track character growth. However, for the most part, your stats only matter in important fights or large events ran by a GM/DM.

We don't have any specific guidelines on what can or cannot be written about. So long as the Zetaboards ToS isn't violated. If a topic gets mature, keep it reasonable and do your best not to violate the host ToS. We don't like to limit you to what you want to write about and will trust your judgement not to make any posts in the extreme.

We are set in Future Trunks' timeline so the world is in ruin. Which would classify it as post-apoc. It's always been the best-styled setting to build a new world on top of. We have built this site to be based around the actions of the players. You will help build the world you're playing in. Every action within major events will influence how the world structures itself.

We have no word count, no canon face claims, no post formatting and no drama. We want you to come here and have fun. Got another one for review just because I hate mind reading/control, especially when my character relies on brainpower.

Slipper Mind has a few things that should be changed.

First it's more of an Ability than a Technique since it's so passive.

It should be a "Mental Barrier" styled thing. When a Mental Stat check happens it boosts your relevant stat for said Check by X where X is Y per level.

Simple, effective and does a lot more. The details of Y and how many levels I'll leave to you.

Slippery Mind [1:4] Ability
You’ve learned to guard your mind against invasion and negative influence, but, usually, at a drain to your energy.
When an incoming ATBS checks the user's mental stats (Aptitude/Will Power/Wisdom) without their consent, this ability increases the checked stats by 50% per level for the check only.
{20 Aptitude, 20 Will Power, or 20 Wisdom} None if the incoming ATBS has no cost; otherwise, -X% PL where X equals the level of the incoming ATBS.

I would like to have a wisdom req on this of at least twenty, since this shuts down -all- sensing and tracking atbs.

I'm still not particularly in love with the move, instead of a straight "cant't be found" I'd prefer "the requirements to sense/track the glamour'd player is doubled", something similar to that. Maybe just smack a higher cost on it and say it's only usable in combat, too.

The main point of it is to prevent the user from being tracked and the added stipulations make it so that it cannot be abused during combat. There are so many ATBS that allow for players to detect, sense, and track others from across the planet without having to spend anything. I am not really sure how you'd even apply a stat check to some of the tracking ATBS we have here, especially some of the customs I've seen like Saiyan Scent.

Or Daze can just mark you and you're found forever.

If you're looking for a number, Roots had to spend 16 xp for Saiyan Scent. My problem with this move is that with 10 xp you beat every single form of tracking. If this was extended to 5:5 and had a good requirement (30 wisdom?) I would be more okay with it, but still uneasy.

How about this?

Glamour [1:4] Skill
Sorcerers often find need to hide themselves from detection and discovery.
The user cannot be detected, tracked, sensed, or located by ATBS or items.
Anyone in the same thread as the user may ignore Glamour's effects if their Aptitude, Willpower, or Wisdom exceeds the user's Wisdom*0.25 per level.
During combat, the user may not use any other ATBS during a post Glamour is used.
At level 4, the user may cast Glamour on willing and/or unconscious targets to grant them the same effect and benefits, but a target will lose the benefit as soon as they use any ATBS.
Damage dealt to the user will end Glamour and prevent its use for the user’s next post.
{30 Wisdom, Illusion Magic} -1% PL per post during combat per target.

Got another one and it fits Spark's character perfectly.

Technomancer has been modified now that I better understand the item system.

Subject Matter Analysis [1:1] Skill
A seemingly rudimentary spell the uses casts to identify the components and materials of an inorganic object.
Allows the user to identify the components and material of an item (Weapon, Armor, Accessory, Upgrade, and/or Technology) and understand how it functions.
As long as the user meets the stat requirements for an item, they may recreate it for themselves.
The user must make physical contact with an item to apply the effects of this skill.
This skill, by itself, does not allow for the tampering of items and their effects.
{Technomancer} None

Technomancer [1:1] Skill
Someone who has studied and practiced both sorcery and modern engineering extensively enough that they may create inventions that utilize science, magic, or both.
Allows for the creation, enchanting, modifying, and upgrading of a Robot as well as any type of item (Weapon, Armor, Accessory, Upgrade, and Technology).
{Alchemy, Technolord, Robotics, AI Enhancement, 40 Aptitude, 40 Wisdom} None

Good.

New Pending Technique

Counteroffensive: Deconstruction [1:5] Technique
A spell cast by a technomancer to deconstruct an item into basic matter, effectively destroying it.
Add the user’s Wisdom and Aptitude stats and divide the result by 50, 40, 30, 20, 10 at levels 1, 2, 3, 4, 5. If the result equals or exceeds the current level of an item, the user may deconstruct it beyond use or repair for the duration of a thread.
(Example: The user has 40 Aptitude and 40 Wisdom. 40+40=80. At level 5, divide 80 by 10 and the user may deconstruct an item with a current level of 8 or less.)
{Subject Matter Analysis} -X% PL where X equals the current level of an item deconstructed.

