HUMANS & SOCIETY Humans have a difficult time in society. As I've said, they are often pushed off into poverty stricken lifestyles where crime is one of the few options they have. Most humans who stick it out through the terrible high schools or community colleges in the slums are lucky to be working as a maid at a hotel or a janitor at a fast food place. Many people who do hire humans willingly only take the risk because humans can be paid at a much lower price. It is a frustrating cycle that many humans have difficulty putting up with. This is the reason many humans in the slums are driven towards crime and gang activities. HUMAN SCHOOLS The schools located in the slums are often a joke. You have high schoolers who can only write at a third grade level and a drop-out rate of over 50%. Many humans are seen as uneducated and stupid (to be fair, many are). These schools are obviously dominated by humans, but there are still small populations of creatures that have unfortunate upbringings and live in the slums. These creatures are often encouraged to take long subway rides every morning to go to different public schools that will give them a better chance at entering college and continuing their educations. BARCODE IDENTIFICATION A human's identification code is generally placed somewhere on their arm (wrist, forearm, shoulder). Occasionally it will be located elsewhere. The location is not as important as the law where humans are required to show their barcodes when asked. It's illegal for humans to lie about their race. Once the barcode is shown anyone with a cellphone may scan the identification code and the human's profile will be brought up with any important information like their name, age, current registered home address, employment, etc - and of course most importantly - their police record. This will allow creatures to immediately see if they are in the presence of a dangerous human. Witches design the magical ink that is used for these tattoos, so they do not fade and they cannot be removed by normal means. The only people who are known to not have their barcode identification code anymore have mutilated by cutting out a huge chunk of their skin or were terribly burned. It's a huge price to pay that still leaves behind a suspicious scar which makes it not worth trying for majority of humans. SLAVER DIVISION The Slaver Division is a word no humans wants to hear or think about. It'll probably bum you out! There are two ways to get on their radar. First, commit a terrible crime (like murder or stealing a race). The second way is to rack up crime after crime where it's impossible to justify the person belonging in society. The Slaver Division hires hunters to track any of the wanted humans and once they are caught they are stripped of their right to be called a person. These terrible criminals are now considered items where they will be reformed (most humans assumes that means heavily abused) and given a new use that benefits society. Nobody knows where the humans end up once they're taken... All they know is once the Slaver Division takes someone they're never heard from again. |

USING RACES You can picture the race as being a parasite. It will be pulsing in your hand and the moment you bring the race close to your body it will latch onto your skin and begin stabbing into you. For a few painful hours, the race will work on connecting to your skeletal system, nerves, and muscles. This is called the 'bonding process'. PRE-BONDED Before a race is finished bonding with you, it's painful and uncomfortable. As I've stated, it's digging into your flesh. Removing it before it's bonded is not usually too difficult. Most of the time you can stick your nail between the race and your flesh and slowly work your way down disconnecting the two. This normally leaves some bleeding and a bit of discomfort but it should heal up and you'll be back to normal within a few days. Before the race is finishing bonding with you, you don't have the full advantages that come with the race. It's a small change at first that builds over time as the race finishes bonding with you. Until it is completely bonded, you are just a weakened version of the creature. BONDED Once a race is finished bonding with you it will be as real as any other body part you have. That is your new race (the only difference being you won't be voided once it's removed, you'll just go back to being human). Unlike a pre-bonded race, removing a race that has bonded with you is much more difficult. This is where humans can by accidentally end up mutilating or damaging themselves permanently. Most humans will need the help of an illegal underground healing clinic to get a bonded race removed. Most humans either let a single race bond with and stay that race forever, or use multiple ones without ever letting any finish bonding to them. That is how you prevent being mutilated. MULTIPLE RACES Now if you needed a new liver, would you accept one without any details? Without knowing if it's even the same blood type as you? That's basically what you're dealing with when a human attaches more than one race at a time. While a single race is compatible with any human, not every race is compatible with one another. No body is designed to carry two races at a time meaning majority of breeds and races are not compatible and will compete with one another for the host. This leads to an even more painful bonding process as the two fight with one another viciously trying to dig into their host. It's very likely that they'll grow infected (sometimes so badly that the individual dies), swollen, and cause nerve damage. Everyone has heard stories of humans who evened up in hospitals due to the bad reactions they've had. Not only are their bodies normally usually mutilated from it, but ending up in a hospital means they'll now be charged with race theft and handed off to the Slaver Division once it's all said and done. Majority of humans have no reason to try this and should avoid it at all costs. One race at a time is dangerous enough. |
