Hello! Welcome to Broken Futures!
Although we are a based on Dragon Ball keep in mind that we use it for the elements the show brought to us. We are not using ANY canon characters, only the world in which the show was built on. We are mostly a free form RPG with some stats to help track character growth. However, for the most part, your stats only matter in important fights or large events ran by a GM/DM.
We don't have any specific guidelines on what can or cannot be written about. So long as the Zetaboards ToS isn't violated. If a topic gets mature, keep it reasonable and do your best not to violate the host ToS. We don't like to limit you to what you want to write about and will trust your judgement not to make any posts in the extreme.
We are set in Future Trunks' timeline so the world is in ruin. Which would classify it as post-apoc. It's always been the best-styled setting to build a new world on top of. We have built this site to be based around the actions of the players. You will help build the world you're playing in. Every action within major events will influence how the world structures itself.
We have no word count, no canon face claims, no post formatting and no drama. We want you to come here and have fun. Before you sign up, please look over the Game a bit to decide if you are interested. After you've made an account make sure to introduce yourself here and say hello in the Chatbox. We love new members and are a very welcoming bunch of people.

It had taken her a while to get out of the house after that day, even longer to get to this place, and even still, she was standing outside the city, looking at the sand rather than the building which was her destination. She was dressed all the way from her neck down. The tight body armor that served as a catalyst for the outer suit that Roots had made for her, tucked in a metal pod between her wings, all under her coat.
But protection was not why she was wearing it.
She didn't even breathe as she lifted her eyes from the sand to the bar, the color had not changed from the color of tar since the attack on Haven, and she worried for what it meant. How much more of her was she going to lose to the demonic magic?
But that was not why she was here. Her hands in her pockets, she began to step forward. There was someone she needed to see, to talk to, and she didn't even know if he was there, ever since he cut himself away from everyone he had ever called a friend. Angeles' steps stopped again and she looked away from the building once more, standing just a few feet from the door. She didn't know if she could do this. She didn't know if she could hold herself together. She didn't know what she was going to do when she saw him, if he was even here. For all she knew, he had died.
And still, despite everything, that thought made her sick.

Angeles chuckled, pausing add she felt the warmth of Daze's magic in her chest again, before it faded and Daze's presence was apparent to her on a new level, her eyes opened barely, then closed again.
"She's worried about you, Kamrun," she smiled, "she's afraid of what I'm doing to you in here," Angeles shifted, leaning away and pulling her hand from his, "as if I may eat you, or worse. Poor girl. You want to save her the discomfort of a world filled with demons, aliens and monsters," she paused, looking at Daze, "but unfortunately she lives in it, it's not something you can hide her from, not forever."
Angeles looked to the side, off in the distance, "those damn things," she hissed and stood, "we'll find a way, something to stop them from ruling your life, Roots was working on something but something prevented him from moving on with the designs. I'll see what I can do on my end."
Angeles turned, holding a hand towards Daze, serious expression softening to a fond smile, "let's get you back to your girlfriend."

"Yeah... our world is scary," Daze agreed to her statement about the world being filled with what he wished to save Kamrun from. "But she shouldn't worry about you. I don't think you're going to eat me, I'm certain I wouldn't taste that good anyway. I heard drowning your meat in too much liquor makes it taste bad," Daze joked, refusing to get up from where they sat.
"I don't want to leave just yet... I get the feeling I won't see you again for a while. Besides, Kamrun is likely helping Bruce with housework, despite Bruce's best efforts to have her not help him. I'd only distract her and he needs the help. More than he's willing to admit," Daze added.

"Does it?" Angeles asked with a laugh to his comment about meat and alcohol, "I don't eat much so I've never tried. But I know some who cook their stakes in whiskey," she grinned, scrunching her nose. Her expression sombered when he asked that they stay, and her offered hand lowered back to her side. It was a potentially dangerous prospect to stay in the place with Daze in the fade.
Angeles' black eyes looked back to where the spheres had been shot off. How soon before they returned and Daze was... back to his usual self.
He was right though, his feeling about not seeing her again. Angeles had planned to leave him alone once she left there, keep tabs on him from afar now that she could, give him space, give them both time to recover with those that could heal them best. If possible, Angeles likely would avoid Daze for years if she could, and let him lead his own life from there.
She knew it would be hard though, especially if something happened, she would want to help, she would need to.
"I'm glad to hear she's good for both you and Bruce," Angeles said, remaining standing but looking from the distance to Daze again, "I think having someone around would do him some good. He seems... the loner type. Not sure if he's sad for it or not, but he seems to enjoy when you're around, I imagine a woman's touch is doing good for him."
She shifted her jaw looking down and debating sitting again. She was still very tired, even after a week she didn't feel as if she had fully recovered from the whole ordeal. She had bled herself dry, and had to borrow energy from sin to continue, and had nearly exhausted that supply as well. If she sat down though, she might not get back up for a while.

