0400 Hours 04/6/007/3 New Eden's Cross Station New Eden, HAF held territory in the eastern CSE Union area ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------- The smoke of the charged exhaust added to the already persistent smog of New Eden. The air was choking n a way, smelling strongly of ozone, those not attuned to it would find the concentrations of Aether in the air to be irritating to the extreme, as teh ozone burned their lungs (Aether pollution as some would call it). the urge to cough would rise in many people. The Train station was in the dead center of town, using large rotating plates to orient the trains on the directions and tracks needed for their destinations. The dark of the night was broken by the bright artificial lights that cut through the gloom, glinting off the black metal flooring. The sounds of airships low over head gave off their very unique whine, signaling their nature as belonging to harbinger's air security teams. all in all even from a distance, at night the lights could be seen from miles around, earning much disdain from the locals. New eden itself was established smack dab in the middle of land disputed by two city states. Both claimed the land, but never made a move on it fear reprisal from the other. when harbinger moved in they lacked the force or ability to challenge them. And so new eden spawned from the ground like an artificial tumor, it's massive unnatural towers dwarfing the forests and nature around them. And so this is where it begins. "Hey, i hope you weren't waiting long..." called a voice. his two ghostly green eyes shined out of the gloom long before his face was visible. The eyes were unnerving, as if they were looking through you. Extremely long blonde hair and a face that could only be described as pretty were revealed by a passing searchlight. The man stood at 6'2 and had a compact build. He had a huge blade slung across his back that simply looked comical, but he bore the uniform of a SCION First Class, and the rifle slung across his shoulder was all business. He was a member of the elite of the Elite. "Hey there, you seem kinda uptight, i had some trouble getting my bike on board. The name is SFC Nibel, but you can call me Blitz." he had a good natured smile, even in the face of the naturally terrifying aura that Dark Knights exuded by virtue of being. "You are the merc i was supposed to be meeting right...?" |

Cimi paced impatiently back and forth along the train, while this was not her first time standing along side one she never had a chance to examine one up close and she did her rounds inspecting for anything she perceived to be out of place. The job was some high class security detail but even this was much more than she would have normally been allowed to participate it. She thought it might have been due to her past performance and her reliability but the one thing that was quite odd about this was her partner for this specific security detail. a SCION. Cimi had only heard rumors about them and have never met one in person though if any of the rumors were to be believed they were formidable fighters and infused with harbingers aether technology. Cimi turned sharply as she heard the sound of heavy combat boots approaching. the artificial lights played hell with her keen night vision. what she could make out from the newcomer was a very tall Hume male with blond hair and glowing eyes. Cimi snapped to attention, balled her fist and snapped it up to her chest in the typical harbinger salute. "good morning ser" Cimi dropped her salute and went to a normal stance. "My name is Cimi Nbolo, Veteran Dark Knight at your service. I look forward to working with you." She was confused slightly at his remark at calling her uptight, but then again she expected some high ranking officer so she was doing her best as to not give a bad impression of herself or her order. "and i do believe i am. from what i understand we are on a dual assignment here, protect harbinger property untill we reach he next station and assume new orders from the commander once we are there." Cimi took the time to eye her new companion up and down, He didn't seem to really fit the rumors that surrounded the SCIONS but if that slab of steel on his back was any indication of his strength then she knew at least part of the stories were true. "Im, ready to go when ever you are ser. my pack is already on board and i have made an external check of the train already." |

Blitz snapped to a salute shockingly fast. his entire demeanor changed to a more businesslike personality. his eyes hardened and there was a bit of pride in them as he saluted before returning to a more neutral stance. The guy laughed lightly. "Ah, so you are a woman, with the armor and the..." he made a gesture over his face mimicking a helmet or a mask. "I couldn't tell, Good to know." with a charming smile he looked around. the train was a veritable fortress, with guns and cannons built on it, there were emplacements for defensive weapons in the case of an attack, and even a quad gun on the last car, capable of firing on aerial targets. "I'm pretty sure they're prepared for an attack, however an actual attack would be surprising. after the last campaign the Unionists wouldn't dare be so bold..." he looked away from her trailing off for a second. "A veteran knight huh? Yeah i've heard a bunch of things about your kind, however you seem strangely equipped. Don't your kind usually don a blade and shield, or a scythe?" he asked her a bit quizzically. "To be honest if you are loyal to a paycheck then we'll be fine." he was sizing her up, it was hard though, the mask made it impossible to read her emotions. With a nod he agreed. "This air is a bit cold, and i'm not sure if you've acclimated to the Aether. Lets get inside we can talk more there." he said and with a nod two gunners who stood at the doors straightened up rifles held tightly. the Scion and the dark knight were already getting the grunts whispering. "Alright so to go over the train layout. In the middle cars we have the civilian transport. passengers, people being relocated, new assignments. If something happens we are to see to their safety as best we can. At the Front of the train we have Something from the recovery teams. Basically i'm not even allowed to admit, that i don't know that i do know that there is anything in there, other than it needs to be protected. those objects are of the highest value, and although life is important, the cargo is more so. We have belt fed guns and heavy ordinance ready for repelling attackers. Do you have any proficency with firearms?" he asked her seriously. |

