![]() By fire be purged, By will be stricken, By light be smitten, By Heaven, BEGONE! -Incantation of Righteous Extermination General Information Name: Dirgon of Stryf the Hallowed Wood, Son of Thryrgon Nicknames/Titles: Sir Dirgon, Purist, He Who Strides At Dawn Age: 38 Gender Male Race: Estridian Faith: Devout practitioner of the monotheistic faith of the Great Guardian at Dawn Height: 6’4” Weight: 84 kg Occupation: Slayer of vile and impure beings Residence: Vagrant History and Advanced Info Appearance: Large-framed and muscular, Dirgon is an Estridian man whose appearance fully suits the great duty he must undertake. He sports the figure of a weathered warrior. He has tanned olive skin and his long hair and short beard are a stark dyed black, having grayed for a while now. His eyes are sharp brown orbs trained to spot the tiniest hint of vile activity. Dirgon wears a simple and functional piece of chainmail armor and with it, a black vest-like tabard of the Order and a short cloak. Personality: Dirgon is at his core a righteous and honorable man, vowing with all his might to eradicate this world from all evil. In conversation, he tries his best to be polite and soft-spoken, but can be easily provoked into arguments, especially those involving belief and faith. He naturally has an immense hate for anything demonic, vile and impure. Dirgon is notably opposed to excessive violence unless it is to the end of destroying demons and impurities. His faith teaches him love for those who he shares the world with and he is inclined to enact that. Combat/Magic Skills: A Purist of The Order of the Argent Guard at Dawn, Dirgon is a talented and formidable warrior, dauntless and unassailable. His armament of choice is the claymore, its iron double-edge trusty in slaying vile creatures. He is also trained in Holy magics for healing or harm. Relationships: The Order of the Argent Guard at Dawn mandates filial piety and confidentiality. Thus, Dirgon keeps relationships to a down low, especially when it comes to women. He is, after all, married to a fair maiden by name of Angela and has two fair daughters, Hava and Signa. He also has a brother of note, Hirgon, a knight who serves mortal kings rather than the Guardian. The two...don't get along as much as they'd like to. History: Seldom told tales speak of a mighty and benevolent deity, unendingly guarding this world we know and love from unspeakable horrors from the beyond. His followers deem him the Great Guardian At Dawn and do not see him as a deity per se, but rather a cosmic force, barricading between our world and the so-called Evil on the Realm Beyond (just The Evil for short), which tirelessly attempts to pierce through it and scour clean life on Entheria and all other realms. The Great Guardian mostly succeeds in his great undertaking, but sometimes lesser evil seeps through our world and leave destruction in its wake. This is where the Order of the Argent Guard comes in. These zealots carry out the will of the Great Guardian, swearing off their worldly lives to eradicate evil. Though their numbers are paltry, they are as dauntless as their lord and guardian is in their duty. The Order get their ranks through sincere professions of faith and only those with utmost purity of will can hope to be with them. While the Order's long-term goal is obvious (slay evil, obtain prosperity), there is one objective everyone would like to achieve: The Epiphany, a life-changing event when the Great Guardian personally comes to them and awards them with their true name and takes them to his realm, Heaven, to aid in fighting the Evil. And the greatest and most valiant, the closest to the Epiphany among them are deemed Purists. This is the story of one such Purist from the Southern Estridian Lands, Sir Dirgon. Once a peasant of low birth from the Stryf the Hallowed Wood province, Dirgon obtained his warrior bearings when a civil war struck his homeland when he wast just barely reaching the age of 18. Rising to the call to arms, he fought off the belligerents that endangered his home, his valiance in combat becoming a thing of renown. The young man would find himself raising a blade for many different sides over the years, but that way felt...hollow to him. At the time, his only motivation was getting through the day with a full stomach and a full coin purse and nothing else. Dirgon relished a greater purpose. He'd get that soon enough. A fateful day came when a settlement under his guard was invaded by unthinkable monstrosities. Demons, charging in by the dozen. They carved a path of destruction and not even Dirgon and his contingent could stop them. But then, from the horizon, help arrived. In the shape of mysterious men and women atop ivory steeds. Though they were few in numbers, the tide of battle turned instantly and with the help of these 'knights', the demons were pushed back. The aiders introduced themselves as The Argent Guard at Dawn, a secretive order of warrior zealots worshiping the Great Guardian at Dawn. Their aim was to completely rid the world of evil in whatever form. And when Dirgon was offered a place at their ranks, that was when he found his greater purpose. Immediately, he professed faith to the Great Guardian and so the wayward path began. Dutiful and pious, Dirgon proved to be an invaluable member of the Order. He would walk to every corner of the earth to seek out corruption detected by the Argent Seers and snuff them out swiftly. And with them, he himself found camaraderie and brotherhood unlike any other. These zealots were bound in fate and he felt honored to be with them. In it was from their ranks that he found her; the fairest maiden his eyes had ever seen. A Silver Elf healer, by name of Angela. Dirgon was smitten at first sight and after some years of bonding, the two tied the bond of matrimony. In that moment he could've sworn he was the luckiest man on Entheria. Important to note that the All-Encompassing Code of The Order prohibits carnal indulgence and not love and certainly not in any way mandates celibacy. Cut to the present year. Dirgon has grown rather old, the same can't be said about his wife Angela. In the years before, he was appointed as Purist of the Order, basically the same rank as a general or even Kensei. More importantly, he now fathered two daughters, his priceless jewels Hava and Signa. He could very well just be on his way and retire to a life of peace...but the Argent Seers sense darkness coming. A great and terrible evil, plotting catastrophe in the shadows. The Argent Guard at Dawn determined plenty of places in the world where the evil was detected and the Purists were the one given the tremendous undertaking of investigation. Dirgon was one of them, so he parted ways with his family (hopefully not for the last time) and set off to his assigned location: Umibe. |
