Hello! Welcome to Broken Futures!

Although we are a based on Dragon Ball keep in mind that we use it for the elements the show brought to us. We are not using ANY canon characters, only the world in which the show was built on. We are mostly a free form RPG with some stats to help track character growth. However, for the most part, your stats only matter in important fights or large events ran by a GM/DM.

We don't have any specific guidelines on what can or cannot be written about. So long as the Zetaboards ToS isn't violated. If a topic gets mature, keep it reasonable and do your best not to violate the host ToS. We don't like to limit you to what you want to write about and will trust your judgement not to make any posts in the extreme.

We are set in Future Trunks' timeline so the world is in ruin. Which would classify it as post-apoc. It's always been the best-styled setting to build a new world on top of. We have built this site to be based around the actions of the players. You will help build the world you're playing in. Every action within major events will influence how the world structures itself.

Even if You Forget; Daze

Kamrun
It had taken a while, a long while, of continuously bugging Bruce, teasingly and persistently, until the older man finally gave in, and let her help with some chores. She insisted it wasn't repayment for all the times he didn't let her pay for drinks or food or the occasional room when she needed it, but it really was. Everyone in this village pulled their weight one way or another, the least she could do was clean some dishes and sweep he floors.

She had, of course, come to visit Daze, but Bruce said he hadn't seen him in at least a couple days. It seemed Kamrun had some tough luck trying to catch Daze while he was home, but she figured he was off living one of his six reasons somewhere and would be back eventually. This time she was planning on staying a while, at least until he was back, which would mean she would need a room, and food, and drink.

Hence why she was cleaning the dishes.

Her chores were accompanied by singing, turned out a few songs she had learned from her father, Bruce also knew, she could tell because he would smile nostalgically, sometimes hum along or sing under his breath.

The sun had set a bit ago, long enough ago that only the horizon was still a light shade of grey, and the warm glow of electric lights lit the empty bar.

Kamrun was just finishing the dishes, her jacket tied around her waist and her arms wet nearly to the straps of her tanktop, and she was drying them and passing them to Bruce who put them away, and she kept track of what went where so that next time she could do that part herself too.

That was when they heard something outside, and Kamrun's light-green wings fluttered as she looked at the door curiously. Could it be Daze? She didn't think he'd be the one to walk up to a door, she was expecting him to fade in to his room and probably pass out, and then she'd find him the next morning. But someone was definitely walking up to the door.

"I'll go see," she said with a smile, drying off her arms and jogging to the door.

"Hey!" Bruce called after her, frustrated with her recklessness, just running up to see who would be outside after hours, often angry drunks demanding more booze after last call would throw empty bottles at the door. She would fair far less better than his door.

Still she happily opened the door, yellow light pouring out onto the dirt road, and peered outside, grinning when she saw familiar white hair.

"Daze!" she cried happily and ran out, the door swinging shut behind her, and though the electric lights still colored squares of ground on the road, the world was plunged in a light silver of the sliver crescent moon.

She didn't have far to jog, before slowly coming to a stop, still some feet from the figure she had seen approaching. Her jovial smiled slowly faded, and her brow bent as he eyes stared at the man in the darkness, and her voice questioned out, worried, "Daze?"

The man in front of her, unique dark skin, familiar golden eyes, and unmistakable white hair, did not seem like Daze at all.

Something was very wrong.

Kamrun
Kamrun tried not to move much, only enough to ease the pain of certain limbs trying to go numb, otherwise she stayed awake, though the position and the hour drew on her energy. She passed the time humming lullabies to Daze, who was the quietest he had ever been in sleep, and she worried for him. She was in the third round of a lullaby her mother used to sing when she heard the knock and her name.

"Come in Bruce," she said, just loud enough for him to hear, "he's sleeping."

She lifted her head from the pillow to look as the man entered, then shifted and looked at Daze.

"He... didn't say much," she said, to the man who was no doubt worried about his boy, and Kamrun laid back down, slowly, "so far, the only thing I can guess is he did something, and it happened in Terminus, I think he may have lost someone... or a lot of people."

Kamrun bit her lip and her brow bent in worry again, "I remember looking like that when I lost everyone...."

Kamrun shifted her head to look at Bruce, "sorry I didn't come down sooner. He asked to not be alone, I promised I would stay...."

Daze
"Yeah. I think I got that by the way he looks," Bruce stated after entering the room. "I think something happened to Machi," Bruce admitted. "The two are normally inseparable. Well, outside of when Daze goes running off without any warning," Bruce shook his head.

"Machi, in a weird kind of way... is Daze's daughter. From what I've gathered, he made her from magic. He never told me how or why. He also recently lost a friend, Miss Astraea. I think, if what I think happened, happened, then losing Machi after losing one of his friends... may have been too much for him," Bruce sighed.

