CREATURES & SOCIETY Creatures have tried to build a society that was as safe and fair to all as they could. This wasn't accomplished due to vicious tensions between humans and creatures, corrupt politicians, and the paranoid and untrusting nature most had after they finally won the civil war hundreds of years ago. Peace was just never quite achieved and people do the best they can with the hand they're dealt. FAMILIES There are no hybrids in this world. If a mage and a vampire have a child together, it will be human. Different breeds can mix but if you mix different races your child will come out human. To avoid this it's very common for mixed race couples to have children with different people that share their race (or to use donated sperm/alternative methods to keep their child pureblood). Half-siblings are as common as real siblings are. If a mixed race couple by accidentally gets each other pregnant abortions are common. Not many are willing to bring another unwanted human into the world. SCHOOLS Schools away from the slums are dominated by creatures. There are very few humans that attend these schools, and the ones who do are usually the small portion of humans that were born by accident to a mixed race couple. Obviously, they are shunned and the main targets for bullies since nobody wants to go anywhere near them. They are banned from joining school clubs, staying on school property after their last class ends, and are typically closely monitored by the staff (and other students who are always willing to tattle on them). RACES AND BREED INFORMATION There is gonna be a lot of talk about breeds and races. So lets break down what they are! Your race is the general type of creature you are. Vampires, fairies, elves, etc. However, they aren't the traditional meaning of the word. Each race has one field they zero in on and the abilities to do with that field differ greatly from race to race. For mages, some breeds are fire and some breeds are ice. For vampires, some can track people after drinking their blood while others might get heightened senses/physical abilities after drinking blood. You get to be creative with the breed! I don't want any two races to be the same because I really like having unique characters all over the place. VOIDS When a creature's race is stolen they need to register themselves as a void. Voids are creatures who have lost their race. Many voids report having bad cramps, excessive tiredness, depression, shortened lifespans, pain, headaches, shaky hands and trembles, weakness, insomnia, and other negative side effects for the rest of their lives. Unfortunately, unlike humans, creatures can ONLY bond with the race they were born with. If they are not given the specific race that was taken from them, they'll be cursed to suffer being a void for the rest of their days. Voids are ghosts of their former selves and it's a terrible sad fate to have to watch someone go through. Many creatures find themselves holding a deep hatred for humans when one of their loved ones have been voided. RACES A creature's race is located in a single body part. For the sake of this roleplay site I am allowing YOU to choose where you want your race to be. Some are obvious (fangs for vampires, wings for fairies), while others might take a bit more thought. I prefer you use the breed you choose to come up with a solution that fits your individual case. A mage that always talks when they cast spells might hold their race in their tongue. Another mage might always snap to make spells happen so their race resides in their finger. A transmuter might always have to change their fingernails to claws before changing to a dog form, so their race is held in their finger nails. Try to pick a piece of your character's body that goes hand-in-hand with any quirks or habits they do. RACES AFTER BEING VOIDED When someone is voided and their race is removed it is not able to survive on it's own. A race can live for a few weeks as it slowly dries out and starves to death, but ultimately it will need a new host to feed off of or die. Races can feed off any human or the individual person it originally belonged to. A vampire cannot bond with another vampire's race. This is one of the reasons it is so important to register as a void (you will be fined if the police find you have not brought it to their attention). The police need a database they can use so when they recover races they can quickly run it through a lab and have it returned to it's proper owner as swiftly as possible. |
