![]() Like many athletes, Radionova feels that the obstacles she had to go through eventually make her stronger. “(Those) who have a strong character can overcome everything,” she commented. “(Those) who don’t have a strong frame of mind will not be a champion. Everybody has injuries, is growing, changing, has to adapt. Who can overcome all that will be on the top. I never give up and I am not desperate. I just need to move forward.” ![]() Obviously, Radionova’s biggest goal is to make the Olympic team, but she knows how tough the competition is. “The Olympic Games are the biggest competition in an athlete’s career,” the two-time European silver medalist noted. “Everyone wants to perform there. In order to make the team, you have to be consistent, and to improve in everything – skating skills, spins. I know how I can skate and I have to work very hard.” Edited by ThirdTerm, Aug 14 2017, 08:34 PM.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=s4IZHXdxZcg Meanwhile, Radionova fully adapted and feels comfortable in the new training group with a new coaching team. "The training process has changed a bit, but I will not say that drastically. I really like the contact that we have established with Elena Germanovna, the work is going well, and we will wait for the control of rentals. " Now Radionova Sotskova and Mary, one of its direct competitors, are engaged in a coach, but they do not train together. Coaches decided to separate them. "We have different training and each time focused on yourself. Elena Germanovna knows what's best for me, and I trust her completely. I do not look at anyone else, I only focus on my work. On the ice, I can only see myself. " "While I do not want to reveal all the secrets. As for the free program, I took a style that had never before tasted. We decided to show me in a new role. It will be interesting to the audience. This is a very emotional program. I like her very much. When we chose the music and Shae-Linn Burn set program, everything went as it should, it all came to mind - and coaches, and choreographer, and to me the most. " https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=EQsqtAKKSTY Despite the fact that last season Radionova managed to win two gold medals (Universiade and stage Grand Prix in China), it is not entirely satisfied with the results. "There were good results, but I'm used to always give out the maximum for me even one mistake means that the rent was not very good. I always need to ride at 100%. " It was a difficult year for Radionova that struggled all season with injuries and growing pains that affect her skating. "I had to get used to my new body and to heal injuries," - she said. "I have grown quite a bit, but every change affects the technique, so you need to get used to it. Feelings vary on ice - so yesterday, and tomorrow is different. You need to adapt in order to control your body. But the most important thing - it is to believe in yourself and never give up, and it's all there in my nature. " ![]() Like many athletes, Radionova believes that the obstacles she had to overcome, eventually made her stronger. "He who has a strong character can overcome all. And those who do not have the rod, can not become a champion. We all have an injury, the period of growth, it is necessary to adapt to this. Who will be able to overcome all of this, he will be at the top. I never give up and do not despair. I just need to move forward. I know how I can skate, and has to work very hard. " Radionova believes that the support of her parents, especially the mother, helps her. "She knows me everything. She was always there when I need support, and always pushing when I need it. It's no secret that in Japan, figure skating is a special relationship. This sport is as popular here as the national kind of Sumo wrestling. Recently, local fans have a new idol - two-time world champion Evgeny Medvedev. "Lenta.ru" found out how a young Russian woman became a favorite of the Land of the Rising Sun.![]() A year has passed since the Olympics in Sochi. One of the stars of those Games was fifteen-year-old figure skater Yulia Lipnitskaya. Among those who could not resist the charm of the young Muscovite, were the Japanese, vying with each other discussing the image of the "girl in a red coat". Although they had their own hero - Yuzuru Khanu, who won a gold medal in singles men's skating. Surprisingly, even the failure of Yulia in individual competitions did not confuse the Japanese public, who fell in love with Eteri Tutberidze's ward from the bottom of her heart. Time passed, and the admiration for Lipnitsky from Japanese fans was rapidly melting. At the start of the season 2015/2016 during her rentals on their faces read more disappointment - after all in a year with little from a small gifted girl in the sports plan there was almost nothing left. In October 2015 in Milwaukee at the Grand Prix of the United States on the stage came another