"As for Terminus... I have heard things already. Shipment came in from there, said a meteor shower tore the place apart. Nothing I'd worry about hurting Daze or Machi... but the rumors about it are, odd," Bruce added.

Kamrun shifted again to look at Bruce as he mentioned what possibly could have happened, and she looked at Daze again, "I met Machi a few days ago, she didn't seem happy to talk about Daze. She told me how Daze had made her to protect him, and that... well," Kamrun thinned her lips, "I suppose, the best way to put it is they had a falling out. Goemon took care of her, they were in Terminus when I left."

Kamrun sighed, "I wonder if the meteor shower hurt them? I don't think so though," Kamrun looked at Daze, "do you think... Daze caused the shower, because they got hurt by something else?"

Kamrun wished suddenly that Goemon had made good on the thought to give the woman a way to communicate with her and she could find out what had happened.

Her eyes moved around the young man's face and she sighed, "Bruce...," she began quietly, but her lip in hesitation, then sighed softly, "I know it's probably a lot to ask... supplies being what they are, resources scarce and all but... would it be alright, if I stayed here until he... until he gets better?"

She turned her head again, "I can help out around the bar, or even work for you to make up for it, just until he's healed... please?"

Daze
"A falling out? That's strange... Sounds a bit more complicated than that," Bruce nodded, stroking his chin. "All this magic voodoo stuff is above my head. It's hard for me to imagine Daze being able to create Machi or a meteor shower despite all I've seen him do..." Bruce sighed in a frustrated tone.

"Miss Kamrun, you stay here as long as you like. If it makes Daze happy, you can consider our home your home," Bruce said with a smile. "You somehow keep a curved arrow flying straight. Not sure how you do it," Bruce said while looking at Daze with a smile that quickly faded when he noticed how sad he looked in his sleep.

"Just hopefully our stray arrow finds it's target...." Bruce kept on. "You need anything to eat, drink? I can cook something while you wait for him to wake up," Bruce offered.

Kamrun
Kamrun nodded to it being more complicated than that, but didn't want to have to explain the strange relationship that Machi had implied she had with Daze until she herself understood it better, but asking Daze about it would have to wait. She was glad that Bruce allowed her to stay, though he seemed to imply it would be charge free, and he should have known by now, she wouldn't let him let her get away with that.

But he wanted her around to help Daze too, and she was going to try her damnedest to make him happy again.

"I hope so too," she whispered, looking at where his hand touched hers, resisting the urge to hold it, least she hurt him and wake him up.

She smiled and looked up at Bruce, "I have water," she said softly and glanced at the glass, "I'm good for tonight, I think I'll sleep here. It's late, you should think about going to sleep too. In the morning when he wakes up, I'll help you make breakfast," she grinned warmly, "thank you Bruce."

Daze
"Alright, rest easy Miss Kamrun. Take care of our big oaf," Bruce smiled, holding back a chuckle before leaving the room and closing the door behind him.

Daze was sound asleep. He was dreaming. His eyes were twitching and his face had a scorn look upon it. Like he was seeing something he wasn't happy about. Or doing something he wasn't happy about. The strange thing, was even in his sleep the white silky material coated his body. Which was insulating him rather well and keeping him rather warm.

Kamrun smiled and shifted so that her head nuzzled into the pillow a bit, "goodnight Bruce," she sighed. When the door closed she lifted her eyes to look at Daze again, his expression had changed slightly and her small smile faded.

She lifted a hand towards his head and hesitated again. Could she touch his hair? Was it just skin contact that hurt? Hair didn't have feeling, so she was sure it was okay.

Biting her lip, she gently rested her hand on his head and stroked his hair comfortingly. She smiled softly again, worry still in her eyes and she whispered, "it's okay Daze, I'm here."

She took her hand back after a short while, then rested again into the bed. Her eyes flickered along his face, so unsure of what had happened, and worried on how it might change Daze, what it had done to him. But she was resolved to help him through it, no matter who he became in the end, he was still Daze.

And as she lost her fight against sleep, she resolved to be there for him every morning, until he didn't need her anymore.

Daze
Morning came quickly, light peered in through the one-way mirror-like window. It was a very bright and clear day. Dry. So much so that Daze was stirred awake from the change in weather. Slowly he opened his eyes, only to see Kamrun's face no more than a foot from his own. Her presence brought a smile to his face, one that quickly faded once he felt how sore the muscles in his face were.

"....." Silently, Daze peered around the room, sitting up from the comfortable bed, still wrapped in his magic. He made his way to the window, standing there, just staring out. Seeing what the world has become.

It felt so alien now. So wrong. But had had to accept this as the reality of the world.

"I need to change..." he mumbled to himself, looking down at his arms, peering at the orbs that were flaring up due to his temporary increased focus. "I need to find a way to lift this curse...." he said softly, careful not to wake Kamrun up. His mind was clear, but it was fading. The haze was growing as his emotional strength returned.

