The scene opens with Roi Rene Dupree standing in front of the European Union flag (dark blue with a circle of yellow stars in the middle, can’t remember how many).

March 25, 2007. This day holds a special spot for us for a number of reasons. It was fifty years ago on that day that the Treaty of Rome was signed. With that treaty, a joint Europe was born. What came from that treaty led to what we now call the European Union. Fifty years ago, and it is still going strong, with the Euro worth more than the all-mighty American dollar. Sure, there have been turbulent times. A while back, when coming up with the EU constitution, it was France, among a few other nations, that did not pass it. It is not because we think the EU is irrelevant, we just thought that the constitution could have been changed more. We are proud to be part of the EU, and we look to continue to further the strength of Europe, to heights it has not seen since before the two world wars.

What else is special about that day? It marks our debut at EBWF Wrestlemania. When we first joined the EBWF, it was during the King of the Ring, all the way back in 2004. Then, as Wrestlemania 4 was approaching, we needed to take a leave of absence. That kept us out of both the 2005 and 2006 Wrestlemanias, as we returned once again, during the King of the Ring tournament, this past year. But here we are, mere days before the biggest day on the wrestling calendar. And while we were never given a chance to qualify for the Money in the Bank ladder match that we should have gotten, nor were we given the opportunity to take Kenny Doane’s main event spot, just as Shane Helms had done the month prior from the Undertaker, even though we dominated M. Doane, we still have managed to make our way onto the card. We deserve to be on it a lot more than most, minus the surprise return of Chris Jericho, if only for one night. Do not take that out of context, we do not know how long he is staying, we just think it may only be. But we do have a match, and we are, as predicted, defending the Iron Man Championship. Finally, though, we have been heard, no, it is not a pure rules match as we asked, but it is a submission match.

A submission match. Finally, after all the times we have said we wanted a non-hardcore match, we finally get it. It took almost two months, but here it is, on the grandest stage of them all. We are nominated for Hardcore Wrestler of the Year, to be awarded to us the night before Wrestlemania. This will just further cement our status as the greatest wrestler in the EBWF. We may not have the best record, or the most championships won, but we most definitely are the most diverse. We are going from being Hardcore Wrestler of the Year to making a man submit who is known to use a submission move quite frequently. That man, is of course, Sting.

Sting, this is a submission match, and you are known for using the Scorpion Deathlock. Either Wes has seen how great we are and knows we can win this match, or is sick of us, and hoping that a match like this will be too much for us to cope with and we will lose this championship. Well, if that is the case, then the higher-ups should have done their homework, because while we may have not used a submission here in the EBWF, we do know submission moves, and these moves will be what gain us the victory. Sting, as you very well should know, no one has kicked out of the Suplex D’Exploder. Well, on the most important night of the EBWF calendar year, you are getting off easy, because if we hit you with it, we know you will go semi-conscious and not be able to tap out, no matter how painful the submission. If you really do become a handful, then we will just hit it, so that you are no longer a problem.

Sting, this is your first Wrestlemania, and this is our first Wrestlemania as well. One of us will leave with 1-0, and the other 0-1. We know that in this type of match, or any Iron Man Championship match, there is no such thing as a champion’s handicap. There must be a winner and there must be a loser. Whether we are walking in as champion or challenger has no bearing on the outcome of the match. However, Sting, this is not our first meeting. Do you remember the last time we met? We certainly do. How could we forget, back in June. If not for you, we would not have become EBWF Hardcore Champion. You were the man to fall victim to the Suplex D’Exploder. Wrestlemania will be a repeat of it. Sure, no Arik Cannon this time, but us beating you, allowing us to walk away with the championship belt is what will happen.

Sting, you debuted back in the 1980s. You have had so much experience. You have made countless people tap out to the Scorpion Deathlock. Just the name itself, Deathlock. If you get locked in and you do not tap or reach the ropes, your only way out is death. Sting, while it may very well be a modified Sharpshooter (or the exact same thing, but let’s ignore that), that little bit of modification is what causes it to be so potent, just like a scorpion’s venom. You have held multiple championships and we know that without a doubt, you will find your way into the EBWF Hall of Fame when your time comes. Wrestlemania 6, however, may turn out to be a black mark on your growing legacy. A scorpion’s venom affects everyone differently, some needing to be in the hospital for weeks, while others barely noticing. Then again, some scorpion’s venom does not even do much to humans, other than cause a rash at the point where the skin was pierced. To us, that is all the Scorpion Deathlock will be. We have been grated with barbed wire, wrestled on a sprained ankle, been inside more steel cages than most animals in shelters and you expect us to cringe at the thought of being twisted like a pretzel?

