http://uk.codejunkies.com/Products/Wii-Fre...__EF000595.aspx It's here. I've simeoultaneously placed an order for an American copy of Brawl and the Freeloader. Brawl is set to ship 1-4 days after release so I'll hopefully have it within two weeks ![]() No reviews as to whether or not it works so all of this could have been a huge waste of money, but I'll keep you posted. I couldn't resist. I NEED BRAWL. Also bear in mind that they can patch the firmware at ANY point, making the Freeloader redundant. However: 1.) You need an internet connection and a wireless access point, which Nintendo knows everybody doesn't have. As such online is completely optional, so they cannot force you to upgrade the firmware when a system update arrives. Therefore this can be avoided by simply refusing to update. 2.) They can release a patch on a game disc that installs before the game is played. Prime Corruption and Galaxy both had it, my assumption is that Brawl will too. BUT, Brawl is already set for a release next week so it is extremely unlikely they will sneak in a patch before then, especially when they have already produced many copies. Perhaps on later versions which is why I'm getting it so quickly However please remember that any future games like Mario Kart may contain firmware patches. Therefore be careful with what you buy. Frankly I can hold off both upgrades and new games until the European Brawl release (at which point I'll sell my American copy and buy a PAL one). Pretty funky. We can play together now

Be careful. If you let an NTSC game patch your PAL Wii you will break it. The only way I've heard to fix it is wait for a newer PAL game and let it oatch over the PAL patch. |

WiiBrickBlocker will strip those mandatory patches but then you need a way to play burned games |

Or vise-versa. A lot of people were bitten by this when they tried to play Strikers over the summer since it was out in Europe for like two months before it came out here (what an odd twist that never happens) |

WBB is a computer program. You feed it ISOs of wii games and it will remove the updater files and leave just the game. You just burn a new disc and it plays and won't bug you. The only hard part is modding your Wii to play burned games. Look into using the Twilight Princess hack. I'm pretty sure first-run PAL copies will work. But actually the Freeloader might negate the update thing entirely. I'm sure they're not that dumb. |

YEEEEEEEEEEAH Some dude e-mailed codejunkies. Freeloader does indeed block firmware updates. It's happened, region-free without the need to void a warranty or solder very small pins. So FYI: Every European should do this (I'm lookin' at you gama, Lip and Ad). |

Looks like we can have a GUO match after all. Not too sure how online will fare across the pond (it may be laggy as hell) but we'll have to just see. |

It's gonna be a pain to set up a meeting time. But I wouldn't worry about lag. |

FYI: Europeans can purchase an American copy from Gamestop or Play-Asia. Make sure it's the American version to avoid moonspeak and LIZARDONs. EDIT: Play-Asia with fast track delivery costs £42. That's very reasonable. The Freeloader is £10 with £5 postage (probably varies on location). So you're looking at about £55 for the whole package. A lot for a game but for THIS game, it's worth it. |

Also, it may become necessary to revive the wii code topic. All for preparedness. |