pupil of the Russian coach - 14-year-old Evgeny Medvedev, who won among others and the Olympic champion. In a couple of years Zhenya has grown into a world-class star, confirming her high status with victories at the two Grand Prix finals, two European championships and two world championships. The American audience did not immediately, but appreciated the skill of Medvedev, but the Japanese fans fell in love with her at first sight, forgetting about the former idol. After Zhenya rolled back the free program, Alexander Grishin, Tatyana Tarasova's permanent partner in airtime work, noted that the audience who witnessed this performance was "the happiest of mortals". A bold statement at that time, but he was not mistaken! ![]() The victory in the US was followed by the silver of the Russian Grand Prix stage, which allowed Zhenya to be selected to the final of the tournament. Few people assumed at that moment that the frail-looking Muscovite hides the iron lady of female figure skating, the champion with iron nerves. The gold medal of the Russian championship, the victory in Barcelona in the Grand Prix final, the triumph at the continental championship in Bratislava, the crowning of the debut season among adults, was a victory with a new world record in the free program (150.10 points) at the World Championships in Boston. Stability, patience, diligence, talent - Medvedev combines all these qualities. In her first "adult" season she bypassed more experienced competitors and left them far behind. Inspired by the Japanese at the end of the season invited Medvedev to one of the many television shows. Local residents fell in love with Eugene not only because of the magnificent skating, but also because of the kavain appearance: the young Russian woman looks exactly like the heroine of anime. The Russian figure skater was able to really surprise the Japanese public by choosing the image of the heroine of the popular Japanese anime "Sailor Moon". "I knew that there will be a lot of joy, but so much!" - laughed Medvedev, remembering the delight of the audience of the Dreams On Ice show. Later Evgenia admitted that she was very fond of anime, and she told a short verse in Japanese. This method was among the banned: a miniature Russian woman finally and irrevocably conquered the Japanese. A lot of gifts with anime themes, a meeting with the creator of "Sailor Moon" Naoko Takeuchi, dozens of shows devoted to Medvedev, and this was just the beginning of "Medvedev's fever". The new season for the Russian began with a trip to the open championship of Japan, where Evgenia confidently took the gold. During her speech, it seemed that the competition was not in Japan, but in Russia. Local fans enthusiastically welcomed the darling, waving Russian flags. ![]() Then came the second stage of the Grand Prix, this time in Canada, where Medvedev again won the gold medal. The fourth stage of the Grand Prix in France - Eugene again the best. Final Grand Prix, Russian Championship, European Championships - Medvedev collected the scalps of rivals, and Japan rejoiced with it. At the Russian Championship, Evgeniya performed three triple jumps for the first time, clearly demonstrating her superiority over her rivals. At the European Championships, the Russian woman set two new world records - for an arbitrary program and for the sum of points. At the end of March, the World Cup kicked off, where Medvedev received 154.40 points for an arbitrary program and 233.41 extra-high points for the sum, again updating her personal and world record. And already at the end of April she returned to her beloved Japan - to the team world championship. And although then the Russian team was only the second, Eugene set three new world records! But this did not end the gifts of Medvedev in love with her country. On the third day of the demonstration performances, the sportswoman again appeared on the ice in the Sailor Moon costume and delighted the audience with a stunning rental. Since the beginning of the summer, Medvedev several times visited Japan: she took part in a television show, in the ice show Fantasy On Ice and Dreams on Ice. At the same time, she performed three triple jumps several times in each performance, bringing the Japanese audience into ecstasy. When the figure skater once again visited the Land of the Rising Sun this summer, a crowd of fans greeted her at the airport. Zhenya confessed that in Japan she is recognized, wherever she went, but in the local culture it is accepted to respect the personal space of a person, therefore, despite the highest degree of adoring, no one else can afford. |

