I can say it's hardest place in the game. Even battle with Ares was easier for me. I quess you would like know how it happens...:) Before battle with Ares you appear near place where you saved hanging girl. You run through this passage and you chalange Ares. When fight is over, you sit on Ares's throne and "become new god of war". And this is how 2nd one begins. GoW II ends with nice video and text "the end begins..." so i'm sure they're working on GoW III.
