I'm finally all caught up on Gossip Girl, so I thought I'd go ahead and jump start this section of the board. :happyspin:

Who do you guys think Gossip Girl is? I'm very interested to hear theories.

(Oh, and I haven't read the books, but if her identity is revealed for certain in them, please, don't tell!)

My top three picks are Georgina, Chuck, or Blair.

Georgina is certainly malicious enough to spread rumors about the people she was most connected to at school, and all of the dirt on people could be a way for her to stay occupied while she's abroad. Plus she has a line in season 2 to Serena about how she knows things about Serena's friends and family before she does. And her names starts with a G just like Gossip Girl.

Chuck is also evil enough to get pleasure out of revealing people's deepest secrets. The only really damaging blast about him (the one revealing that Blair was sleeping with two guys in season 1) was sent to Gossip Girl by him. He likes to be in control but in a much more behind the scenes way than say Blair does. Also, I think that Gossip Girl's "coward" label for him in the finale was very much how he was feeling about himself at the time.

Blair seems to fit the stereotypical Gossip Girl profile, and the blast about her and Jack wasn't sent out until moments after she knew Jenny was going to reveal the secret anyway. And it would make sense to me if Blair wanted that secret out in the open and off her chest before she went for it with Chuck again. I don't think it's Blair, though, because I think if she had the power of Gossip Girl she would have used it to retake her throne, and Gossip Girl's season 1 blasts nearly sent her away to France.

I once read a theory that Gossip Girl is Dorota. I can't remember what the argument for it was but at the time I thought it was a great idea. Really though I don't think Gossip Girl is any of them and who Gossip Girl is is irrelevant. As it was said in the season final, they are all Gossip Girl and without everyone and their gossip she wouldn't exist.

That being said do like some of your theories, I haven't really thought about who she might be before.

Ha! I'd love to read the Dorota theory. That would be hilarious. I hadn't really thought about it either until my friend got me started on trying to figure it out. Now I can't stop thinking about it. lol

Actually is none of the people listed. She is a person all on her own. :) I do know she is played/spoken by Kristen Bell who has made small guest appearances on the show periodically but has had no spoken lines. Look in the VERY first episode at the train stations. And again at the party where Chuck gets a little too friendly with Jenny. :)

I knew Kristen Bell voiced her, I didn't know she'd made some cameo's. I'll have to look for her.

Same here. I'll have to go look now too. I did notice that when Dan and Serena are making out up against the wall in Victor/Victrola someone walks up the steps and says, "Get a room, Serena," and that her voice sounded an awful lot like Gossip Girl, but I figured it was just coincidence.

I've read all of the books and gossip girl's identity is never revealed. I don't think the author ever had a specific person in mind when creating the character. Unless the show decides to do things differently, I don't think we'll ever know who she is. I don't think its really supposed to matter either.

It wasn't a coincidence. :)

And Sophia you are correct, in the books they don't reveal but the show has started to take a different direction than the books.
