PWInsider EBWF News October 4, 2008 - EBWF Insiders say BG James isn't at all well liked, and creative is having a hard time finding anything new for him. The biggest obstacle seems to be that he's so often linked with Kip James that fans are having a hard time accepting him singularly. Insiders also report that BG himself is of the opinion that he is still a 'DX type draw' which is... at the very least, an opinion not shared by the board of directors. -Sources at EBWF insist that Wes Ikeda is not impressed with Dave Batista. Wes thinks that Batista is an overrated shooter and a particularly bad wrestler. Our sources said that Wes was overheard saying he would never get in the ring with Batista because his technique and execution is "scary". -Wes Ikeda somewhat mimics the style of Mick Foley and is said to be enjoying his EBWF Work. Foley is said to be working on a month by month basis with EBWF. There is currently no talk of signing the living legend to a contract as his long term health is still in question. -Rumors at EBWF are that Edward Kaufman is the only higher up at EBWF that has even had communication with The Undertaker or The Rock. Reports suggest that it has been made clear to both men that they are yesterdays news, and they've got to work their way up the ranks like everyone else. Rumors persist that neither Mark Calloway or Dwayne Johnson are happy with that decision and Johnson especially is expected to take a walk very soon. -Despite the kayfabe story, Kevin Nash is said to be in LA working on a film which is why he is currently on a Leave of Absence. Scott Hall refused to work with anyone other than Triple H or HBK, but respectfully agreed that he wouldn't fit into the current DX angle. Since he and Nash are widely known to come in a package, he too has been placed on a LOA. -Beth Phoenix has created one too many enemies in the Women's locker room. She first insulted Women's Wrestling Icon, Trish Stratus' mic skills. Soon after she was overheard criticizing EBWF staple Jillian Hall's looks. She belittled Christy Hemme's title reign, despite the former champion's vast improvements in the ring. However, the biggest blow to Beth's credibility when she allegedly bad mouthed Joanie Helmsley, reportedly calling her IC Title reigns 'weak' and 'undeserved'. -Development is said to be pleased with the work of Brian Kendrick, Drake Younger, and Chuck Taylor. Hardly surprising considering that EBWF Chairman Wes Ikeda has always pushed cruiserweights in the EBWF. -There is a serious lack of faith in the "Masked Kane" character. EBWF insiders say that there may be a serious lack of faith in Kane all together. -Wes Ikeda likes Ken Kennedy. He likes his attitude, his in ring skills, and his mic work. Expect a push for Kennedy come Survivor Series. -EBWF creative is at a loss for young Randy Orton. Orton insists he is a natural heel, but Stephanie McMahon thinks he needs to work on getting over before he works on getting put over. -Steve Austin was brought in to serve as a ratings boost. While the EBWF fans have been receptive of Austin, the ratings haven't seemed to budge at all because of his addition to the roster. -Dustin "Goldust" Runnels has been released from EBWF. No reason was given but sources say that EBWF Publicist Lynne McClinton claimed that Wes Ikeda and Stephanie McMahon found Runnels "too weird". -Talia Madison is said to be enjoying her work in EBWF. The Women's Title was a reward for her hard work and good attitude. -Sources backstage report that there was an intention of putting the World Championship on the Miz, but when he started falling apart three weeks before his planned push Ed Kaufman convinced EBWF Chairman Wes Ikeda that the Miz was falling apart ala Jeff Hardy and couldn't be trusted to carry the show. The tag championships with Shane Helms are rumored to be a "baby sitting" situation, as Helms is one of very few that has been with the EBWF since the beginning 7 years ago and still hasn't been kicked out of "The Curtain Jerks", the new name for Wes Ikeda and his "boys". -Details are sketchy, but many people are wondering if Dusty Rhodes is planning on staying with the EBWF since his son was released. -Jeff Jarrett is on a final warning with EBWF and if he doesn't shape up he's expected to be shipping out before Fanniversary. -EBWF Fanniversary, marks the company's seventh year. While a media whirlwind is scheduled from now until show time the event officially kicks off Friday, October 24th when several EBWF Wrestlers and Personalities are expected to participate in the first annual "Dine for Kids" at the Hard Rock Cafe St. Louis. Wrestlers for the event have not been announced, tickets go on sale this Saturday. $30 a ticket gets you dinner with EBWF Personalities with 100% of the proceeds going to the Make a Wish Foundation. Saturday, October 25th, will be EBWF Fan Access at the Hilton Hotel Ballroom. Every EBWF wrestler is expected to dedicate at very least three hours to a meet and greet with the fans, the event starts