WIP! [Picture] THROTHEH INTRODUCTION Notable Locations & Leaders Sector: Segmentum Ultima | Area: Dominion of Storms | Planet (Crownworld), planet (coreworld), planet (coreworld), planet (fringeworld) Etymology: Throtheh is a combination of two Egyptian gods: Thoth and Heh. Thoth is the god of knowledge of the Egyptian pantheon. I added an R after the h to add a more firm sound to the first-half of the dynasty name. I utilized this God as this dynasty is pursuing the closure of the warp to the mortals. This is a pursuit of knowledge, thus fitting. The second god is Heh, the god of eternity. Given that this dynasty is patient that will use its immortality to slowly conquer the galaxy at large, this god made sense. Together, I smashed the two gods together, modified the first one and created the dynasty name of Throtheh. It is pronounced Troth-heh. Originally, I thought about naming the dynasty the Khonsuheh. This involved smashing two Egyptian gods together: Khonsu and Heh. Khonsu means the traveler, and he would safeguard those well, traveling. My idea was that, to shut down the Warp, would require a lot of traveling to find out the sciences of the warp. Thus hence, the god. Fortunately before I got too far, I found out there was a Necron dynasty named close to this: the Khansu Dynasty. I changed the name as to be distinctive. Phaeron Khetmidion: This is a mesh of the words "khet" which is a reference to flame or fire, and to "pyramidion", which is a capstone of a pyramid. Pronounced Ket-midion. Overlord Habteus: This is a mesh of the words "ushabt" which means to answer, and "uraeus" which is a reference to a protector of the king that would spit fire at its foes. Pronounced Habt-oose. Overlord Sepathemia: This is a mesh of words "sepat" which is reference to a administrative zone, and "sekhemia" which is a symbol of authority. Pronounced Sepath-emia. Crownworld Lotus: This means the cradle of fire. Pronounced low-tus. Phaeron Amus: Borrows from the word Amun, which means the king of all gods. Pronounced A-mun. The Deshretic League: Means lower Egypt. Pronounced Des-retic. Patrician Meryrek: Borrowed from Meryre, old kingdom pharaoh. Pronounced Merry-ek Thebek: Butchery of the word Thebes that would host the new capital to show the transition between old and new egypt. Pronounced Thee-beck. Montuel: Butchery of the word Montu, a war god. Pronounced Mon-Tule. Zoser became Phaeron. Afraid to disrupt the peace, he became something of a fill in, lending his ear to the Communion at all times. Sozer: Butherchy or Zoser, old kingdom pharao 3rd dynasty. Pronounced Zoe-Sir. Phaeron Gessor: Butchery of Gesso, which is am mixtured of Paris and glue to be used as a putty. Phaerakh Mayep'at: Butchery of the word Mayet, the Goddess of Turth, order, justice. Pronounced Mayep-at[/i] On the Surface: For sixty million years, the Necrons slumbered. Fresh among the most recent tomb worlds to reawaken have been the Throtheh Dynasty. Still haunted by the humiliation and destruction caused to them by the existence of the Warp, Phaeron Khetmidion the Vindictive seeks to dismantle the Immaterium once and for all. In this they believe that their immortality can superior technology will bring Necron dominance in the galaxy. By destroying or rendering the Warp more dangerous and confusing to navigate than it already is, it will effectively fracture the galaxy at large into independent and stranded sectors, cut off from a network of trade, reinforcements and central governance. In this, the Throtheh have made declared the Eldar their eternal foe due to being spawn of the Old Gods, and their own mastery of the Warp and Warp Gates. By destroying the Eldar and learning its protected secrets, the Throtheh Dynasty believes it can put an end to the Warp. Important to this mission is the world of Cadia where it is documented in Lotus (meaning cradle of the sun, reference to their burning vengeance) that there exists several ancient Pylons found surface side, created by the Necrons 65 millions years ago under the guise of C'tan Nyadra'zath. This mission has put them at odds with the Dark Eldar, who have made the Warp their home to hide from the soul-consuming daemons. The Forces of Chaos who gods exist in the Warp are perhaps insulted by the threat to destroy the dimension that is home to their lords, but perhaps are not convinced this upstart of Necron have the ability to change the Warp. The Throtheh have made some early friends, namely Governors of the Imperium of Man worlds that seek independence. While caring little for the nobility of the world's own self-determination, these worlds offer something of a living example to their vision: worlds that are stranded and self-reliant. The Throtheh have been described as patient. For they are immortal, time is of no consequence. By mastering the Dolmen Gates and for when the Warp is forever sealed shut to mortals, the galaxy will become fractured. Travel time will make sector-travel the only reliable means of trade. Distant trade, reinforcement and central governance will be made impossible. As the galaxy fractures, the Sautekh Dynasty led by Imotekh the Stormlord the heir apparent of the Necron race, will have no trouble conquering the stars beyond. And in this, the Throtheh can find favor. Among the newly awaken tomb worlds is Lotus, home to the Throtheh Dynasty. To other races, time seemed to be their great undoing. The Emperor of the Imperium of Man's decaying corpse requires more souls of psykers to maintain his weening strength. Hive Fleet Levthiathin consumes the eastern fringes of space, turning worlds barren in its wake, its insatiable appetite finding no rest. But to the Throtheh Dynasty, it is time that is perhaps the greatest and under utilized weapon in the galaxy. Greater even