It's a cold January morning at the local gym. New trainees are seen working out, listening to music, watching matches and evaluating others. There is one amongst the crowd of newbies and it is Miles Draven. Draven is sitting down on the bench near the powerlifting machine observing his peers and starts to punch his hand. His mind is in a whirl as he sits, almost in a meditation type state as he thinks and thinks. Time has escaped him however. The gym starts to fill up with more trainees. The lack of silence causes Draven to leave. Flash forward 2 hours later, he is in his hotel room pacing around. He puts away his wrestling gear in his suitcase and zips it up. Slowly unwrapping his wrist tape, he sits back down again and reviews his plays. This could be done differently. Do more of this. Do more of that. Add this next time. A camcorder is placed in front of him with the frame on him in the middle. "Persona non grata. Global Championship Wrestling…. the see all, end all goal of many. Rising up through the ranks to become one of the top wrestling promotions in the world, it lays haven to the most superior talented group of individuals in and out that wrestling ring. They have an urge to succeed, to gain an emotional attachment to fans, to attain gold and cement themselves as myths, legends, tales to be passed down to the new breed. What a typical Hall of Famer has is that feeling of belonging. They believe that they were destined to do what they had to do in that specific time, that arena, that match, that company. Persona non grata. You see, I never felt "at home" anywhere I ventured. Constantly traveling, my journey has led me to many wrestling promotions around Canada and across the United States. A nomad, you can say. Hotel rooms like these…. these are my getaways from my getaways. Why? Longing for a purpose? Seeking to belong? To be at home? To be at peace? No. I do it to save myself. People wanted me out their companies. I was deemed too "aggressive" and a threat to others in the ring. I won their titles and proved to them what I believe makes a true world champion. I know that if I kept going, I would end up hurting someone. When that bell rings, I become a machine. I become a man you want to get rid of. I am relentless, a savage amongst the normalization of the rest. My style of wrestling was uncommon to the masses. My passion to prove not only to others but to myself as well was apparent from the start. These people are used to their traditional values and ways and here I am causing a rift. Quickly, I realized that I don't need to prove to myself that I am a talented individual. That is why……. I am here, GCW." Draven looks out the window and sees the civilization living in Tampa, Florida. He starts to pace around slowly this time and punches his fist in his hand numerous times. He grabs his backpack and heads out. Flash forward 30 minutes later, Draven is walking around Tampa. Hoodie up, earphones in, he has his head down just focusing on himself and his goals. He is here for a reason. This is much different than before. This isn't a stop on his journey, this is a request. A goal, a mission, something more than a fight. "Inhibition. A voluntary or involuntary restraint on the direct expression of an instinct. You want to know what it's like to have this tick sucking away your inhibitions? A constant urge to keep fighting….. a prize to be won, a goal to be met, I can't be relaxed once when that goal is implanted in my mind. Deem me a prizefighter, deem me a threat to society, deem me an outcast, a freak, a psychopath. Those are just your opinions. A name is earned through the actions you perform in the ring. Call it what you want. I am the machine. A machine with a constant green light of aggression, determination and passion for decimation. Separate yourself from Miles Draven, GCW. Do it for your own safety. When I arrive next week, you will all witness something truly different. Anyone who stands in my way won't live to tell the tale. The mission has been noted. Listen to the sound of my voice. Listen to your emotions. Listen to your heart. They are all telling you the same thing if you pay attention. Run….." Miles Draven walks out of frame and disappears in the crowd of the city. The crowd overfills the frame of the camera as it cuts to black. Miles Draven arrives…….. WEDNESDAY NIGHT LIGHTNING |