Remember, in order to actually lock in a submission move, you have to beat us down enough that we do not resist. Well, it does not matter what you do, we will resist. We are not like some of the other wrestlers you have faced, who give up when faced with some adversity. For the entire summer and even some of autumn, we lost far more matches than we won. We could have quit, seen the troubles and realized our career was not worth the work anymore. Did we do that? No, instead we did the opposite. Since Halloween Hell we have been on a rampage. Three losses, and that is including the Royal Rumble. We have not lost a pay-per-view match since EBWF Destiny all the way back in September. On the biggest night of them all, now is not the time for us to end that streak.

We always said that destiny was a stupid concept, and we still stand behind it. It has been our hard work that got us here. God may have given us the talent, but we actually did something with it. We decided not to waste it. Our future is not predetermined, and if we lost a match, that was because of our lack of preparation, not because it was some higher power who thought that then was our time. Sting, if we do not want to lose, we will not lose. The only time we have ever given up was when we had barbed wire grated over our face. Twisting our legs slightly will not cause the same amount of pain as that. We have been locked in submission moves before, but we are not scared of this match, like we were of the Barbed Wire Massacre match. This match will take a lot out of us, we know it. It has been a while since we last used a submission move, almost a year now, when we were wrestling in France, training to get back into EBWF form. Sure, those wrestlers may not have the talent as you do, but at a younger age than you, they have the resiliency. That is something we have also. If you twist us, our body will give more than yours will. As you age, your flexibility decreases, it is a fact of life, not a knock at you. Just know that what you were once capable of wiggling out of, struggling out of, may be the end of your match.

Sting, this championship reign has matured us. A few months back, we would have been making fun of your age, saying you were too old and worn down, but we know that is not the case. While you do have less mobility, it is probably only a slight amount. You still are wrestling a full schedule after all. If you were broken down, you would not be able to survive another week in the EBWF. You may even go out and claim this is the best you have felt in your entire life. Just remember, what you feel and what your body feels are two different things. The body naturally diminishes over time, and since your body has been in top shape for over fifteen years now, it is slowing down, even if it is ever so slightly. To most, it would be negligible. To us, that slight drop in your ability is what will vault us past you. Yes, a drop that is probably not even measurable, forget noticeable, will be your downfall. We do not know how you approach this sport any longer, since you have been in it so long, but we know about our approach. We may have nine years of experience, but we still consider ourself a student of the sport. We know we have much to learn. We do walk around with an air of confidence, but it is nowhere like that of some of the others. Just because we happen to be royalty, it is overblown and thought of as arrogance. Well, sorry to tell you, but arrogance is necessary. If you are humble, you will get nowhere. It took our arrogance to get us championship opportunities. You, on the other hand, are proof that having a humble attitude will leave you off the biggest card of the year, as you were last year. Christopher is also proof of that, as he is nowhere to be found on the Wrestlemania card. He may be a great trainer, but his wrestling attitude might need a little work, not so much his skills. Yes, we will be training with Christopher, because we do need to dust off our submission moves. Like we said, it has been a while, but make sure you do not make the mistake like so many others, and see this time off as a problem you can exploit. We know that we are quite adept submission-wise, but so many others only see us as a one-dimensional brawler, even though our finisher is a suplex, which is a wrestling move, not a brawling move. We have much more to prove than you Sting, especially against you. We have beaten these flash-in-the-pan contenders in M. Helms and M. Doane, but you are someone who has been in the sport for a long time, and have been through many different scenarios and matches. This is what you bring to the ring, and we know will hinder us. We know you have faced, and beaten, many young wrestlers, even as you continue to age. You probably see us as just another young stud who thinks he is all that. Well, sorry to tell you, but we know we are not all that. That would be Alexandre thinking that, and the fans love him, which just goes to show you the moral basis of the fans, the same fans who cheer you, a man who is so proud of his religion. We know we have a lot to learn, and even more to accomplish before we can even be considered in the same league as you. Do we think we will make it into the EBWF Hall of Fame? Of course, but not if we were to retire right now. But, with the way we are going, it does seem like a sure bet. As of right now, we are the second-longest reigning EBWF Iron Man/European Champion. Our goal truly is to become longest reigning and go beyond that. Sting, of course you know that means losing to you is not an option in this case then. We are sure there is always next year for you to make up your Wrestlemania loss. Many accomplished wrestlers lose at Wrestlemania. It is, after all, only one day of the year. It may be the most important, but just like Jesus told the devil that “Man cannot live on bread alone”, a wrestler cannot survive on the reputation of one day alone. We definitely have not been doing that, as we have constantly been successful since late October.

