The Lumarian Species
Spoiler: click to toggle -Homeworld: Lumara -Physical Appearance: Rather large creatures at 9'6-10'2, they have an extremely bestial like stature usually measured at shoulder height and a extremely heavy body. They have a dense muscular system wrapped around bones that have a hard mineral coating, this coating extends to the formation of rigid overlapping hard tissue plates along most of the outer body, a thick hide in browns and greens can be seen anywhere not covered by the plates. They have a long tail usually between 4'8-5'4 in length, along the tail are tracts for biochemical glands that generate a hallucinogenic gas; however, these glands are undeveloped in the majority of the species. The species dwells on eight legs and possesses an elongated body to accommodate this, each leg ending in a five digit 'claw', arranged 3 forward and 2 short trailing. The claws themselves share more in common with a root structure then an actual claw, naturally digging into the ground and taking in nutrients during periods of rest. True manipulation is accomplished by a series of six 'pods' that contain fully prehensile tendril like manipulators, There is three of these pods a side with one between each set of legs, the tendrils themselves are four to a pod and capable of retracting into special groves in the body. Additionally the tip of each tendril is capable of splitting into four small strands for fine manipulation.
Their heads are rugged and elongated with an extended snout, The lower jaw of their mouth fits snugly with the snout and completely masks the teeth and inner lip. Even when the mouth is open the teeth are only apparent when looking directly into the mouth, showcasing two sets of upper teeth and one set of lower teeth, the teeth are mostly for grinding with only the foremost set for gripping and tearing. They posses four eyes slightly sunken into the skull with a forward look, the eyes contain a complex internal 'bifocal' setup allowing each eye to grant independent bifocal view and presenting an 'eye within an eye' appearance. Several small opaque dots roughly the size of a thumb reside along their body, they provide an electromagnetic sense that is sensitive up to twelve meters and sometimes more in the case of especially strong fields. Augmenting the unusual biochemistry they possess 4 distinct and discolored membrane strips along their back that serve to filter light into specialized pockets, these pockets contain a symbiotic 'plant-like' organisms that naturally recycle and filter the Lumarian's biochemistry.
The Lumarian's also posses the capacity to go dormant for significant periods of time, during which their 'claws' will grow into a root like network while their tendrils sprout into 'vine-like' formations that serve to anchor them. These two developments along with the symbiotic organisms serve to maintain a 'minimum' biological activity to sustain the body, as during these periods a Lumarian has for all intents and purposes is comatose. Finally in several places along the body, most prominent on the snout, are luminescent tracts, the tracts can be finely controlled to display a number of patterns in low light conditions.
-Average Lifespan (Up to 300): 126 (Active, their aging slows to 1/10th when 'dormant') [Technology bolsters this to 630, pilot 'enhancement' improves to 1,008] -Protean Alignment Astral -Elemental Base: Boron (Introducing Copper in structural material) -Genetic Structure: HNA, Triplicate Form -Average ESPER level (1-7): Zeta 5 (95%) / Lamba 2 (4%) | Abilities have Natural Cap/Peak of 7 Zeta / 5 Lamba -Total Population: [Pending Clarification] +History: Lumarians stem from a home system well above the galactic plane of the Ceros Galaxy. Isolated and alone with little more than a harsh homeworld, a few planets, and a neighboring system. Living relatively long yet harsh and overall poor lives, they spent several millennium in a slow and idle development, civilization forging to try and ease the burden upon each other against their homeworld's yearly shifts in environment. The skies above their civilization always held a curiosity, for so clearly they could see stars in large clusters, never well split among the night sky. Early Astronomers always suspecting that to reach the stars would be well past the reach of any mortal, instead focusing towards the land and the sea for the life that could endure.
Lumarian history is scarce to show true strife, only the scrawls between minor powers for desperate resources. The Zokasi Initiative being founded by the people seemingly on a whim, as the growing civilization at large seemed only concerned with the now, only letting idle curiosity draw them to a new future. When some century or so later the Initiative shared the beginnings of news for how distant the stars were, there was only minor public confusion and overall ignorance, with no one batting an eye as the news all but vanished overnight. Still some remained that began to understand there was something wrong, soon becoming conspiracists in their own right.
Over the generations only the occasional new leak, or even the rapid development of technology seemed to spur thought that something greater was going on. Then the great Ark fleet happened. Scarcely a year before the fleet would launch a new epidemic had begun brewing, though isolated and nothing new, the people were almost feverish in avoidance to it. An Epidemic that could steal from them the only things they had left, leading to strife and chaos as entire nations secluded themselves to avoid the epidemic, trying to quarentine entire sections of the planet to contain it; However, this was nearly Twenty six millennium ago.
The home stars lay silent and empty of a living soul, their end did not come in a triumphant roar, or even in a rushing wind, but rather in a crying whisper. In silence an Epidemic had erased their civilization almost entirely from existence, ending the lives of every Lumarian who had remained in the home stars. Beyond hearing, yelling, pleading, or any other communication from home the Arks had carried on, against the odds they had managed to traverse the titanic distances between their home sector and the ceros galaxy, traveling as silent wardens seen only by the pilots, pilots long since replaced by entire lines of succession, their arrival meant the pilots could finally spur the ships to life once more. +Other: Lumarian can become permanently anchored if their root/vine network grows to extensively in dormancy, those who chose to remain such instead of accepting aid become known as 'Keepers'
The Zokasi Initiative
Spoiler: click to toggle -Homeworld: Lumara -Member Races: Lumarian -Current Leader: Zamara -Government System: Timocracy -Population: 108,720 per Ark, 3,805,200 across Armada +History: Scarcely a decade into the development of interstellar travel did people, or more specifically the space agency of the time, the 'Zokasi Initiative' discover the isolation of the Lumarian species. In these early years with what little technology they had, the initiative began an almost rabid build up to study their situation in full, with speculative scholars merely suggesting interstellar distances to simply be far greater then estimated. Nearly a century faded as the Zokasi Initiative fought with politics both internal and external over this theory, the debate only finally settled with the establishment of a satellite for a gravitational lens. The full revelation of this isolation would come from the dawning realization that in the time it had taken for their civilization to not just achieve space travel but to of even begun, their system had been hurtling away from the Ceros Galaxy astronomers of old had identified.
