Hello FBK League denizens!

Football has officially come and gone, but that means we're a couple months away the 2017 offseason! In the coming month(s), I will be reaching out to our 11th and 12th teams and make sure everyone is on board. I will also be making an intro video to the league for the new members, and while I'm at it I'll make a series of videos explaining the more complex aspects of our league (contract extensions, salary balancing, etc). As a reminder, here are the upcoming big events for the 2017 offseason:

Now - April 30th: ability to franchise tag one player on your team. You cannot franchise tag a player two years in a row. Other limitations will be announced in an small patch in the coming month. Costs to achieve this are as follows: QB (9.5), RB (8.9), WR (11.3), TE (6.4), D/ST (1.8), K (1.4)

May 1st: All waiver contracts from 2016 that were not franchise tagged are dropped from team rosters.

June 1st: Contract extensions can now be made for players with 0 or 1 year left on their contract.

July 1st: All players with 0 years left on their contract that were not extended in June officially become free agents.

Mid-July: Free Agency auction is held.

2017 Contract Extensions

You want to re-sign some players on your team that have 0 years left on their contract and are pending free agents, but how much is it going to cost you to give them a new contract? As I've mentioned before, NFL players make the money that teams think they're worth - big name players sign big contracts because they're viewed as the best. To create a sense of what our league views as the best players for dynasty fantasy football, we've made a contract extension value committee which ranks players from the top down. The average rank determines what a player wants to be paid (the #1 WR wants to be paid as high or higher than the highest salary for WRs, the #10 WR wants to be paid as high or higher the the 10th highest salary for WRs...etc).

The committee has finished their initial rankings, which means you can get an idea of what your players will want. This is merely an estimate, as the actual numbers won't be finalized until the NFL free agency and rookie draft has occurred. Expect finalized numbers in the month of May, and expect the rankings (and potentially contract values) to change.

Click here to go to the FBK Shadynasty Spreadsheet (2017 Contract Extensions tab) and get a sense for what your players will want to be paid!

Think these values and rankings are total bullshit? Think the committee is full of morons? You can set it straight! Contact a Commissioner and participate in the committee by giving your own (strictly unbiased) rankings to help determine the average values of players!

That's all for now, get excited for the NFL draft and we'll see you in May.