than the Nephrekh’s arsenal of ancient planet-ending weapons. Greater even than the Celestial Orrey maintained by the Oruscar Dynasty that has the ability to snuff out any star at a moment’s choice. Despite the great potential of time, it has been effectively cheated by the Warp, allowing near instantaneous travel from corners of deep space to the next. By destroying the Warp, time will climb its way back onto the mantle, allowing the immortal, patient and technologically superior Necron to reclaim their lost empire. History: As follows THE DESHRETIC LEAGUE: Cursed by a diseased star in the Halo System, the Necrontyr were a sickish and short-lived people, dedicating their existence to their impeding deaths and as a product of necessity, creating their cities under the thin veil of protection of the surface above. Driven by a passion to escape the radiation swarms that would envelop their home planet, the Necrontyr created stasis crypts and slow-moving antimatter-powered torch ships to colonize distant systems. Chief among the colonizers would be an opportunistic guild made up of several old patrician families with deep pockets. Individually they lacked the infrastructure and manpower to reach far into the stars. Together though, they would represent a serious power. Merging together into a single guild, they would call themselves the Deshretic League. Over the decades to come, they would have settled the distant star cluster later to be called the Dominion of Storms. Despite their widespread success, they lacked legitimacy and influence in the courts of the Halo Star systems. Condemned as outsider merchants, it seemed that the Desretic League would be doomed to their own systems and meddling. Acting Patrician Meryrek devised a marriage between the Oroskh dynasty and to his 3rd son in exchange for several torch ships. To the League, it was a gamble. The cost was immense for a marriage where there was no certainty in offspring. Patrician Meryrek would attempt to mitigate this by protecting both his son and daughter-in-law to such an extreme, it was just short of putting them both into straight jackets and stuffing them into a padded room. When they were of age, the wedding began. And with it, the first son of several to come. The birth of royalty among the traders. A new dynasty would be born, enriched by wealth and now royal blood: the Throtheh Dyansty. Having fought for their fame by strip mining dozens of worlds and eventually maintaining one of the largest stellar fleets at the disposal of the Necrontyr and now with royal blood in their veins, the Throtheh Dynasty found favor among the old Necrontyr dynasties. TIME OF TROUBLES: Decades of existence had not been so generous to the Throtheh. With the long passing of Phaeron Meryrek, his sons and daughters seemed more interested in dabbling in social events hosted by other families and playing the part of hereditary rulers than actual good stewardship. Old Patrician families still in existence since the founding having felt betrayed, would take advantage of this opportunity. The Communion was formed to represent the Old Families who felt that the blue bloods had put their way of life at risk, and would sponsor one of their own to usurp and marry into a distant dynasty to breed royalty into one of their own: the Thebiks. While Phaeron Amus was away on a pleasure torch ship to travel the stars to visit High Garden, chief among his favorite worlds, the Communion launched its attacks. Shutting down major communication centers, occupying several military ports and crippling outgoing trade. By the time Amus returned, he returned to an alien home system plagued by ongoing civil war among loyalists and Communion rebels. Leading the loyalists was a nemesor disgraced for his unethical tactics of past, Montuel. Whereas the Throtheh had been weakened, they would not be silenced. Over the next nine grueling years, Montuel and Amus attempted to reassert control over the crownworld and her territories. Disaster struck when Amus' flagship was boarded and assaulted. Nearly killed, it would symbolize what the Communion believed was a victory. To Amus who had been holding back, it symbolized that restraint was no longer needed. Montuel was given authority to glass X planet, scorching to dust loyalists and rebels alike in a display of terror. Fighting continued for the next two years, leaving both sides exhausted. Peace was signed. THE ANTICIPATED PEACE: Exhausted and wracked by lingering pains from his injuries, Amus invited the Communion to fill several important positions of his Royal Court. As his body decayed, he spent most of his hours building his mausoleum rather than keeping the Communion in check. Nemesor Montuel in the meanwhile met an untimely death when his transport ship, descending planetside's heat shields failed, disentrigating the ship on reentry. When Amus passed, his son Zoser became Phaeron. Afraid to disrupt the peace, he became something of a fill in, lending his ear to the Communion at all times. FIRST WARS OF SUCCESSION: Some may have rejoiced over their escape from a toxic, vengeful star, but others found it to have created conditions for a poisonous and destructive war: the Wars of Succession. By now the Throtheh Dynasty had rebuilt itself, mending over its many bruises with plenty of thanks to the Communion. But as war broke out, Gessor found himself stuck in between members of his own family that demanded that the dynasty honors its pledge to unification, where the Communion demanded isolation. Making concessions, Phaeron Gessor agreed to maintain neutrality in the war, while showering prominent members of his family in more wealth and privileges. Ignoring the pleas of Secessionists and those seeking Unification alike, the Throtheh Dynasty