There is a good reason why we will be the one to win the Hardcore Wrestler of the Year award on Saturday, and also why we will be the one winning our submission match on Sunday. You probably want to know what we can do that is of a submission nature, especially someone like us. Well, our skills are more than adequate, we are nowhere near the likes of John Cena, who just randomly pulls out a submission move and starts using it without actually working the body part. We know that we will have to wear you down. What was once a back or neck at 100% will slowly shrink to 90%, then 80% and then down to 30% and lower if need be, until you reach the point where you will not be able to go any longer and will have to tap. Yes, we did say the back and neck. Maybe even to a lesser extent the legs. You see, while your conquests using the Scorpion Deathlock are well known, our submission victories are not. No one here in the EBWF has kicked out of the Suplex D’Exploder, so there has been no need to finish them off with a submission move. But we do have some that will neutralize any threat you wish to give to us.

First off, we have a move made famous by the Man of 1000 Holds. When it was used constantly by Dean Malenko, you know the move is effective, and from experience, we know it is. The Texas Cloverleaf. It wrenches your legs, your back and even your neck to a lesser extent. No need for a fancy name. Just like the Suplex D’Exploder is the name of the move, so is the Texas Cloverleaf. We are not going to call it the French Cloverleaf, because that would just be dumb. Just like our match will be, straight up, no gimmicks, no euphemisms, just telling it like it is. We know you know what the Texas Cloverleaf can do, and if you are lucky enough, you will get to see first-hand.

And another move which we could easily cause you to submit is the Bonne Nuit. Sure, maybe a little more gimmicky, but this move we have been using for some time now, back when we needed to make up names for our moves to make them seem more powerful. Now, it is not needed because our moves speak for themselves. But, we do put our arm around your neck, and Bonne Nuit…Goodnight! Sgt. Slaughter used the Cobra Clutch, we use the Bonne Nuit. What is it with animal names? If you go limp, the match will be over, as you will be unable to continue, and the referee will have no choice to award us the win. Of course, if you do not want to pass out, you can always tap out, knowing that the neck-wrenching pain will cause you to pass out. If you are wondering, in case you are not sure, but a veteran like you should know this already, the Bonne Nuit is perfectly legal. It is not a choke. It is a modified half-nelson, a move that is legal in not just professional wrestling, but amateur wrestling as well. Considering just about everything is banned in the Olympics, if this is allowed, then there will be no problem with us using it on you.

This is not just us speaking like a university professor, all theory, no practical. We have used both these moves in matches, and have made our opponents submit. Sure, these are only two, but they are our two main ones. We have so many more minor ones that we can use. Sting, do not be too surprised if you tap out to a Boston Crab, or are the first person since the 1980s to tap out to a Camel Clutch, Mohammed Hassan’s opponents notwithstanding. Sting, we hit you with the Suplex D’Exploder the last time we fought, so you should very well know that the move affects both your neck and back, the same spots these submission moves target. Any old Jean (get it, instead of Joe) can lock in a submission move, it takes someone knowledgeable in submission moves to know which moves to use based on what body part is taking the most damage, or looks to be injured. If we need to change our strategy mid-match, we will. Remember, we are the Iron Man Champion, where habits do not work well, and strategy constantly needs to be changed, based not only on the opponent, but on match type as well.

