Ja'vosh and Quenath circled in the air, heading down to the beach. The pair enjoyed pulling sweep duty, when they could. However, this time, it was important. With the dragons getting sick and dying, it was vital to see if the wild flits were also being affected with the virus. So far, there had been no signs of fire lizards. However, that had changed. He had spotted what looked to be some flits sprawled on the sand.

"Keep back, Que. Don't need you getting sick." Ja'vosh warned the Bronze, as he climbed down.

I have no intention of going any closer than what I am now.

Once he was on the ground, the Bronzerider made his way over to where he spotted the flit. He could tell that it was a Gold laying there, but she did not move. Once he had reached her, Ja'vosh could tell that she was dead, as were the others that were around her.

"Looks like this fair died from the virus. I think I see a nest though. I'm going to check it out." Ja'vosh informed his dragon, as he headed towards the sheltered mound. He gave a gasp, then pulled a bag out of a pocket.
"We've got eggs!"

Carefully scooping up generous amounts of hot sand to pack around the eggs, Ja'vosh carefully transferred the nest to his bag. He then made his way back to the waiting Quenath.

"There was about 8 eggs there. Hopefully we found them in time."

We should see if we can find others. Que insisted. And we should see about getting someone here to deal with the remains of the little cousins.

"Agreed. Mark this spot, will you?"

Quenath dug a hole far enough from the shore to keep it from being filled in. Then he permitted his rider to climb back aboard.

By the time that the pair had returned to the Weyr, they had found 36 flit eggs in total, all of them belonging to nests of dead flits.