became something of a black sheep with cold feelings being felt from both sides. Having lost favor, the Throtheh Dynasty, despite its initial success in colonizing and its fleet, seemed to have lost its purpose. The upstart Dynasty was in decline, and Phaeron Gessor became known as Gessor the Indecisive. The Communion not having forgotten its original mission, used this as an opportune time to sell mercenaries and weaponry to both sides of the war, profiteering from the ongoing conflict and using the fortune to prepare a second coup. THE GREAT PURGE: War came to a sudden stop as the Triarch, led by Szarekh the Silent King, made a declaration of war against the Old Ones, thus beginning the War in Heaven. And with it, a second short war began among the Throtheh: to reclaim their dynasty. With support of the military - some of that support being gained through important financial contributions or favors made possible by Phaeron Gessor's earlier showering of gifts, the conflict was short. But no less brutal. Refusing to engage into a prolonged conflict, Gessor's sister Mayep'at illustrated the Great Purge with help of the military. Prominent members, influenced desk bureaucrats and far removed cousins of the Communion Patrician families were summarily executed. Effectively ending the influences of the merchant families, the Throtheh could no longer be considered a dynasties of merchants. But instead, a dynasty of nobility. Gessor the Indecisive was allowed to continue his reign on the conditions he made Mayep'at his heir, would not father more children and entered the war. The Throtheh Dynasty committed its torch fleets to combat the Old Ones and their allies. Confident in the superior Necrontyr technology, victory was assured. But despite the technological differences and their advantages in weaponry, the Old One's mastery of the Immaterium rendered the Throtheh fleets ineffective. Outmaneuvered, the torch fleets found themselves chasing phantoms that could never be caught. In battles around Old God planets, the torch fleets were routed by fleets that could instantaneously reinforce themselves. The War in Heaven was coming to a brutal conclusion, and the Throtheh were humiliated. SECOND WARS OF SUCCESSION: With the Second Wars of Succession, the Throtheh for a second time withdrew themselves from the politics of their own race and became resentful of all things Warp. It was this hidden dimension that gave the Old Gods all the leverage they needed. It rendered all of the prowess of the Necrontyr to nothing of note. Humiliated by the Old God's mastery of the Warp, the Throtheh attempted to better understand this Warp. Again across the realms of Necrontyr, Dynasties struck out on their own. The Necrontyr likely would have fought among themselves to genocide if not for a new-found alliance with the C'tan, known to some as the Star Gods. Their mission of immortality would be greeted to the Necrontyr, and the C'tan would join them in their great War in Heaven. In time, Phaeron Gessor passed. As promised, Mayep'at became Phaerakh. Her first order of business was to dismantle Gessor's tomb and used its parts to create her very own warship. ![]() REQUIEM FOR THE BURNING GOD: Mayep'at's rule and instilled into her children was that of a burning desire to seek revenge against the Old Ones for the humiliation brought upon them. THE CONDEMNING CHOICE: Inspired by the C'tan alliance, the Silent King promised to defeat the Old Ones once and for all. Phaeron Khetmidion would seek redemption for their Dynastiy's behavior in the past and accepted the request of the Silent King for biotransference. Phaeron Khetmidion, his Royal Court, military and its people would abandon their flesh in the soul-furnaces, forever condemning their beings to a husk of living metal. Thus exit the Necrontyr, and thus born the Necron. With C'tan help and the war exiting Throtheh borders, the Throtheh could once again build their grand fleet of Tomb Ships, sending warriors of its own and other Dynasties through its ships to conquer distant worlds of the Old Gods. Some Dynasties fielded armies of unimaginable raw power. Other Dynasties fielded technologies of horrific potential, able to create black holes to swallow systems whole. Other Dynasties maintained the industry to make it all happen. In that, the Throtheh had purpose among the Necron: to build and maintain the Tomb Fleets. To sail across to distant stars, no matter how long it took, it conquer distant systems. ![]() THE REACH OF THE ELDRITCH FLAMES: As the tendrils of the Old Gods began to decay, the Throtheh were once again cheated by the existence of the Webway, allowing the Old Gods to hide through an unreachable world of existence. It was the C'tan Nyadra'zath, the Burning One, that wanted to reach his eldritch fires into this other world. Creating the living stone portals known as the Dolmen Gates, the Webway was no longer safe from the forces of Necron. And in that, the purpose of the Throtheh Dynasty had finally been defined: by its long reach, patience and total hatred of the Warp. Phaeron Khetmidion and his Royal Court surrendered themselves fully to the C'tan Nyadra'zath and began to penetrate this forbidden territory, ruining the virgin safe haven. Controlled still by the Silent King, this obsession with Nyadra'zath came to an end as the War in Haven came to an end with the declaration of open revolt against the C'tan masters. The Requeim for the Burning God was ended, though some overlords continued to affiliate to a group called the Requiem for the Smoldering God to show their continued faith toward Nyadra'zath. By the conclusion of the war, Tomb worlds created for the Great Sleep and the Command Protocol destroyed, the Throtheh Dynasty would find peace for 65 million years.