![]() I do not consider myself a child, but I have not yet become an adult, "says Zhenya. "While I'm swimming somewhere on the border." Yes, I have adult affairs for which I am responsible. I consider it normal to be responsible for actions. But from time to time the temperament gives me a child. " Zhenya speaks confidently, calmly. He knows his own worth. She loves when she is listened to, and she is attentive to her interlocutor. Unless the tenderness of a child's voice reveals that she is 17. They say that she is now in transition. This is confirmed by both mother and grandmother. I do not know, I did not notice. With me spoke a charming girl with no problems and complexes, fascinated by beauty. Here it is combed, painted for a photo session. Zhenya is ecstatic, constantly smiling. All emotions are read on her face, even through the hands of stylists and a cloud of lacquer. ![]() According to the sports classification, Zhenya is already an adult. Honored Master of Sports of Russia. This is the highest sporting title in the country, and after all, Medvedev did not finish school yet. Almost all the time the girl spends on ice. She has an hour from the morning to wake up, put herself in order and go to training, which starts at ten in the morning, and ends at seven in the evening. And so every day, except for Monday, which Zhenya devotes lessons. She studies at the school "Sambo-70" according to the individual plan. By the way, this summer is waiting for the USE. This rhythm of life athlete fully satisfied. Habit. "Do not think, I had a childhood, too. There were friends, games in a bouncer, a little girl, little doggies. Only not on the playground in the yard, but in the gym between training sessions. " Yes, now she has to sacrifice time for friends and personal. ![]() The first fighting champion skates EDEA Evgeniya stores houses under the glass. Immediately next to the girl's room on the open shelves of white cabinets to the ceiling are toys and an endless number of other plush gifts from fans. The room is small and bright. I'm sure Zhenya arranged everything in it herself. This is also read in the fact that Zhenya does not let anyone into his house. And here's another picture. Stadium "Hartwall-Arena" in Helsinki. Tribunes in the tense silence. On ice, the 17-year-old Russian rolls an arbitrary program to the music of the Frenchman Alexander Desplat, with each step leaving opponents farther and farther behind. The hall does not breathe until the last seconds of her dance. And - the roar of applause. Evgeniya Medvedev for the second year in a row becomes the world champion, at the same time having updated several world records. "I love to go out on the ice, speak to the public. This is what I like most in life, - says Zhenya. It is felt that she has already become accustomed to being the center of attention. - I understand perfectly well that I'm watching millions of eyes in the arena and watching me. Panic does not visit me. Before the competition and during the rental, I seem to withdraw into myself and sometimes I do not even notice when someone talks to me. " ![]() "If you want to ride, be patient. If you want to win, be patient. Pain from trauma - bear it, "is the philosophy of the mother of the champion, Jeanne Medvedeva. Jeanne recalls that in the early years, Eugene was very weak. Doctors talked about tempering, advised to give the child for swimming or figure skating. Jeanne chose the second, because she herself was a skater in the past, but a hand injury forced her to end an athletic career early. But now she could give advice to her daughter. This was very useful at the initial stage of preparation of the future champion. "A child does not think about the future," Zhenya notes. - Children want to play with their peers. The fact that I will be engaged in figure skating all my life, I understood about 10-11 years, after I moved to Eteri Georgievna. " Meeting with the deserved trainer of Russia, Eteri Tutberidze, became a fateful athlete. They spend so much time side by side, that they practically became relatives. "We have been together for 10 years, we know and feel each other well. Tutberidze saw how I grew up, in fact, it was she who brought me up. Even character traits and habits were passed on from her, "Zhenya frankly admits, without fear of offending her mother, who has reconciled with this long ago. - We communicate as close friends, the coach gives me good advice not only about the sport. " Having run your eyes through the stands of the Finnish stadium "Hartwall Arena", you involuntarily catch yourself thinking that you are ... in Asia. The overwhelming majority of the spectators are tourists from China, Korea and Japan. Every second comment in Instagram Medvedev (@jmedvedevaj) is written in Japanese. In the Land of the Rising Sun, she is affectionately called Medo-chan. And the sportswoman reciprocates. She grew up on the cartoons of Hayao Miyazaki, knows by heart and sings in karaoke songs from the series "Sailor Moon." In her playlist, mostly Asian music: "I listen to soundtracks from Japanese films. I like the language. And I love the Korean K-pop, the fan of the EXO group. " ![]() This winter, Forbes included Medvedev in the list of the 30 most successful young people in Europe (along with her there were actors Dev Patel, Sophie Turner, Olivia Cook). Of all the mentioned, she is the youngest. Will it be long in the big sport? Forecasts are a thankless task. Zhenya is determined to fight in at least two Olympic cycles. Going out on the ice, she always repeats the advice that the coach gave her: "If it's hard for you, then you are doing everything right. We need to get up and move on. " |