Kamrun made a soft noise when Daze left the bed, it sounded like a question almost, save there was no words put to it. Her sleep had been dreamless, and she hasn't moved at all from the position she had fallen asleep in, right at the edge of the bed. After a few moments more, she stirred, eyes reluctantly opening, and seeing an empty bed before her.

"Daze?" She asked, sitting up suddenly, which caused her to tumble off the side of the bed and to the floor. The small amount of pain was easily ignored, as she moved the hair out of her face and found Daze standing by the window.

Smiling a bit in relief, she stood, stretching slightly with her arms and her wings, before they folded back down, and she rubbed her hand through her hair, and then lightly stepped up to the white-haired man.

"Hey Daze," she said gently, quietly add if someone in the room was still sleeping, stopping a couple feet away from him, "how are you feeling?" He looked better, not happy, but not in pain anymore, "you hungry?"

Daze
"Hey..." Daze managed past a dry mouth and a bit of morning breath. "I've been better..." he admitted, feeling down still but well enough to at least communicate.

A lot had happened in the past twenty-four hours. The stages of grief were obvious. His rejection of the information Roots gave him, calling it a bad joke. His anger at the situation taken out on the planet. His bargaining, offering up his power to reverse it by digging for some answer and ultimately destroying a moon on a random planet. The state of depression, being abandoned in the desert and wandering alone... and now acceptance.

He's finally come to terms with the reality of the situation. It all happened so fast, but his magic can only restrain itself for so long while he deals with the emotional trauma.

"I'm not, no. But... I should eat," he said as though it were hard to speak. "Thank you... for last night," Daze said, turning to Kamrun with an obviously forced smile.

Kamrun smiled apologetically, knowing that he wasn't okay and hearing him admit it was a bit different, and she lightly tapped a fist against her thigh. He was silent for a bit mulling something over in his head and Kamrun shifted to try to meet his gaze. He then agreed that he should eat, even if he's not hungry, and tried to smile, and her brow bent in worry, but she smiled as well.

"You're welcome Daze," she said, "I wouldn't leave you. Let's go get something to eat."

She moved her hand from her side to reach for Daze's hand, not even really thinking about it until her fingertips touched the silky material, and she snatched her hand back, "s-sorry, I forgot," she said, moving a hand to flick the hair tie on her wrist, the sting fading quickly.

She bit her lip, then looked at Daze apologetically, smiling again, almost playfully, still whispering, "if Bruce is still asleep, I get to make you breakfast," she grinned, "like when we went to-- when we went travelling."

She caught herself from mentioning Terminus again, she didn't want to see him cry.

"Let's get downstairs and see," she turned and beckoned with her hand, making sure to take soft steps in case Bruce was still asleep, and she opened the door and led the way out.

Daze
Daze's forced smile faded when he saw her pop herself with the hair tie. He winced away from the sight, knowing full well what she was doing. It was because of him. He was becoming a burden on her. He hated that. He didn't want that. He had to resolve whatever it was that was bugging him so he wouldn't hold Kamrun back.

"Okay... let's go see if Bruce is awake," Daze agreed, nodding after looking up at Kamrun.

Daze followed her down the stairs. Bruce's room was on the ground floor. It was more of a closet really. He had a tiny room near the kitchen that was large enough for his tiny bed, and a sink with a mirror. He never wanted much of a living space so that he could make sure everyone else was accommodated.

There was, however, no sign of Bruce awake. He must be asleep.

"I don't think... he's awake..." Daze said tonelessly. As if he were a cinderblock.

Once down the stairs, Kamrun leaned over and looked at the door where Bruce's room was, the place was quiet, still too early for patrons to arrive it seemed, as well as Bruce to be awake. This Daze confirmed and Kamrun grinned looking at Daze, "I'll make breakfast then, it would be nice for him to wake up to a breakfast," she smiled gently at Daze, then patted the bar stools as she passed them to indicate him to take a seat. She swung around the bar to the kitchen, hoping that Bruce wouldn't mind if she used his things and his food.

She's replace he food next time she went shopping.

She washed her hands before doing anything else, drying them off and trying her hair back as she glanced at Daze and smiled, "I know you're not hungry," she said, "but what sounds good to you right now?"

She smiled warmly, walking to the bar, leaning forward and resting her arms on it, looking at the white-haired man.

"I don't know..." Daze answered quickly, moving to the bar and taking a seat.

He looked around, as if he were lost. Doing anything he could to avoid his feelings right now. But eventually, his eyes met Kamrun. She was... so eager to help. So willing to do everything she could for him. While all he could managed was to mope around in his own sorrow and self-pity. This made him feel worse, but in a more motivational way. He let out a deep sigh and managed...