The extend of the revelation was for the most part hidden from the people, with the higher governments taking deals behind doors for the Zokasi Initiative to step up for a solution, to make a way out of isolation. A task that would become daunting and far beyond what their science could even hope to achieve, leading to almost chaotic research efforts for solutions. Efforts that would come to develop not just the ability to tame the fires of fusion, to store that power, but to utilize it in energized shields able to weather meteor bombardment. Even with these Breakthroughs and the mind boggling developments they were achieving they could see little hope in coming to a true solution, for even with creating new tools they had little means to utilize them to escape their fate of isolation.
Then came the break as development produced the Phase Drive, a drive capable of breaching the previously untouchable lightspeed barrier. The practicality of using it to simply move straight to Ceros was still beyond their grasp, but using it to jump vessels in speed was a new hope. The Zokasi Initiative was able to redirect their almost chaotic efforts into a singular task, the creation of a fleet to reach to Ceros. Massive frames were piecemeal assembled in orbit of their homeworld, almost as if stations, and well beyond what any engineer would consider reasonable to build again. The entirety of resources at the disposal of the Lumarians was dedicated to this project, with interest being drummed up to gather people to embark on this journey. Only a limited number of Ark vessels could be prepared though as elements for the Phase Drive began running scare, and as if to over complicate matters it was barely a year before departure when an epidemic began appearing among the Lumarian People. Seeing the need to rush the launch the vessels were pushed to depart as soon as possible, their computers loaded with only a simple codex of rules and what technological and cultural information could be stored. +Emblem: N/A (Each ship displays an emblem of their choice) +Military Branches: N/A +Theme: +Other:

Phase Drive Technology The Phase Drive uses an unusual non-spacial field to energeticly excite matter within similar to an inverted warp field. The field is supported by a series of repeaters capable of boosting the affected and excited matter into a higher energy state, allowing the drive to subvert the speed of light by skipping the limitation of physical mass. While the drive is active the vessel effectively vanishes from real space, specifically, the energy emissions from the field are the only major signature of the vessel. These energy emissions much like the drive itself are capable of an FTL movement, yet due to their nature, are detectable by real space sensors otherwise capable of receiving their lower energy state, albeit at half the range a subspace sensor would achieve. The principle advantage of the drive is that this unique energy signature has no mass for subspace sensors to recieve, and instead is only notable from a 'shadow' left upon drive activation. These shadows will persist for up to a day depending on the mass of the vessel, after which they will completely dissipate. Problems with maintaining this high energy state coupled with the immense power draw of the drive means it's only capable of limited range, requiring multiple jumps, a problem only compounded by vessels being otherwise blind and unable to maneuver during a jump.
Technology Listings
Spoiler: click to toggle Tier 1-Phase Field Theories Post Count: 50 | Prerequisites: N/A Theories involving the utilization of a non-spacial field to change the relative state of matter within the field.
Tier 2-Phase Drive Post Count: 80 | Prerequisites: Phase Field Theories The drive is capable of generating a field across an attached vessel, converting the vessel into a burst of High-energy/non-mass matter, temporarily accelerating the vessel to faster than light speeds. The advantage of the drive is the vessel does not generate the Subspace signature distinct of FTL travel, though suffers in its practicality for rapid transit due to limited speed and range per activation. The vessel is capable of moving at 0.5PC/d, with a range of 1PC per jump. [Cost as Advanced]
Tier 3-Gen II Phase Drive Post Count: 60 | Prerequisites: Phase Drive Advanced stabilization mechanisms to control the natural fluxutations, and the accompanying loss of energy, improve both the speed and range of the drive. The vessel is capable of 0.625PC/d, with a range of 2PC per jump.
Tier 4-Gen III Phase Drive Post Count: 65 | Prerequisites: Gen II Phase Drive A well revised version of the drive built around new understandings of its intricate functionalities, the fields generated by the drive are able to be better tailored to the vessels. The advantages of these changes being an increase in the speed and range of the drive. The vessel is capable of 0.75PC/d, with a range of 3PC per jump.
Tier 5-Gen IV Phase Drive Post Count: 70 | Prerequisites: Gen III Phase Drive The introduction of a ship wide focusing system, along with small changes incorporated into the hull design, allow for incremental improvements to the drive's speed and range. The vessel is capable of 0.875PC/d, with a range of 4PC per jump.
Tier 6-Multi-Phase Drive Post Count: 75 | Prerequisites: Gen IV Phase Drive A major breakthrough has allowed the drive to be remodeled into a multi-point activation, along with significant advancements in field generation. While issues with power drain haven't been touched, the power has been stepped in requirements to better facilitate short and tactical range usage. The extent of the modifications is such that a vessel is able to in a single short jump 'Blink' two or three times, flickering in and out of it's FTL state for a scarce few seconds before vanishing again. Routes have to be planned in advance for this blink, and the drive spin up is problematic; However, this still provides notable advantage for tactical applications. Further the drive is capable of a full 1PC/d, with a range of 5PC per jump.