What are you currently inspired by? “I’m inspired by the opportunities and memories I have through skating. Getting to travel to countries all over the world for competitions, where I represent Team USA, is always incredible. It’s something few get to experience, so for me to travel the world for my sport is something I’m immensely grateful for and proud of. I meet so many new people and make friends with skaters and athletes from all over the world, and it’s so cool to connect and relate with them. Being a part of this athletic community inspires me to keep working hard and continue to compete at the highest level.” Tell us more about how you first got started in Figure Skating. “My mom is a figure skating coach, so she would take me to the ice rink as a baby while she taught and my older brother skated. One day when I was 19 months old I took my brother’s skates and put them on at home, and my mom saw that and decided it was time to put me on the ice. I took my first steps on ice at 19 months old and essentially never stopped.” Take us through a day in the life of Polina Edmunds. “As a full time student at Santa Clara University and an elite athlete, my schedule is usually pretty busy. On a typical weekday, I wake up at 7:30am and go to my classes from 8:00am – 11:30am. I then grab a quick lunch and head to the ice rink to train. I’m on ice from 1:45-2:45pm, and then I have an off ice core/yoga/Pilates class for strength and flexibility from 3:00-4:00pm. I get back on the ice for another session from 5:15-6:15pm, and then head back to my college dorms. I’ll go get dinner with my friends and roommates and then do homework and hang-out for a little bit before sleeping.” ![]() What is your regular training regimen like? “On ice I do a lot of repetition — jumping, spinning, practicing skating skills, and running my programs over and over again. Off ice workouts are just as important, and I have several different ones. I have my stretching classes where I do a lot of core/Pilates/yoga work, and then I have my track conditioning classes where I do a lot of running and jumping exercises for cardio and strength, and I have ballet classes to keep up my elegance and dance movements on the ice.” Favorite healthy snack? “I love sliced apples, bananas, and nuts.” What did you enjoy most about competing at the 2014 Winter Olympics in Sochi? “My favorite thing about competing at the 2014 Winter Olympics in Sochi was staying in the Olympic Village with athletes from all over the world. There is such a sense of family and camaraderie between all the athletes in the village, and I felt so much respect from and for everyone, no matter what country we represented or what age we were. To be a part of that was just so magical. I also loved performing in the Olympic Arena, because with all the media and cameras there and the filled arena I just felt so excited (and of course nervous, but that’s normal) to show what I could do to the world . It felt so validating for all the years of hard work I put into the sport, and performing under the rings knowing the whole world was watching was absolutely insane and wondrous to me.” ![]() What advice can you offer to an aspiring Olympian? “My advice to any athlete shooting for the Olympics is to work hard and focus on your own success and progress. Instead of comparing yourself to your peers and competitors when you’re learning and coming up in your sport, you should concentrate solely on what YOU are doing, because it’s the ultimate end goal that matters, not the little bumps in the road throughout the years.” What do you believe is the most difficult aspect of figure skating? “I think the most difficult aspect of skating is making it look easy. People love to watch how graceful and musical the sport is, but don’t fully realize how much strength and conditioning goes into making it look that way. We train on and off ice for multiple hours every day — all to make a 4 minute program look beautiful and effortless to the audience and judges. The work that goes into that is extremely difficult, but also what makes the sport so appealing to watch.” Name one luxury you cannot live without. “A luxury I can’t live without is my car! I have a 2016 328i White BMW, with red leather seats inside so it’s super stylish and fun to drive! I bought it myself last year with money I earned throughout the years from skating competitions, so my car has a lot of sentimental value to me in regards of my skating career and the work I put in throughout my childhood.”