"Yeah, he's always liked his privacy... but I think he enjoys the company while pretending to hate it. Always there for his friends. He used to tell me that friends are like the family you never wanted or knew you had. But you got to treat them like they mean the world to you because they won't be around forever," Daze explained, laying back on the bed while his feet dangled.
He lightly pat the bed next to him, asking her to join him and just be there. She could likely feel his longing for the company. It was innocent and pure. Unlike the time with outer Daze where it was more laced with lust. There was, of course, deep down inside some mixed feelings of that. But they were weak and oppressed with other feelings.
"Right now things feel simple... I know they're not. But I want to enjoy the perspective of it while I can..." Daze admitted, stating that he is still collecting himself and is enjoying the simplicity of his current situation while it lasts.
He know it won't last long. Dark times are always brooding.

Angeles was silent as Daze explained what Bruce had taught him about friends and what it meant to be one, and she looked down, Andariel brought to the fore of her mind. Her gaze shifted again when he shifted and laid on the bed, patting the mattress beside him. Another dangerous offer, but she felt only a lick of lust from him, everything else was drowning it out. Longing the most powerful of them.
Angeles finally shifted and sat on the bed, slowly laying down beside him and fighting the urge to close her eyes and keep them closed.
"If I fall asleep," she said quietly, "just let me rest, I can find my way home from in here. Something you taught me, actually."
Angeles inhaled, remembering the portals, choosing them, then the ones she had opened from her memory of traveling with him. Here eyes closed for a moment to long, before she forced them open and sighed.
Simple. Things were anything but. She went there to demand answers, to chastise, punish if she could, but that had all evaporated into forgiveness, and now all she wanted to do was wrap her arms and wings around Daze and sleep.
She at the very least, did not do that.
"Your definition of simple is... interesting," she sighed again, the hint of a smirk on her lips.

"I won't wake you... you deserve rest after all you've been put through. After... all that I've put you through," Daze said solemnly, not resisting the temptation to reach over to try and hold her. It was probably wrong, but the feeling was too strong. Suppose it happens when two people with odd empathetic abilities are next to each other and both want the same thing.
Their ability to sort of feel each other on an emotional level is likely the root to their strange relationship.
"Simple... is relative. Compared to my future, the present is very simple... I know it won't last. I have to face the consequences for my actions and it won't be long before I do... for now, I just want to enjoy the simple times so I am prepared for it," Daze sighed.

Daze said that he wouldn't wake her up if she slept, and she closed her eyes again, opening them to dark slits when he said it was his fault.
He wasn't wrong.
She gasped slightly when he reached over and held her. She stiffened at first, resisting the sensations his contact gave. He spoke about the future, and the present, and how for just the moment, he didn't want to think of what he would have to do.
Angeles frowned and closed her eyes, her arms moving to also wrap around him, no longer fighting it, and one wing spread to curl around them both, hiding them from the void. She shifted and kissed his brow, then rested hers against his, eyes opening again, black orbs looking into his.
"I love you," she whispered, "you know that. Not like Roots, or Astraea, or Jack. But I do. It's not lust, that's there, it's always there, I've... already made the mistake of showing you that," she sighed, closing her eyes again, "You're special to me in a way I can't explain Daze. I love you, and I just... I just want you to be happy, without pain, without strife, and without," she paused, opening her eyes but not looking at him, "without regret."
She was silent for a moment, before lifting her eyes to look in his again, "I'm.... sorry."

"Don't apologize, I feel the same way, it's different. It's... complicated. But it's there. I don't even have the words to properly explain what's going on... but hey, we have the next few thousand years for me to figure that out," Daze laughed.
"Not sure if I told you... but I fucked up," Daze explained. "I used that forbidden spell while drunk with Torasin and Tyrv. I kind of made a part of myself whatever it is that Tyrv is. But my body feels different now. Tyrv explained that he's immortal. Ancient. I think I might be like him now," Daze frowned. "Was sort of bummed about it at first, but... I think it might be kind of fun," Daze smiled.