at 8am and is scheduled to end at 5pm, with many Superstars committed to the days event. October 26th is Fanniversary, live from Scottrade Center in St. Louis. -It is also important to note that Saturday, October 25th's schedule at Ike's, Wes Ikeda's night club, is simply marked off as TBA. The club's manager would confirm nothing about the date other than to say that the ultra exclusive VIP room is booked. -Big Daddy V is in serious talks with the board of directors, and is hopeful for a world title shot. -While Lacey and Wes Ikeda get along on a personal level, Lacey is said to be unhappy with her current position with EBWF. Ikeda is refusing to let Lacey out of her contract though. Wes feels she's a great asset to EBWF, and he's hesitant about letting her go because of the work he knows she's capable. The last thing he needs right now is a fan favorite like Lacey taking her fans to another promotion. -EBWF is looking like it's going to profit huge this fourth quarter. The company had a struggling second quarter and a disastrous third. Joanie Helmsley is credited with turning things around, and is also said to be brokering a deal with television networks in Italy further expanding EBWF's programming empire. -Besides one on screen appearance the administration has all but ignored Lance Storm. Insiders report that he's a kind of like the "elephant in the room" and Wes is hoping if he ignores him he'll go away. -For what it's worth, the same rumor that's been going around for over a year is circulating again, Sting is insisting that Ric Flair be welcomed back into the EBWF. Triple H is threatening to walk. -Shane Helms is 'taking one for the team' in holding the Tag Titles. Reports indicate that he has been doing more and more work in EBWF Training Grounds and enjoying some time at home with his wife and daughter. Edward Kaufman has been overheard hinting at a "sadistic heel turn" for Sugar Shane Hurricane Gregory Helms come Christmas Eve of Destruction. -Wes hesitantly allowed for the sting World Title reign. He was afraid that Steve Borden wouldn't be up to the task of handling the hectic schedule and so far his fears have been proven right. -Shawn Michaels has been mysteriously absent from any title chase recently. Michaels still has a couple of years left on his multi-million dollar contract, and some are fearing that the veteran is planning on riding out his contract to collect his millions, a practice not unheard of amongst "The Curtain Jerks". -Chris Jericho is enjoying being back in the spotlight and reportedly enjoys his angle with Lance Storm. Jericho is rumored to be regaining the world title at Fanniversary, providing Triple H doesn't play his rematch card. If he does, he is widely rumored to be operating a "ask and ye shall receive" relationship with Wes Ikeda. -Trish Stratus is reportedly so hurt and offended by the comments Beth Phoenix made about her that she hasn't come to any EBWF shows since defeating the Glamazon last month. Trish feels she deserves much more respect than what the EBWF Women's locker room is showing her. -Christy Hemme recorded an episode of The Bonnie Hunt show on Friday to promote EBWF Fanniversary. The show will air Monday but audience members reported that Bonnie made a big deal about Christy's relationship with Wes Ikeda asking "How does it feel going home every night with the 8th wealthiest, sexiest man alive, most eligible bachelor, most influential man in the entertainment industry..." Christy simply replied, "He's fun." The conversation only went back to Wes one other time when Bonnie asked her how she chose the bikini for the EBWF 2009 Calendar shoot, to which Christy replied that "Wes picked it." Christy was gracious, sweet, and all together low key. -EBWF.net recently had a poll asking what fans most wanted for Fanniversary. Among the options were an appearance by Alex Shelley, an uncensored DX Promo, and a live performance from Fozzy. The fans chose the fourth option, Wes Ikeda will record a song for Fanniversary and is expected to record a video to be aired during the PPV. -Triple H has canceled the appearance he was supposed to make on the Tonight Show with Jay Leno. The appearance was scheduled to take place with his wife Joanie Helmsley. Joanie is still scheduled to appear. EBWF Publicist Lynne McClinton is sighting scheduling conflicts as the reason for Triple H's cancelation, however a credible source at NBC is blabbing that Joanie Helmsley's Interview Rider requests that Jay Leno ask no questions about her husband, a request that was rarely ever made when they were keeping their relationship secret, let alone now. -Eric Bischoff is on his last leg with EBWF and insiders say that he's expected to be terminated by the end of October. Rumors are circulating that Joanie Helmsley will be taking the position of Chief Financial Officer. A credible EBWF source says that isn't true and quoted Wes Ikeda as saying he "wouldn't give the purse to someone who doesn't know the meaning of the word budget." |