Elena Radionova - the only figure skater, who over the past two years managed to beat Yevgeny Medvedev. It happened at the Russian Grand Prix in November 2015. On the eve of the start of the Olympic season Elena gave an interview to our correspondent.![]() "10 DAYS ON THE MALDIVES - THAT IS NECESSARY" - How did you spend your vacation? - the first question Radionova. - I spent 10 days in the Maldives. Not so much, but I managed to rest and gain strength. That was it. The rest turned out to be quite calm first of all for my head, because the Moscow vanity is exhausting, and in the Maldives I managed to stay alone with myself. At the same time, I did not run the sport during the rest, it maintained its physical form. "Did you manage to eat anything forbidden on vacation?" Sweets, for example. - I was lucky: on vacation there were no particularly harmful delicacies. There were a lot of fruits, mostly they fed me. - Are there many temptations surrounding you outside the ice? Why is it hardest to resist? - Of course, there are temptations, temptations are everywhere, but in general athletes are very disciplined people, so if there is a goal before you, then all temptations go to the background. You must comply with the regime, adhere to proper nutrition. You can not just go out for a walk with friends during training, because you know that tomorrow you have a training session and you will have to give 100% for this training. ![]() - What do you do in your free time? - I am very sociable person, it is always important for me and I need to communicate with someone, especially with close people. I like to walk around Moscow - it helps to relax and recover before the work week. - Young people now almost do not watch TV. And you? - To be honest, I also hardly watch TV, because there is not much free time. More often I sit on the Internet, from there and news I learn. «WITH SHE-LINN BURNE WE ARE ON ONE WAVE» - The programs before the season you put the famous Canadian figure skater She-Lynn Bourn. Why it? - She-Lynn Bourn puts me the program for the second consecutive season. The first time I saw her on Denis Tena's show in Kazakhstan, and then I really liked her, because she has a very interesting style of riding, an unconventional approach to work. Then I had a little dream - to work with her. Last year, I gave She-Lynn a short program and liked everything very much. Therefore, this year did not raise the question of choosing a director. - What do you mean by "interesting style" Burn? - On the ice it is very light, playful. She-Lynn is very suitable for me in style. We have an excellent teamwork, we catch one wave and the process of preparing the program is positive and productive. ![]() - Can you tell more about the programs? - Until the season has begun, we keep the program secret, so for now I can only say that the short program will remain from last season. - Then such a question: what music do you prefer to perform to? - I love all directions in music, in my programs I always try to pick up something new, original. If you look at all my programs, it's always different styles, so I'm interested in trying something new, revealing myself in new images. In some images it will be more difficult, it will be necessary to work more. But I will always try to find something interesting, not like everyone else. ![]() "IN JAPAN - THE FREEDOM ATMOSPHERE" - Season 2017 - 2018 - the Olympic. It is possible that for you it will be the first and last Games ... - Yes, indeed, the season is Olympic, but for now I try not to run ahead. While I live today and try not to be distracted by extraneous thoughts, and completely immerse myself in the work. - For the place in the Olympic team will be a battle. Are you ready for it? - The competition is very big in Russia, and only three quotas. Therefore, everyone is preparing, everyone is serious, and I, including. - How do you psychologically prepare yourself for performances? - To be honest, I do not prepare for this in any way. I just go out and do my job. Sometimes I can listen to music before the competition, but in this respect I do not much depend on it, so I always warm up in different ways. - Something on the ice can upset you? - It happens that in training everything does not work, everything is never perfect. I, like everyone else, get frustrated if something does not come out. Honestly, at the moment we decided not to discuss our work with the press. I will only say that the work is productive. ![]() - Where do you like to perform most of all? - In Japan. There's always some crazy atmosphere, the Japanese are directly fanatical. And in the arena, and beyond. Spectators there support not only their athletes, but also participants from other countries, and this is worth a lot. And of course I like to perform in Russia, because everything is at home, it's easier for me to speak in Russia. - How do you cope with the constant change of countries, language, mentality? Have you learned how to adapt quickly? - At the competitions everyone communicates in English, I, fortunately, do not have any difficulties with this. I can always support the conversation and understand everything, so I have no problems with communication at competitions. - What helps to get the best out of the thought of skating? - The mental load helps me a lot. You can read a book or solve some logical problems, in general, to distract. Well, of course, communication with friends - it helps. Edited by ThirdTerm, Aug 12 2017, 01:57 AM.