This is our first submission match, but that will not deter us from making sure that we walk out of our first Wrestlemania still holding the EBWF Iron Man Championship. We have the necessary tools to win, and so do you. It will come down to who uses what they are given better. All signs might point to you. We have spent many defenses inside a steel cage, using it to our advantage. But, upon further inspection, you will see that we are much more prepared for this match. Sure, we have been in steel cage matches, but one was an iron man match inside the cage, and one was a Barbed Wire Massacre match. While they are hardcore matches, and the surrounding area is not only fair, but dangerous, it has helped us vastly. Just like students better at math are better at problem solving because the skills are similar, so are we going to be better in this match, because we know it will be something different. During each match we have wrestled, we have needed to adapt in-match, even though we did train with Christopher, it was not perfect. That in-match adaptation will once again happen during this submission match of ours. We know it will, which will also benefit us. We know how we will react in an unknown match, we have so many times before. That way, when we do wrestle, we will know how our body is working, and be able to overcome the inexperience as we have so many times before. We do incorporate a learning curve into each of our matches, so that we do not surprise ourself. Go ahead, try and take us down early. As soon as we get acquainted with the match, there will be no stopping us. Once we are familiar with the match, which should take no more than a couple of minutes, we will be wrestling better than any other veteran you have ever faced. We will make you feel that this is our thousandth submission match, when it really is our first. Do not panic, but remember, you are up against true royalty, not self-proclaimed royalty as you claim us to be, and when you lose, at least you can say that you lost to a roi, and not a lowly peasant.
(Rene smiles to the camera) Well, it is now off to Windsor. Detroit is hosting Wrestlemania, and M. Scott D’Amore has allowed us to stay with him and use the Border City Wrestling equipment for training with Christopher, so we will be there for the next few days.

Rene leaves and the scene ends.

---------------------------------------------------

The scene reopens in the airport lobby, where you check your bags, even before entering the terminal and waiting area and all (it’s been a while since I last was in an airport, so I’m just going off of an 8 year memory). Rene is waiting in line, when a group of about ten elementary school students come, carrying a large French flag, without the pole (Yes, there’s a teacher).

Bonjour.

The kids: Bonjour, Roi Rene. (The teacher starts talking as the kids just smile, some noticeably missing their front teeth.) Bonjour Rene. Well, we knew you were going to Wrestlemania, so our school decided to make this for you. (The kids push their hands out and push the flag to Rene. He grabs it and notices the patchwork and names) This was made by our entire school. Every student made a small patch, and put their name on it and sewed it to the adjacent patch.

It is very beautiful.

I’m glad you like it. It’s for you.

Us?

Yes, you. Some of the students decided that since it was your first Wrestlemania, you should have something for you to remember that all of France is cheering for you.

Well, we will take it. And, it is just the right size. Christopher has the French flag with him because the airplane security is crazy, but we will unstitch it from the pole and place this flag on it instead. This flag will be with us as we enter Ford Field and when we leave it, along with the EBWF Iron Man Championship.

Thank you Rene, that’s really nice of you.

Well, it was very nice of the students to make this for us. We would have never expected it.

Well, we’ll let you get on your way. Students? (All the students) Au revoir, Rene.

Au revoir.

The students leave, as Rene opens up his suitcase and folds the flag nicely and puts it in. He doesn’t need the trouble of airport security days before the biggest EBWF pay-per-view of the year. He checks his bags, goes through the security checks and waits for his plane as the scene ends.

-------------------------------------------

The scene opens in one of Windsor, Ontario’s community centres. A ring is set up, and Roi Rene Dupree and Christopher Daniels are in it. Both are in their wrestling gear.

In three days, you will be defending the Iron Man Championship in a submission match. You may have had submission matches back in France, but this is different. This is a higher caliber. Before I get you into the thick of things, let’s work on the submissions. I know you have some in mind, and we’ll use them. I just want to see how crisp everything is. Maybe from here I can take a look and see how you can position yourself to possibly inflict more pain.

That works. What do you have planned?

Well, since I have to watch you, I decided to get a little help. Since we’re in Windsor, Petey Williams (I didn’t see him anywhere on the roster, so I’m guessing it’s fine) was willing to get locked in a submission from you.

