As I return to our side of the fire, Wild Dog looks up and calls me over. "Come check these out!" he says loudly, but not so loud as to attract the attention of animals. I stride towards the other members of Carnivora, and see that Black Ice has already grabbed the largest, sharpest, clearest piece of obsidian. "Where did you find these?" I ask, already planning to make camp where the obsidian deposit is and starting to work out the logistics in my mind. "They're all over the place! I only walked about 50 feet into the forest and found all these! I think I also saw some cane reed near a stream farther into the forest." Wild Dog says, excitement evident in his voice. He looks at me expectantly, questioning my judgement even before I speak, purely by the contemplative expression gracing my features. I brush the hair out of my eyes and say "That's fantastic! We have some basic tools from bamboo already! We just have to be careful not to use up all the obsidian right away. We need to make it last. Did you see any good areas to camp?"

"I was thinking about the cane reed clearing by the stream I saw. We can use your machete and Wyvax's boot knife to clear the cane reed for tools, and use the empty space to sleep on." he says. I reply with a sigh and reservation pervades my speech. "I like your plan, but honestly I don't know if I have it in me. It took all my strength to fish out all these people." I turn towards Adamantus, "And your sorry ass owes me an apology. Did you have to wear such a heavy coat? It took forever to get back to shore in those mountains of outerwear." He looked down abashedly, and replied "I told you, I don't like the cold..." We all laugh and I turn back to Wild Dog. "Did you see anywhere more temporary? I really don't feel like clearing bamboo tonight." He replies "Not really, but I don't have a problem staying on the beach tonight." Black Ice, Superpredator, and Wyvax nod in agreement, and I reluctantly agree. "Give me a moment to address the masses." I say sarcastically. Smiles are provoked among my friends as I stand and face the groups of people. From what I can see, most don't share our good humour, and a few people look at me dejectedly. I raise my voice and address the crowd. "Hey, everybody. We made an executive decision to stay here tonight, so it'll be easier on the injured and tired. We'll need to organize watches to keep the fires going and alert us if any animals come close in the night. So, people from each group will take turns throughout the night. Sound good?"

Nods and mumbled agreements sweep the crowd, who are obviously pleased they don't have to move. I nod and return to Carnivora's fire. "So who has first watch?" Vodmeister asks, with an edge to his voice clearly insinuating he doesn't want it to be him. "I'll take it." Theropod says. "I didn't do much to help earlier. I'll pull my weight." Gratefully I look him in the eye and say "Are you sure? You got hit harder than most." "Yeah," he says, nodding. "I'm sure." Vodmeister sighs and says "Good. Let's sleep and discuss things in the morning." We fall asleeep to the rythmic crashing of the waves and the sharp clacks of Theropod skillfully beginning to work the obsidian shards into tools.