![]() Russian Elena Fedorova in an interview with "SE" admitted that it was difficult not to let go, knowing that neither at the European Championships, nor at the World Championships this season, most likely, will not perform. The athlete showed only the 5th result in the Russian championship. - Of course, it was difficult, - noted Radionova. - We all want to occupy the first places, any defeat is not easy. I forced myself to think that I would go to the Universiade, that there should show myself from the best side - at least in order to get a chance to speak in the team world championship. I got this chance. Therefore, I can not say that I lost the Russian championship - and that's it, the season is over. Quite the contrary: failure greatly mobilized me. Again, in the situation there were pluses. During the time that I was formed, I had time to analyze a lot of things - to understand what I need for work, not to make mistakes that happened in the season. ![]() Russian Elena Radorova in an interview with "SE" noted that she did not care what and how others will talk about her after the change of coach. In the spring of this year, the athlete moved from coach Inna Goncharenko 's group to Elena Buyanova . - In figure skating very quickly you begin to understand that someone likes you insanely, and someone is insanely annoying, - Rodionova admitted. - Of course, I knew that many will start to condemn me, but I was ready for it. In the end, how many people, so many opinions.

![]() Reigning Olympic champion Yuzuru Hanyu said Tuesday he will be using the soundtrack from the film "Onmyoji" (The Yin-Yang Master) for his free skate program in the 2017-2018 season, including at the Pyeongchang Winter Olympics. Speaking to reporters in Toronto where he is currently training, Hanyu said he has long been planning to use the music from the popular 2001 Japanese movie. https://twitter.com/yuzurushoma/status/892837120930435074 It will be the second time he performs to the piece. He set his free skate routine to it throughout the 2015-2016 season, when he took men's figure skating to a new level. That season, Hanyu broke the world free skate score record several times, skating to the Japanese-themed music where he portrayed a 10th-century Japanese astronomer Abe no Seimei. ![]() At the Grand Prix Final in Barcelona in December 2015, Hanyu received a record-shattering total of 330.43 points, 219.48 in the free and 110.95 in the short, with two of the three -- total score and short program score -- still standing as world records. "I was able to perform well to that music, so I knew I wanted to use it in the Olympic season. I've been saving it for this occasion," Hanyu said. "The quality of composition (of my free skate program) has definitely improved compared to last season and I'm eager to create strong, attacking choreography," said Hanyu, revealing his plan to jump three of the five quads in the second half of the program -- when jumps scores are multiplied by a bonus factor of 1.1. Hanyu earlier announced he has selected Chopin's "Ballad No. 1" for his short program, also the same music he used two seasons ago for his 2-minute, 50-second program. "Maybe I had a few doubts about (using the same music) for the short program but I knew before going into last season that I would use Onmyoji for the free (this season)." |

G od ago her coach Inna Goncharenko , returning from the World Cup in Boston, said of the disciple, "She was an amazing When riding, I catch myself thinking that I was her admiring herself does not believe that it happened to me like that it... smart, beautiful, adult. And amazingly fair. Noble, if you like ... "At the championship Radionova only the remaining six. Of the European figure skaters (not counting the winner - Evgenia Medvedeva ), only Anna Pogorilaya , who previously won two years in a row in European championships, was the winner, but the sixth place is an extremely painful result for the person with Radionova's ambitions. And next season, the figure skater and did not appear in the team. And just ended this strange season for her, announced the decision: she leaves the coach. He leaves to change his life. We met at a gathering in the tiny Italian Courmayeur, where cobblestone streets lead to the rink - a strange modern structure against the backdrop of medieval stone walls. ![]() Rethinking - Black strip happens after almost every athlete, - Lena answers my question carefully, what it is like to be after such a bright rise in 2015, actually thrown out of the habitual life. - Yes, and I do not think that they threw me away. Probably, it's just an opportunity to think, rethink some things and understand what I myself did wrong. - You managed to train your fans to always be ready to compete, always cope with any situation, even if you have to pull out the program "on your teeth." What changed? When did it feel like things had gone wrong? - Probably, from the very beginning of the season. There were injuries, then I was ill for a long time and at the rental I came not ready for it. I hoped to get a shape in the course of the season - and did not have time. I understood that there is not the training that should be, and the coach does not have that contact as before. Separately, all these things