Daze said he felt the same, but she wasn't sure if he did. He also explained that he had accidentally made himself immortal, and she smirked slightly. She knew the story, Torasin had told his side of it to her, before revealing that he had the opportunity to stop Talon all along, which was not good for the boy. The side-effect that Daze himself was now immortal was a thought that stuck to the back of her mind, but the forefront wondered if his spell would work on her.
Could he make her anything but a Ripir? Could she finally be free of the temptations?
She frowned at the thought.
Deep down, did she really want to change? Roots loved her the way she was, that love was possible because of what happened. Was it worth changing and losing the things he loved about her to be rid of the temptations and emotions she couldn't control?
Would it be worth it to be free of the guilt she bore for loving Daze like she did?
Her silence probably was noticed, and her eyes focused again on his. She remained silent still for a moment longer of deliberation, then smiled a bit, "I'd hardly call that forbidden magic," she said quietly, "after six-hundred years I can tell you, immortality isn't so bad, as long as you have someone to share it with. I suppose that's some solace for the both of us, when Roots and Kamrun pass to Other World at the end of their natural lives...."
Why did she torture herself like this? She would discuss with Roots about changing what she was, it was as much his choice as it was hers, being her better half. That decided, she relaxed in Daze's arms, eyes sliding closed again for a moment.

"I'm having trouble imagining that I wont ever be an old man like Bruce much less that I'm going to outlive everyone but you," Daze sighed. "At least I'll have someone for all of eternity, assuming I don't fuck up again and make us eternal enemies or something dumb like that," Daze grumbled. "Sorry, I read too many comic books. There are characters like that. Bitter enemies who are immortal, chasing each other to the end of the Earth. Used to be lovers, that sort of thing. Seemed unrealistic when I read it, but shit... it doesn't seem so far fetched now," Daze laughed.
Daze didn't like thinking about Kamrun dying. It bothered him. Roots didn't even enter his thoughts. A part of him still cared for him deep down. But on the surface, Roots' name brought him anguish. As much as he could logically say what happened to Machi wasn't Roots fault. Deep down... his anger was directed toward him.
And he didn't want to be angry. So he didn't think about it. He snuffed it out before it festered.
It was a problem for later, not now.

A small smile grew on Angeles' lips as Daze wove an interesting story of what could be later on many years from now, if something were to happen. A soft light chuckle escaped her throat and she whispered, "you can't make me hate you."
Her eyes remained closed, and even as she whispered her voice sounded tired, but she forced herself to remain awake. She heard his thought about the deaths of those she mentioned, his dislike of them, the blip of anger before it was pushed away. The smile faded, "sorry, I didn't mean to bring the thought to your mind, I've seen the lives of many mortals begin and end, when I made friends here, I knew that it would be an eventuality, I'm prepared for it, I knew it would hurt when it happened. I counted you among those I would miss."
Angeles eyes fluttered open, "knowing I won't be losing at least one person...," she sighed, "provided either of our foolishness doesn't get us killed...."

"I'm pretty hard to kill I've learned," Daze sighed. "I should be dead a thousand times over. But there I go, keep throwing myself in front of blades, kicks and explosions for the ones I love," Daze said. "I'm reckless and foolhardy, if it wasn't for my magic I'd have died a long long time ago," he sighed.
"But whatever those orbs are have set me on a different path. You know... I'd just like to know who made them. Where did they come from and what they are. Do they even serve a purpose or was it just some fluke?" Daze inquired. "Not knowing is the worst part. But I don't even know where to start looking for that information," Daze added.

Daze spoke of the things he had done that should have killed him, even before he was immortal. The magic had spared him from numerous gruesome fates. He spoke of the orbs and how they had changed him to this life that was the only one he had known. Angeles was silent for a bit, for a moment possibly have fallen asleep.
"I can help," she offered, her eyes open, "you said you found them, we can look for where you found them, a cave with your brother. We can find the cave and start there. Then we can look for your answers."
She looked in his eyes, silent now for a moment, her arms having relaxed so they were loose around him, but her wing still covered the both of them.

"I want to, hell I even tried... but I can't remember where the cave is. I was so young and the world was in utter chaos. I wasn't educated properly either, not really. Not until Bruce got a hold of me. He was stubborn and managed to give me an education despite my mannerisms. It worked, to an extent," Daze smiled.
"I'd have to have someone dig into my memories to see what I saw... and hope they were familiar with the area by chance," Daze added, sighing lightly. "It's fine, though. Maybe one day I'll find out. I might master this power and learn for myself what they are," he claimed, throwing shots in the dark on how he'll figure it out.
He felt her arms loosen, his mirrored hers. Just sort of enjoying her company while he could. He knew that after this he was going to have to start facing his old friends. One by one. He also knew he wasn't going to get along with a lot of them like he used to. He was changing. He had to. He was too dangerous to stay the way he was.

Daze explained it was something he had tried to do, and said the solution was to dig into his memories. Angeles shifted, lifting a hand and letting it rest gently on the side of his face, fingers touching his temple.
"I can do that," she said, just a whisper, her eyes locked unblinking in his, "and there's not a place on this Earth I haven't been. If you let me."
She was silent, eyes still fixed on his, and her wing shifted, folding down along his back, careful about where the claws were, though he could likely feel their prick near his shoulder.
"If I go digging, and I show you what I find, it might... not all be pleasant, you lived through a world that was destroyed, you may have lost things you will never get back, you may be happier not knowing..., but I will help you any way I can."

