Anzor Gorchkanov![]() Anzor Andreyevich Gorchkhanov (Korolevan: Анзор Андреевич Горчханов, Kallugan: Анзор Андрійович Горчханов) (c.1988 -) was an Islamist militant leader operating from the Kallugan Republic of Okan-Gashetia. History: Born somewhere in Barksansky, Okan-Gashetia, Anzor Gorchkhanov seemed to have a fairly normal life for a boy in the region until he turned seventeen, when he joined the Kallugan Ground Forces. Eventually becoming a Sergeant in the Kallugan VDV, he left the service sometime around 2009. Various documents show that between 2010 and 2012, Gorchkhanov had applied to the prestigious Karelia State University's law school, but his application was denied. After being admitted to the Karelia Institute of Technology, he dropped out in 2011 due to poor grades and elected to work as a car salesman. After Okan-Gashetia declared independence, the Kallugan military launched a fierce crackdown to suppress any opposition. Apparently motivated by this, Gorchkhanov fell off of the grid, joining Al-Qadissiyyah sometime in early 2012. Resurfacing as a field commander, Gorchkhanov rose through Al-Qadisiyyah's ranks, forming the Shariat Special Operations Group in 2016 after an infamous raid where he and several former Kallugan soldiers torched a Special Security Forces regional headquarters and raided the armory. This incident put him in the sights of the Kallugan and Korolevan intelligence services, who offered a bounty for information leading to his killing or arrest. Recently, he has been personally implicated in numerous terror attacks. Death: No information to report Personal Life: Gorchkhanov had at least one wife, a Chekestani woman that he had met during his early years in Al-Qadissiyyah. After marrying her on Valentine's Day, 2013, they reportedly had a son. Although he was openly a fervent adherent to Islam, some reports stated that he was "irreligious," motivated by an extreme sense of nationalism instead of spirituality. These rumors had put him at odds with several of the more radical members of Al-Qadissiyyah. He preferred to use a PP-19 "Bizon" that he had taken from a deceased Spetsnaz soldier following a failed operation to kill him in 2019. |