"I... think pancakes would be nice..."

Kamrun waited quietly and patiently as Daze searched, almost literally, for some kind of answer. Her light smile brightened slightly when he looked at her, and gave her an answer.

"Pancakes it is," she said quietly, beaming. She moved back and got out the cookware she would need to make pancakes, fully intent on cleaning up whatever mess she made and whatever it was she used. She did a quick search-through of the cupboards and didn't find a pre-made pancake mix, so instead grabbed what was needed to make them from scratch.

She looked at what she had, flour, baking soda, eggs, butter, sugar and milk, then looked over at where Daze sat. It wouldn't be good to let him sit there and dwell on things, and she remembered how he felt to help her cook when they were travelling. With a smile she brought everything over to the bar, setting them down in front of Daze and hopped up to sit on the bar across from him.

"Wanna help?" she asked, scooting a big bowl closer to her then took a cup and began to measure the flour, glancing at him with a smile, "we can make Bruce some breakfast together."

Daze
"I..." Daze hesitated, ready to decline helping due to his own lack of ambition.

But he didn't.

He looked at how positive Kamrun was being and... it was honestly infectious. Daze couldn't stay so downdraught while she was like that. He also couldn't let her do all the work. His honor and pride wouldn't let him. So with a brief moment of self-searching, Daze nodded without saying anything and got up to go over to Kamrun.

Each step felt like it weighed a million pounds. But he made them anyways. Getting there, foot by foot.

"Okay... how can I help?" Daze said with a forced smile, covering his despair.

Poorly.

Kamrun paused as she watched Daze move around the bar to be on the same side she was on and she smiled when he came up and asked to help. He forced a smile, and she gave him a sympathetic one, reaching forward to touch his cheek, only to snap her hand back, followed by a quick snap of the hairtie.

"Sorry," she laughed slightly, "I'll remember eventually."

She shook her head at herself and set the flour down, "okay," she brought over the baking soda and measuring spoons, disconnecting the teaspoon, "put four spoonfuls of the baking powder into the bowl," she said, adding the flour to the bowl and then grabbing the tablespoon to measure the sugar, smiling at Daze, "and then just one teaspoon of salt. Then we add the eggs and milk."

Daze
Daze winced at the sound of the hair tie snapping at her skin. It bothered him to his core that he was effecting her like this. He wanted to be touched... or, maybe... he wanted to want to be touched. He didn't know really. It was confusing and painful. Still. He had to treck through this. Wallowing in self-pity wasn't going to help anything.

"Okay..." Daze said, grabbing the teaspoon and getting to work on the baking powder. "Thank you... Kamrun," Daze said, just before adding the salt. "You, this. No. You... you mean a lot to me," Daze said, looking over at her with a slightly more genuine smile.

The tears welling in his eyes betrayed the display of happiness.

Or perhaps they complimented it.

Kamrun measured out her spoonfuls of sugar, before setting it aside and moving the bag of flour and other no longer needed ingredients, and moving the eggs and milk closer to be added next. She was going to let Daze crack the eggs, as that was always the best part of making any meal that had eggs in it, when he spoke, and she looked up at him. She paused at the words he had to say, and the tears in his eyes as he smiled softly.

She returned the smile, lifting her hand again and hesitating, then reaching for him, slowly and deliberately enough he could see her intent and move away if he wanted. It may have appeared that she was reaching for his face again, to touch his cheek, but her hand instead gently rested on the side of his head, cradling it where the hair was, remembering that touching his hair the night before had not caused him pain, though he had been asleep for it.

Smiling warmly, she spoke softly, not like when she was whispering to make sure they weren't waking up Bruce, but because a well of emotions had taken her voice away.

"You mean a lot to me too Daze, more than anyone has before. I want to help you through this, and I don't want you to be in pain anymore. I'll do what I can, I promise."

She leaned forward, again allowing him whatever time he needed to move away, and gently pressed her lips to his hair above his brow, just for a second, before she leaned back and her hand slipped away from him. Her eyes shone with her own tears as she smiled fondly at him.

Wasn't so bad for a first kiss.

Daze
Daze winced at first, pulling away a few inches before catching himself. He sighed harshly and abruptly, frustrated with himself. He was getting fed up with his own sorrow. It was slowly turning into anger and self-loathing instead of self-pity. Which, in a way, was good. Anger was more manageable. Tangible. Something he could let out.

But then he felt her. Not physically... but on an emotional level. When she spoke.

He smiled... his hair began to recede back to it's normal length, the silky material on his skin began to fade, falling off of him and onto the floor before disintegrating into nothing. He felt her lips press against his brow and for once, his skin didn't ignite into a flame from the touch of another person.

His anger subsided.

And for a moment... he felt happy.

"Thank you," he said with a smile, rubbing at his eyes to fight the tears that had built up from earlier.