were uncritical, and all together poured out into such a big problem. - What role in all this played the fact that in your group first appeared Sergei Voronov , then Maxim Kovtun and the coach had to divide his attention between you? - We had a good sparring with Maxim and Sergey. I always focused on training primarily on myself, so that the guys only spurred me on. - Each sparring has a downside: you have been at the trainer's only one for many years and suddenly became just one of three figures, and not the fact that the central one. Probably, it is not too pleasant to understand such things? - I was very much helped by Tatyana Anatolyevna ( Tarasova , " Note" SE " ), so I did not feel abandoned. - Did she advise you to change the coach? - No. This was entirely my decision. ![]() ERROR AND CHANCE - Did you admit, going to the Russian Championship in December, that you can not get into the team? - I did not think about any specific places that I can take. I thought only about how to cleanly pass both programs. I was psychologically ready for this. In principle, I made only one mistake - in an arbitrary program I touched the ice on landing from a triple rytberger. That is, there was no crushing failure, but I remained the fifth. Perhaps someone else in my place would be upset very much. I continued to convince myself that the main thing is not to give up. Well, yes, I lost. It happens. It's a sport. - It was difficult not to drop your hands, knowing that neither the European Championships, nor the World Cup in this season, most likely, will not be? - Of course, it is difficult. We all want to occupy the first places, any defeat is not easy. - Do you consider yourself guilty in these mistakes? Or just the circumstances? - Of course, my fault is in this. - What is it? "I'm not ready to talk about it right now." It is enough for me that I know the reasons, I know how to eliminate them, and I am ready to work on it. ![]() NORTH AMERICAN STYLE AND "FISHECKES" - Sha-Lynn Bourne (world champion in ice dancing in a duet with Victor Kraatz - note "SE" ) gave you a splendid short program last season, after which everybody started saying that the Canadian is one hundred percent "your" director. So you decided to address her again? "I liked both the program and the way it was perceived, so I decided for myself that next season at least one of the programs Sha-Lin will do again. - In other words, you did not plan to leave a short production for another year? - Actually it's not that I planned, but I really wanted to leave it. And when I started training with Elena Germanovna ( Buyanova , - note "SE" ), she suddenly also said that she would like to leave me the previous short program for another season. So our desires absolutely coincided. Like the idea of making the Shah-Lynn an arbitrary program. I like its programs very much in style, fit, so when we work together on ice, full mutual understanding reigns between us. - What attracts you the most in working with Burn? - The Sha-Lynn has its own style of riding, very North American. It differs from ours. There are a lot of all kinds of "little pricks" that you need to perform with your feet, Canadians always try to make every move, down to the smallest, fit perfectly into the music. - Is it hard to achieve this? - Not that word. The program begins to "play" most vividly, when all the accents are clearly laid out and placed in the music. For this you need to be able to hear music, hear the rhythm, the tempo, and all this work out to absolute automatism. What else I like about the work of She-Lynn, her programs are completely different. No template. She always tries to find something new. If you look closely at the work of one or another director, you can see that some steps and schemes are transferred to one degree or another from the program in the program. She-Lynn is trying to come up with something new. Not like everyone else. - The same Tarasova not so long ago said that it is normal when the program maintains the previous arrangement of key elements, and that almost all skaters do so. - I'm not interested in riding like this. It's interesting to look at the same Ashley Wagner, whose programs are always very diverse, and in general I believe that figure skating is first and foremost slip, emotion, expressiveness. It is clear that jumping is very important, and yet spectators come to look primarily at how we skate. - You came this season to a new coach, to a new training system, new requirements. How do you feel in this changed reality? "Honestly, sometimes it's not easy." The schedule has changed not much, but work on sliding, over programs has become much more. I'm learning how to ride, tracking every movement. So, just to go from jump to jump, I do not allow myself. - Have you been allowed before? "Rather, I used to have a clear head in my head that the jump is the main thing. Now, sometimes jumping into the jump takes away much more attention and strength. It's such a very delicate work - on every move, on every step. As for the beads to assemble the program. "Perhaps it would be easier for you if you had not already won so many titles." - In what sense? - The fact that an experienced and titled athlete can not easily recognize that he does not know something, or