He comes across and demon and a mysterious girl protects him. She lends him her position when she gets injured, and it pretty much kicks off from there. The battles are amazing throughout the series, with a few filler arcs but not as bad as Naruto. They use a lot of strategy in battle, almost always getting both sides thinking up ways to defeat their oppoenents, and their quest to get stronger is an interesting journey in it of itself. It's great to see weapons-based battles like these, reminds me of Soul Calibur in that sense. My favorite character of the series is Ishida Uryuu:

My favourite character is either Zaraki, Urahara or Hollow Ichigo all awesome :ph43r: I personally liked the SS Arc the best so far. I won't ruin a lot of the plot, but its basically what they said how it starts. It is about souls generally, and 'death gods' are souls which send these souls to 'Soul Society' or to hell. Some souls become monsters, known as hollows, and it is the death god's job to kill them, and purify them. They generally use swords, though some higher level 1s can change there weapons appearance and gain special abilities with them.
