Ross's Sanctuary

Chief Engineer Erica Ross

Lt. Cdr.- Tactical
Erica Ross’s crew quarter is her sanctuary. Its hers, all hers, with no one getting in Erica’s way.

After Lt. Cdr. Ross’s shift down in engineering ended, all she could think about on the walk to her quarters was to take a long shower, and sleep till the next shift. The doors slid open, and Ross stepped into her “home.” It was furnished like the standard Starfleet quarters. It had no personal touch, that wasn’t who Erica Ross was. It was e empty of personal stuff, except for a box with cassettes and a player. Suddenly hit with a wave of sadness, Erica plopped done on the bed with the box. She flipped through the tapes, reading the star dates and pulled out one. Sticking it into the player , she settled back and listened:

“Hey sweetie, its your mom here. Hope you haven’t forgotten the sound of my voice- I know its been a long time since we spoke and I miss our conversations. The U.S.S. Einstein is going to be docking at Deep Space 4 in a few days, and I’m going to be finishing up on my most recent assignment. Can’t say much about it, the assignment is very hush-hush. Luckly, I should be done before graduation!! Can’t wait to see you become an ensign! Well, I got to go, duty calls. I love you with all my heart and can’t wait to see you soon. Remember Erica, even though I’m light years away, I’m so proud of you.”

The tears that never left Erica’s eyes began to flow steadily done her cheek. Her hand brushed away the tear drops and then reached into the box again.
