Volcano Island- Redux; Thinking BIG

Sorry, no screenshots this time. I can't see more than about a quarter of the landmass in the Render Window, and ingame the Volcano walls tend to disappear the moment you move out of the dead center of the caldera.

It's not yet LOD'd; that will be the last step after building.

Ran an LOD for the meshes. I'll have to redo them when the base is done, but I needed to get a clearer idea of how much room I have. That speck in the center of the crater is a Boomer added for scale.

I increased the size of the beach area to accommodate a slightly larger village, and added a second island withing swimming distance. That second volcano I'm thinking will be the Doc's "garbage dump"- failed experiments are dumped into the caldera and left to die there, along with radioactive waste and other noxious refuse. No screenshots yet; I get them next time.

Spot where the dormant volcano isn't quite so dormant.

Last update for today; The main building just didn't scream "MAD SCIENCE" enough, so I added a dome.

Also moved a few buildings around and added a big crack in the ground(complete with smoke and flames) at one end of the runway.

Updated files, if you'd like a closer look at a mass of building parts that were never meant to fit together. ;)

Also added in is the "Crack of Doom" at the far east end of the runway. Feel free to throw in any troublesome rings, if you have any.

Going to add a couple more smaller buildings, a warehouse at the west end of the airfield, and then toss some rocks and stray brush around.

Idea: I'm thinking of reskinning some golf carts to army green and scattering a few around. Because it's a big base and you can't expect the brass to walk.

No rush, I've got the other areas to work on in the meantime.

If you want to see it ingame (probably the best way to see the scale of this mess), locations are as follows:

Main Base: coc basecenter01
Village Site: coc village01
Volcano 2: coc devilsgarden01

The second two sites are empty as yet. And just ignore the Boomer in the pimp suit. :P She's just there to help with scale.

Beginning work on the village:

We've got several shacks, a couple of small storage sheds, a pair of bunker entrances to the main facility(The tunnel going in will be blocked off, forcing the player to pick the route we want them on), and a cave entrance off on the far right. It'll be better disguised by the time I'm done.

You can also see the bomb crater near the middle of the village. That speck on the edge is another pimp-suited Boomer.

Plans include a dock, a couple of small boats, and a half sunken barge just off shore. Also some sparse vegetation.

Note: the Evil Tower of Evil is not visible from ground level.

I'm liking it a lot so far.

I'm messing around with it in game, walking around and I like what I see so far, on the old version from day before yesterday. I'll review the newest one tonite.

Updated files to include village. When visiting ingame, there's a couple of spots where the LOD meshes show- the bottom of the crater, and around the cave entrance. Ignore them, that'll be gone when I finish building and redo the LOD. Also some of the village shacks are floating, I'll take care of that soon. Anything else you see that needs changing or you want added in, let me know.