"its fine, its understanable you would not be able to tell my gender underneath field plate." the armor she wore was actually something she recieved from working with harbenger. the magitech suit somewhat augmented her physical stregnth, something she always felt that she lacked. "also im loyal to much more than a paycheck, if i was loyal to just a paycheck i would not be very trustworthy. ive given harbinger my oath of service for this job. tis not something we hand out lightly. As for my equipment I im much more proficient with a single blade than i am with a slab of steel. As for scythes... not very effective weapons to use in close quarters as you could most likley geuss." Cimi was understanding and appricated this man valued civilian life over classified military tech. "understood, civilians take priority. on the question for firearms, no im not proficient with them. i do know how to use them but im afraid to say im more adept at throwing rocks than shooting." cimi turned to walk towards the train with Blitz. "you would also be correct i cant say im a fan of this air, its almost choking. i origional come from one of city states deep within the forrest that borders the current wasteland leading to the earth crystal temple. so im used to breathing much fresher air than this. of course i mean no offence. its just a preference." "regardless, i was always taught to be very respectful towards women, you know just a habit." he said with a small chuckle. "I am unfamiliar with the dark knights. the stories tlak about you guys like you're some kind of super scary murderer, and while there is an aura of... malice around you, you do not speak like some kind of marauding butcher." "Alright just in case it needs to happen, im not going yo worry about teaching you marksmanship but... he pulled one of the belt fed guns up. The weapons were already set to feed, "This is a stationary gun. basically pull this trigger here and hold it no more than three seconds at a time in the direction of an enemy. I dont expect you to be good, but we might need the extra fire if shit decides to go south." he then pointed to the window itself. "alright so the lever here opens the firing slit. just in case you need to know." he nodded to her. "Yeah no the Aether Pollution can be rough on people at first. How long were you in New Eden anyway?" he asked her with a quizzical look. |

Cimi simply nodded at his remark about being a marauding butcher. "we weild fear as a weapon itself, sometimes only the pressense of a dark knight is needed to disuade agressive action. that pressense you feel is as you said. an aura of malice it can cause foes to falter leaving them open to attack. In the end though we are still knights and we do have a code of honor, if you ever wonder why you never have heard of a rogue dark knight its because we deal with those who betray our code...harshly..." cimi let her words sink in. she made the issue sound a bit more serious than it actually was but it was to reinforce her point. Neither her nor anyone she shared her title were to be trifled with and to let her current team mate could rely on her to do her job effectively. she turned her attention to the weapons blitz was showcasing. she fiddled around with the firing port lever and checked the weapons to confirm she was doing everything correct. "i understand, simple enough. i wish to speak with you about something, i know we should probably not speak of this openly but this matter concerns me." cimi scanned around to make sure no one was around. " do you not find it odd there are only two of us assigned to this detail, i would never question the militaries leadership in this but something does not feel right. call it what you will but we have not only a mass of personnel most of them civilians but also the "cargo." cimi kept it vague intentionally to throw off any possible eaves droppers but was interrupted by a shrill whistle. "seems we might have to continue this later, do we want to stick together or work sepratley. i assume you have a linkshell?" Edited by wiggins96, Feb 15 2016, 10:28 PM.