show that something is wrong with him. - On the contrary. I came to study. Therefore, I listen to everyone, many specialists work with me, from each of which I constantly learn something new. It's so cool! ![]() HOW MANY PEOPLE - SO MANY OPINIONS - Did your relatives try to dissuade you from leaving? - No. "But you certainly consulted with someone?" "My parents knew that I had such an idea. With my mother we are very close, she always played a big role in my life, she knew about all my problems and doubts, so when I said at home that I made the final decision, my relatives just took it with me. You see, this is still a very difficult subject for me. I am grateful to Inna Germanovna for all that she has done for me, but in life there comes a time when you suddenly realize that you have reached a dead end. Somewhere there is no previous understanding, somewhere it ceases to work, work no longer brings either satisfaction or joy, it seems that only in your life all this was interconnected and suddenly broke apart. I understood everything with my head: how much I owe to the coach, how many years she invested in me all her knowledge, soul, love. - You worried about what and how others will talk about you, if you decide to leave? - In figure skating very quickly you begin to understand that someone likes you madly, and someone is insanely annoying. Of course, I knew that many would condemn me, but I was ready for it. In the end, how many people, so many opinions. - You managed to get used to the previous group to a purely male sparring. How comfortable is it in women now? I mean Maria Sotskova , with whom you train on the same ice. - We do not ride much together. So far, so good. - But for you Masha - an irritant? - Absolutely not. I just do not have time to look around. Too much new information that needs to be somehow put in your head. There was not enough yet to find out with someone a relationship or fight for coaching attention. I have a clear definition of what and how I should be able to do, and this is important. - Any thoughts about the complexity of the program in my head there? - There is something to discuss with the coach, let's say. While it is only about minor adjustments. The existing complexity is enough for me. - The words "Olympic season" cause in your soul some special feelings? - Honestly, no. And I do not want to think about it beforehand. Need to work. And there we will see. ![]() How can I be deprived of life? - If you chose the stages of the Grand Prix at your own discretion, what would be the choice? - Russia and China - exactly how I got it. In China, I performed at the Grand Prix stages for the last two seasons, they love me, there are many fans, I got my first medal of the World Cup there, so it's simply pleasant for me to perform in this country. Well, the house is a house. I generally like to ride for my audience. In addition, everything was very successful in terms of: the stage in Russia - the first in a row, in China - the third. If everything goes well, there will be plenty of time to prepare for the next starts. - When I saw that at the first stage the draw brought you with the two-time world champion Evgenia Medvedeva, immediately remembered how in 2015 you came under Liza Tuktamyshev : unmistakably made the final of the Grand Prix and the European Championships and Both times remained only the second, and lost at the European championship only 0.86. What did you feel then? - Of course, it was wildly offensive. But it was more a resentment of a little girl who desperately wanted to win - and lost. Now I look at it a little differently. It was my first adult season, the first adult championships of Europe and the world, and for debut, I think I performed quite well. Well, yes, probably, could win the same European championship and become a well-deserved master of sports, but what now to regret about what happened? Probably, everything for something should have been formed that way. - Do you ever get tired of figure skating? - No. I like to skate, this is my life, but how can I get tired of life? In addition, there is always the opportunity to switch. To study, for example. I study at correspondence, but successfully passed this year for the second year. - Distance learning requires from the athlete a very large internal discipline. - That's what I really have no problems with. When I understand what is right, I do not have to force. The school was exactly the same. Between training I went to school, in the evenings I worked with tutors, pulled up school subjects, learned the language. It was very difficult, but I passed the exams without problems. She understood that this is primarily for me. - Did you communicate with She-Lynn during the joint work independently in English? - Yes. At first she was a bit shy, she felt uneasy, but then she got used to it and spoke freely enough. I realized that you just need more practice, whatever you do. And then everything will surely turn out. Elena RADIONOVA Born on January 6, 1999 in Moscow. She made her debut in the adult championship of Russia in 11 years. Champion of Russia (2015). Two-time world champion among juniors (2013, 2014). Silver medalist of the European Championship (2015, 2016). Bronze medalist of the World Championship (2015).