This reminds me of the boardwide item breaking ATBS, so I'm okay with this.

Repair Shop [1:2] Item
A capsule containing a workshop specifically for repairing and rebuilding damaged androids, cyborg parts, and robots.
[2:2] Players may have their androids, cyborgs, and items that require android repairs repaired by Spark by transferring 1 Exp to him instead of spending Exp on the shop.
[2:2] Spark’s items that require android repairs are automatically repaired in between threads without the use of the shop.
{Subject Matter Analysis} None

This isn't broken, and IIRC nobody has even used android repair yet...

But still, no. I just don't like ATBS/Items that mess with EXP. Call me paranoid. Do it, but I just don't like this.

Plasma Production [1:1] Skill
This spell subjects atoms within available matter to the ionization process in which electrons are separated from their atoms, leaving behind positively charged nuclei surrounded by free-flowing electrons, creating plasma. The user may then utilize the plasma for various purposes as long as they are capable of maintaining its state.
Allows the user to learn ATBS and create items and robots that require Plasma Production.
{Subject Matter Analysis} None

Creation ATBS. Okay.

Miniaturization an Expansion [1:1] Skill
A scientific application of magic that allows the user to manipulate the size of matter on a subatomic level, miniaturizing or restoring it.
Allows the user to learn ATBS and create items and robots that require Miniaturization and Expansion.
{Subject Matter Analysis} None

Same story. Okay.

Plasma Bolt [1:3]
An offensive application of Plasma Production in which the user launches super-heated matter at a target to inflict severe, sometimes lethal, burns.
Deals 30% of the user’s Aptitude and 30% of their Wisdom in damage.
At level 3, a target damaged by this attack may not attack during their next post.
{Plasma Production} -2% PL. Once per post. Once per level per thread

The effect is good. I just don't wanna see people getting locked down. That's not fun.

Plasma Rod [1:10] Accessory
Having successfully reproduced perpetual energy, Spark has taken it a step further and applied its process toward his life and ongoing work. He created a techno-magical device the shape of a small cylinder comprised of intricate components that passively creates plasma from surrounding matter. To maintain the plasma, the device maintains an internal magnetic field within a vacuum compartment in which the plasma’s stored. The magnetic field is sustainable by the rod’s circular shape and rotating components. The limited size of the device necessitates the miniaturization of stored matter until its use so that the rod's magnetic field affects it at all. Spark may utilize the natural energy stored inside the Rod for various purposes included, but not limited to, spell casting.

Reduces all PL costs by Aptitude*0.02 per level and Wisdom*0.02 per level to a minimum of 0 PL.
{Plasma Production, Miniaturization and Expansion} None

Is this the raw aptitude stat or the ATBS value?

Either way, I don't particularly like it. I don't like ATBS cost reduction at all (damn OP 1 type 1's)

Attacks can be dodged and even blocked. That's why I avoid attaching limited uses to attacks. Would this be more reasonable for Plasma Bolt?

Plasma Bolt [1:3] Attack
An offensive application of Plasma Production in which the user launches super-heated matter at a target to inflict severe, sometimes lethal, burns.
Deals 30% of the user’s Aptitude and 30% of their Wisdom in damage.
At level 3, a target damaged by this attack may not attack during their next post.
{Plasma Production} -2% PL. Once every other post.

Would this change to Plasma Rod be more agreeable to you?

Plasma Rod [1:7] Accessory
Having successfully reproduced perpetual energy, Spark has taken it a step further and applied its process toward his life and ongoing work. He created a techno-magical device the shape of a small cylinder comprised of intricate components that passively creates plasma from surrounding matter. Activated, temporarily increases the user's Current PL by 5% of their Max PL per level for the use of one ATBS or item.
{Plasma Production, Miniaturization and Expansion} No Cost. Once every other post. Once every other level per thread.

So at level 7, you get an extra 35% four times a thread, which means 140% extra current power level for usage of ATBS. This is best case scenario, though, and it means you have to spend 35% every time you use it.

I think this is alright. It's an interesting way for cost reduction that I think won't be overpowered.

I need some stuff updated, please.

I would like to start with Technomancer.

Technomancer [1:1] Skill
Someone who has studied and practiced both sorcery and modern engineering extensively enough that they may create inventions that utilize science, magic, or both.
Allows for the creation, use, and transfer of Robots or Constructs as well as most any type of item (Weapon, Armor, Accessory, Upgrade, Technology, or Enchantment). Does not allow for the creation or use of Curses, however.
{Exclusive to Fairies, Alchemy, Animate Construction, Technolord, Robotics, AI Enhancement, 50 Aptitude, 50 Wisdom} None

Updated it to match the new item system. Increased stat Requirements to 50 in each, added Animate Construct and Exclusive to Fairies as well.