well, he have about a platoon assigned here for basic defense, but you are right, its barely enough to cover all the guns. let alone have the manpower to counterattack. I didn't think much of it during the assignment breif, because First Class SCIONS are foten deployed either solo or in very small groups. During the Imperial wear i always served with a squad of Assaultmen. I assumed thats what would be happening here but these guys." he motioned to the men in black uniforms without nameplates. "i think there is more going on than we know." he nodded to her. "yeah i have a linkshell. Personally i prefer teamwork, but i have handled many missions solo. whatever you prefer to do i can compensate." he nodded as the guards began to instruct the passengers to remain seated. 'Good morning everyone, and thank you for taking the 0400 train out of New Eden. we will be moving towards the western lands to our next base out in the more arid lands. First stop will be at New Gilead, at 0900. chow will be served at 0600. thank you for your attention citizens, and please remain in your seats." |

"I normally do work by myself but my aura does not seem to be bothering you, tho i do recommend we avoid the cars with the civilians. id rather not make any of the crew uneasy. so ifs not an issue for you then we can patrol together." Cimi didn't mind the company at all and it was rare for her to work with someone due to the unease her aura caused. Cimi peeled off her helmet and placed it on the turret beside her as she felt the train lurch forward. "so we have a few hours, whats your story? i know your a SCION but ive only heard rumors. I personally arrived via airship yesterday and stayed the night. Ive just came back off of a vacation." after cimi took off her helmet it became pretty obvious what her race was, the dark haired miqo'te leaned up against a bulkhead waiting for the SCIONs responce. |

Blitz nodded. "Yeah i just came off of a deployment in the Monastaries myself. Would go days without seeing anyone else." he sighed, he hadn't had much time to talk to anyone. Blitz's eyes widened in response as his eyes met her's for the first time. "uh... okay... wow..." the guys caught his breath for a moment. "I'm sorry just give me a minute, i didn't expect you to be so..." he took a moment to search for the right word. "...beautiful." he then nodded, leaving the compliment where it was. "My story? Well i was born to a pair of managers in Magitek R&D, i was originally slated for engineering when i showed a lot of physical aptitude in my earlier years. I was put on the track for the military and they were originally going to induct me into Intelligence, however i showed aptitude for aether and they moved me over to SCION induction. Before they start doing the augments they give you some of the strictest training imanigable. 60% of inductees wash out and end up in other branches of service. I survived, got the enhancements, and moved on. After that i served during the imperial war, where we bailed most of the other nations out of imperial rule. Of course they'll never admit it. I used to be a part of the boarding teams, one Scion third class per military squad. Second classes were assigned to platoon command elements, and a single first class would run with a company. Either way i served and made it to second class. Then received my promotion to second class when a war erupted during relief and research operations turned sour. apparently people near the dust veil didn't want harbinger help. Otherwise as a first class i've been around to put down land disputes and guerrilla forces officially disavowed by their parent states. And now they have me acting as a "free agent mercenary" in order to get more information on the partisans." He said it without much emotion, as if just reciting a story. "So yeah, thats really my story. So i have to ask, what's yours? You dont see many of your kind in the Dark Knights. i've been lead to believe they were primarily hume." |

Cimi squinted at him "ok, you get credit for being to first to say that to my face while i have my aura up. but keep focused we are on duty and we have a job to do..." She was not sure how to take this guy, strange one that's for sure. but listened intently to his story. "My path to become a dark knight, well its a long story but i ended up getting saved by one as a young girl. I Actually lived near the dust bowl when the dust vail became what it is today. it completely destroyed the village i lived in. but id rather not go to far into that side of the story. In the end the only person who showed up to the village was a lone dark knight and well i kinda just followed him. there was nothing left for me back in my home. Eventually as i became i eventually joined the dark knight monastery and passed my training. And thats very astute of you, you would be correct that there are not many of my kind in the order. we as a species lack much of the raw physical strength that one requires to have mobility in heavy armor and swing a sword around. Ive however adapted my own way of employing our techniques and its why i use a single sword rather than a sword and shield or scythe." She drew her sword and handed the ebony steel blade pommel first to the SCION. "Its a combination of mythril and steel" The blade itself was unadorned, but was oddly shaped. it was long and slender but clearly has an edge unlike a rapier or an epee. it was a very unique style of blade and the hilt had room for two hands to hold it. it looked like someone had the idea to make a basterd sword thin. "its a custom blade i had done, light but has enough weight to make slashing and hacking effective while remaining thin enough to pierce plate armor. it has a steel core with mythril forged over top of it." Cimi crossed her arms and lent back up against the wall again, the air started to clear a bit as they left the boundary of the city. |