"There's no fun in not knowing. Flaw of being human, killer curiosity," Daze smirked, sitting up so she had a better angle to do her thing. "If I wasn't a curious person I would've never talked to you in the bar that day," Daze teased, reminding her of how they are even in the position they're in now.
"Go ahead, I'm ready," Daze smiled, letting out a sigh of anticipation.
To say he was nervous was an understatement. He was about to find out about something he had been curious about for quite some time.

Daze said he was willing to live with the consequences, he wanted to know, more than he was afraid of what he might learn. He shifted a bit off the bed, and her other hand lifted to mirror the other side of his head. His comment about the bar brought back those memories, and she smiled for a moment, then closed her eyes.
"Don't fight it, I don't know if it will hurt you if you resist," she said. Taking a breath, she then stopped breathing entirely to focus solely on this task.
He said he was ready, and she began, her mind which had been skating on his surface thoughts dove in deeper, and she made sure to have her mind connected to his, so that he could see what she saw.

Daze
|
"Hey Daze, quit fighting with your brother. He's much older than you, you're only going to get hurt," A motherly voice called out.
"Damien, go easy on him. His body can't handle it... his condition, it won't let his muscles grow correctly. It's not nice to pick on him..." A fatherly voice spoke, scolding a brother. Unaware of an eavesdropping son.
"Hey Daze! I found these cool ruins. You want to go see 'em with me. Betcha' Lucy will definitely go out with you if you bring her back something cool!" An older brother, coercing a sibling into something dangerous.
"Man Damien, I don't know. Why would Lucy want some old rock? This place is dark and scary anyway." A young boy protested in a dark ruin.
"Daze you wimp! If you ever want to bag a cute girl like I did with Celeste. You're gonna have to be stronger than that. Bring Lucy something cool home. She'll think your're strong and you'll have a girlfriend for sure!!" An older brother taunts, using a childhood crush as incentive to do something reckless.
"That's such a long fall... I don't think it's very safe. I see another entrance down here though. Damien, hold my hand, I don't wan to--- DAMIEN!!" A young boy's voice cried as it fell down a steep cliff, several dozen feet before hitting the ground.
"Oh shit, Daze! Are you alright! You just stay there, I'm gonna go get Mom and Dad!" An older brother commanded, scared for his brother's safety... and scared of being in trouble. The older brother never came back. As night fell, Daze ventured further into the temple, following a faint light for he was still scared of the dark.
--
"Ah!" Daze cried aloud, pulling away from Angeles. His concentration broke, he... however remembered. It wasn't a cave like he thought. It was an old ruin. Ancient. Covered in a thicket. "Oh my god... I've been looking in the wrong place... I always remembered it as a cave in a mountain or the mesas... but it was an old temple ruin covered in a forest? My brother... It's been so long since I've heard his voice or seen his face," Daze spoke through trembled breaths.
"I didn't remember any of that before... it feels so... strange to know it now."

Angeles

The memories came broken, which she wasn't surprised at, from the look of things he was young, and even if his memories weren't scattered by the orbs, it was difficult to remember things from a young age. She learned thing from the first few flashes, until the memory became more coherent, more relevant. She processed and fed the information to Daze as she saw it, likely confusing him, but there wasn't a way to make it more coherent.
She heard a name, Celeste, and filed it away, focusing, keeping the memory.
Daze fell and was abandoned, or forgotten, and being young and afraid of the night, he began to walk towards the light.
That's when Daze yelled and pulled away. Angeles' eyes opened but she lowered her hands and was silent.
Daze spoke, to himself, his thoughts about as disjointed as his words, his voice trembling. He spoke of his brother, and Angeles recalled the name Celeste that was attached to it. She knew that name, but it was no guarantee it was the same woman.
Angeles' hand lifted from the bed to touch his cheek, he was trembling, "I know that place," she said softly, "not that ruin specifically, but the forest, I know where it is."
Angeles' fingers slipped from his skin, and she looked at him through her black eyes, "you were scared of the dark," she whispered, "so you went to the light."
She tilted her head at him a bit, "do you want to remember more?"

Daze
|
Daze was silent for a moment. He wasn't sure. A part of him really did. It was nice knowing what his mother and father's voice sounded like. Seeing his brother's face again... remembering his brother's name. But now he knows his brother left him there. Hours and hours went by as he sat there alone, scared.
"Yes... I want to know more," Daze nodded with a deep breath. "I have a lot of questions that need answering," Daze sighed harshly.
"Thank you."
