Abridged History ~ The Sokolov family is a noble house that has always been a close friend and political ally of the tsars and tsarinas of Russia. This was the case when Zaria was born, and still is to this day. The Sokolov are a wealthy and notorious family in Russia. As the Russian Empire comes into full bloom in present day, they have become even more well known for their contributions to their country. ~
~Peter and Maria Sokolov were the head of the family throughout the reign of Catherine II, the Great. They had many daughters, but struggled to produce a son that would carry on the family's name and legacy. After years of trying, they finally were given Kostya. They were not expecting another child after him, but two years later, Zaria, the sixth and final Sokolov daughter, was brought into the world.~
~Zaria and Kostya grew up very close, due to how close together their ages were. As a result, Zaria was a bit of a tom-boy as a child and became her father's favorite daughter. This, together with her naturally curious nature, convinced her father that further education would be good for his youngest daughter. The tsarina herself saw something special within Zaria, and even permitted her to sit in on some political councils when she was in her early teens~
~As she grew older, Zaria dreaded leaving her family. She knew that eventually, she would be married off like the rest of her sisters. Only one had married a noble Russian and had stayed in the country. Galina and Lara were both matched with French dukes, and Nadia had married a German prince. They only rarely visited their home, and so, Zaria begged her parents to match her with someone who would not try to take her from the life she had always known. Unfortunately, Peter was given an offer he could not refuse; If he married Zaria to a rich (yet old) English lord, their union had the potential to open up new trade between Russia and England.~
~Only Zaria and her parents know the events which occurred on the day exactly one week before she was supposed to be wed, and why they lead her to arriving at the Krutisy Monastery in Moscow two days after that. She never married the lord, and instead entered the religious life... Where she would become involved with a power much darker and much more powerful than faith. It would change her forever.~
~Alone and immortal, Zaria has found herself in Rome for reasons that nobody besides herself are quite sure of. It is for these reasons that she occasionally makes an appearance among the ranks of The Order. She does not quite fit in with this zealous bunch because of her strong Orthodox beliefs, but with a small smile on her face and a promise in the back of her mind, she moves through it all with a certain grace that both bewilders and alarms...~
