The scene fades in to a long, shadowy hallway. A fluorescent light flickers, almost rhytmically, once every four seconds. Footsteps echo down the corridor, as the camera pans to the end of the hall, showing a figure walking in the distance. As the figure begins his walk down this lonely corridor, flatscreen televisions hung on the walls in evenly spaced intervals flicker to life, showing frozen images of some disturbing moments. An image of John F. Kennedy being shot. An image of the mushroom cloud from an atomic bomb. These images hang in silent testimony to their horror as the figure walks past them. [ 3B | “Throughout any era in history, there comes one watershed event. One split second is all it takes for life as we know it to change forever. And, afterwards, always the one question. "Where were you?"” ] The camera comes in closer, catching only the bottom of Benjamin's face as he walks, the camera moving with him. Benjamin mouth is contorted, his teeth gritted. He passes an image of The Berlin Wall crumbling down. [ 3B | “Where were you when the bomb was dropped? Where were you when something came along, to shake you out of your comfortable little box and really make you question who you are and what you're really worth? Where were you... when the game changed forever?” ] Benajmin continues. [ 3B | “That is the question that has been asked over and over again. In fact it is perhaps the one constant in history... because when history does have it's upheavals, it always happens in one instant, in one moment. And first, comes the shock and the awe, the "WHY DID THIS HAPPEN?!"... but then, realization sets in, and acceptance. That things are never going to be the same. And indeed, they are not.” ] He points at the screens as he continues. [ 3B | “You, the people, have been promised the best, and you have gotten nothing. You have been promised excellence, and you have been delivered mediocrity. The people are hungry for a change, not reiterations of the same old thing. The people who fill the stands and throw down their money aren't interested in seeing the same old thing delivered by anybody, anytime. They want to be pushed to their limit of belief. They want their perceptions of the possible met, or exceeded. The people, watching you peons toil in your mediocrity, the people are crying out for just such a change, just such an upheaval, crying out to save them from their false idols. To lead the uprising against second-rate, garden variety variations on the same song played ad nauseum.” ] His wipes his brow. [ 3B | “Understand this. I am not one of you. I am not one of the people who promise to "revolutionize the industry", by saying the same old shit week after week after week. I am not one of those who is going to come in for anything less. I'm sure it was expected to be more of the same when you signed me... but understand, I am not like you. I am not a killer, or a Goth, or a cult leader. What I am, is greatness personified. What I am, is a revolution in human form. And when I make my impact, once the shock and awe passes, once the acceptance that I am here to save this backwater little league from itself sets in... once you all bow before the feet of a deity such as myself who has truly changed the GCW for the better... then that golden age will be that much sweeter. And the one question on everybody's lips... "Where were you when Bad Boy Benjamin saved the GCW?"” ] He pauses. [ 3B | “I... I talk about greatness, and perhaps it may seem arrogant. But here's the secret my friends: it's not arrogance if you can back it up. I have not come to mince words. I have not come to entertain you... I have come to save you people in the back from your own insignificance. And you will thank me for it. The likes of Nikolai Sinclair may think he deserved that win on Lightning, and he may think he got the best of Bad Boy Benjamin - but he would be sorely mistaken. He'll see. Oh, you'll all see. What I do to Harold Flemotomo this week will merely be a taste. Then, I'm coming for what I desire. I'm coming for what should be sitting on my shoulder right now, had it not been for him.” ] Benjamin stops at one last television screen. It shows an image of Benjamin from Divided; exhausted, but still holding his arms up in victory. [ 3B | “The world is changing, my friends, but then, the world always changes. That moment is coming... and some may not be in favor of the changes to come... But that change is unavoidable. You can either go with the flow, or be washed away by it. The choice is yours.” ] Benjamin grins, finally, and turns away. The camera catches his back as he continues his walk down the hall. The scene fades. Edited by BBB, Dec 18 2017, 04:58 AM.