Petey Williams comes from the locker-room, adjusting his kneepad, showing he just finished getting ready. He gets in the ring and shakes hands with Rene. Petey lies on the ground and Rene locks in the Texas Cloverleaf. Petey grunts in pain, as Daniels looks on. Rene tightens the hold, causing Petey to get louder. Daniels continues looking on. Daniels grabs Rene’s leg and moves it over to the side a little more, and this allows Rene more leverage and a tighter hold, wrenching Petey even more. Daniels tells Petey to give resistance, so Petey tries wriggling out. Rene tries to hold on, but his grip slowly slips. Daniels tells Rene how to hold Petey in a better position and how to keep himself in a good position. Rene changes up his position, and this gives Rene added support, and he continues to hold on, despite the struggles from Petey. Petey starts pushing himself towards the ropes. Rene gets pulled along with Petey. Rene tries getting his feet in position, but can’t find a good position. Daniels helps Rene with his placement, and Rene stabilizes himself, causing Petey to not be able to go anywhere. Petey tries to push himself to the ropes, but gets nowhere, and tries to wriggle out, but also gets nowhere. Rene fixes his footing, and adjusts his arms. This causes more pain on Petey and he taps out. Rene lets go. Petey holds his back, as Daniels and Rene talk.

Rene, it was good, but it’s easy to see the only people you’ve made submit are lesser competitors. You have a good base, much better than many people who try submissions, but that’s all you have. You could position yourself a lot better to get better leverage and to get a better and tighter grip, as well as be able to stretch his back even more. I know you’ve seen Chris Benoit wrestle. When he locks in the Sharpshooter, and then the opponent crawls to the ropes, and Benoit gets pushed with him, that’s because Benoit doesn’t have a good base (Yes, I just said Benoit screws up submissions. I know he doesn’t but it’s a good kayfabe reason, come on, think about it.). He’s gotten lazy. Fine, in a non-title situation it’s ok, but Rene, you have the Iron Man Championship on the line, and you can’t let laziness take over. (Turning to Petey, who’s starting to get up) Petey, are you ready for some more?

Ya, but how’d you talk me into this?

I didn’t, you agreed automatically. Well, you can stay up, Rene’s going to try the Bonne Nuit.

Petey shakes his head in shame that he actually agreed. Rene gets behind him and locks in the Bonne Nuit. Petey starts screaming right away. Daniels looks intently, but doesn’t see anything wrong, yet. Petey tries walking to the ropes, but Rene holds on, not letting him move. Rene locks his hands tighter, as Petey continues to flail. Daniels looks on, but still sees nothing wrong. Petey somehow overpowers Rene slightly and walks forward and grabs the ropes. Rene lets go, seeing the rope break. Daniels yells to Rene, “This is a title match, do something!” Rene automatically hits a forearm to Petey’s back. This causes Petey to let go of the ropes. Rene grabs Petey’s tights and pushes him back towards him, into the centre of the ring. Rene locks the Bonne Nuit again. Petey tries to walk forward again. This causes Rene to kick Petey in the back of the leg, and he reflexively bends his knee. Rene leans to that side, causing the knee to bend more, and Petey to bend his other knee so that it doesn’t break. Rene then falls back and locks in a body scissors, so it now looks sort of like the Tazzmission, but it’s not. Petey taps as there is nowhere, or nothing he can do. Rene lets go, stands up and is face-to-face with Daniels.

Rene, you said that you’ve been using this move for a while now. It really shows. This was a lot more crisp than the Texas Cloverleaf. You knew how to position your body right away. The only problem I had was that you did nothing once he reached the ropes. However, when I told you, you instinctively did something smart, with the body scissors addition.

We have been able to use it more, but we want to be able to work on the Texas Cloverleaf, especially since it works the back, which is the main body part the Suplex D’Exploder targets.

I understand. We’ll let Petey rest a little, and then you’ll continue to work on the Cloverleaf. You seemed to get the Bonne Nuit down, so we’ll keep that minimal.

After Petey rests a little and gets some ice to numb the pain, they continue again. The rest of the day is spent on the submission moves. However, in the last two hours, Daniels and Rene just fight, with Daniels giving resistance to anything Rene does. This obviously tires Rene, but Rene continues fighting. Finally, he hits the Suplex D’Exploder and locks in the Texas Cloverleaf. He positions himself as best he can, and there is nothing Daniels can do, he taps. Rene lets go and looks to the camera.

Sting, we have been practicing, and we will continue to practice. We are three days away from Wrestlemania. That still leaves all of tomorrow, and most of Saturday, with the exception of the Slammies. Sunday, we will of course train some more, and Sunday night, there will be no escape for you. Ayez peur et Bonne Nuit…Be afraid and Goodnight!

The scene ends with Rene Dupree smirking.
