THE DRUG MARKET Drugs are dominated by the Voidsent gang. This means that majority of people who handle drugs or push drugs into human territory are often creatures. Drugs are more expensive for humans and they have difficultly finding solid connections if they ever wanted to deal any. Lets walk through the process of how drugs end up in your body! THE PRODUCTION Drugs first need to be created. The people who run these operations are not the people who make them. Making drugs can be dangerous, bad for your lungs, and scary since you never know when police will come tearing through the door. It's risky for people to try to mix drugs from their apartments because if they get too big their competition will want to swiftly knock them out of the game. You may make a character who creates drugs on a small scale (like out of their apartment on a small scale), or you may make a character who is mixing the drugs for a drug lord. You may not roleplay someone who runs an operation like this without permission. Once the drugs are produced they will be traded off to the distributors who try to keep drugs and money flowing. THE DISTRIBUTION A distributor is someone with many connections and massive amounts of money. They'll buy huge quantities of drugs from the people who create drugs (often on a weekly/monthly basis) and start using their connections to spread the drugs throughout the city. Distributors sell the drugs in smaller quantities for a more expensive price. You cannot make a distributor without getting permission. You may make a character who works for a distributor. This job would include making deliveries like dropping off money, or picking up large quantities of drugs to bring them to the distributor's current safe location. They can also be errand boys who bring smaller amounts of the pile to the drug dealers who then sell them to the customers. THE DEALERS Drug dealers are often your typical hoodlum who got lucky enough to work their way up the social ladder and got in contact with a distributor or someone who works for a distributor. They buy small piles of drugs and then sell them to the people who will be using. While you can make a lot of money out of this, many find they are barely making ends meat when they are doing some of the drugs themselves. It's a very tempting occupation to have so plenty of drug dealers find themselves constantly short in cash if they're not careful. Anyone may make a drug dealer without permission. Drug dealers often get territorial and if they notice another drug dealer starts trying to sell to their usual customers it may be tempting to scare them away from your drug addicts. |

THE BLACK MARKET The black market is dominated by the Barcode gang. In the slums you can find pawn shops that will buy and sell anything you can imagine. Plenty of people drop by these sketchy shops set up to buy weapons and races. THE GATHERERS In order for the black market to begin, we need the goods that will be circulating the slum's streets. The gatherers can be violent individuals who void creatures, people who set up connections to bring in large quality of weapons into the city boarders, or thieves who steal valuable items from people. It doesn't matter how the people get it. All that matters is it fells for a price. You cannot make a character that runs any large operations (like bringing in massive amounts of weapons to the city) without permission. However, you may be someone who works for an individual who runs an import/export business like that. You may roleplay being any street thug, violent criminal, or thief who takes what they want from people and sells them to distributors for a living. THE DISTRIBUTORS Distributors are trusted buyers that are safe. When you own an illegal possession there is nothing more terrifying than trying to sell it for the first time. How do you know you're not selling to an undercover cop? How do you know the sketchy person buying won't rob you? How can you possibly trust anyone? Well, you can now. Distributors often get in contact with "gatherers" and they are a safe place the individuals can drop off their weapons, races, or robbed goods without fear of anything going wrong. Distributors are filthy rich individuals who are buying in huge quantities each month. Gatherers need them so they can get paid and store fronts need them so they can stay stocked. You may not make a character who plays a big role in distribution without permission, but you may make a character who works for one. THE STORE FRONTS Store fronts are one of the riskiest parts of the black markets. Some people become successful hoarding goods in a location and meeting clients with the item they want to buy in a different location each time. Some people manage to get a whole pawn shop or illegal business running where to the average person they can seem like a legal business. Store fronts (the smart ones at least) will only buy from distributors since many thugs that walk in trying to make a sale can easily be giving an item with a tracking device or be wearing a wire or simply be some sting the police are trying to set up. Store fronts must be paranoid to survive. Many will move locations often and try to stay discreet. The more business you get and the more people that know about you... The more dangerous it becomes. You may make a character who operates at a small scale (trying to collect items or selling stuff out of their apartment), but you may not be any major business owner without permission. You can be a character who works for any type of store front you would like though. |

THE PROSTITUTION RINGS Prostitution runs wild in the slums and human territories. Many people come to this location from all over the city to take out pent up aggression on people they are allowed to treat however they wish. People affiliated with Barcode drive prostitution up and have created organized crime around the illegal activity. THE PROSTITUTES Do you have a hole located somewhere on your body? Good. You're hired. Prostitutes are the individuals sacrificing their bodies in exchange for cash. There are many different types of prostitutes. Some work willingly on their own in the grimy city conditions where sex is cheap and STDs run wild. Others might be forced into it from a larger operation scale and they have no say in it. HUMAN (AND CREATURE) TRAFFICKING Human trafficking is a large scale problem in bad areas in the city. A lot of the low scale brothels depend on people being kidnapped and forced behind their walls where they will often be threatened, stalked, or have blackmail held against them in order to trap the prostitutes there. Usually the people in charge of human trafficking are manipulative and clever finding ways to rope people in before officially snatching them off the streets where they'll never be heard from again. This can include learning about their family or loved ones, making them financially dependent, or making them believe they owe their captors something. You may roleplay anyone who is a victim of human trafficking, but you may not roleplay anyone in charge of a large operation without getting permission first. THE BROTHELS There are many brothels littered throughout Barcode territory. The further from this area you go the harder it is to find them and the more hidden and discreet the brothels become. Majority are shitty locations in the slums where you may treat the prostitutes however you wish. It's more difficult to come across high class brothels where the prostitutes are treated well and willingly there. It's also much more expensive. You may roleplay working at a brothel but you may not own one without permission. THE PIMPS Not every little business needs to have a store front. While brothels are a risky business, just forcing people to have sex for you is fairly easy. Pimps are any people who can gain control over someone's life and force them to have sex with people in exchange for money. No store fronts needed. All you need to do is text your prostitute a location to meet a client at and later that day you'll be taking a chunk of cash. Anyone may roleplay being a pimp or having their own small scale prostitution business (like one run out of their apartment). |

THE ILLEGAL FIGHTING RINGS Fighting rings exist in the clubbing districts located in Voidsent territory. It's a brutal hobby for some where big amounts of cash can be flowing through many fingers each night. THE FIGHTERS In order to start a fighting ring, obviously, you need fighters. These are often gang members (typically Voidsent creatures) who take pride in hitting the gym every day and are used to being all swollen and bruised. Some get into fighting willingly where they just want to make money. Others are forced into it and aren't given a choice. You may create any characters that are fighters. THE VICTIMS While fighting arena have lots of fighters and customers willing to watch the madness, there are also victims that are often tied into it as well. This can be anything from someone who was sold to a location fresh out of human trafficking to a human that wronged the Voidsent gang. Fighters will often use people to warm up on who don't stand a chance against them or they will throw these 'punching bags' in the rings to make sure people are entertained while the bookies take bets and money before the next fight starts. THE RING OWNERS The rings are often located in the basement of clubs, roofs of buildings, or other locations that a person wouldn't stumble across. Night clubs make the perfect cover since not many people will hear the ruckus going on when you're blasting music so loudly in the main business that masks the violent crimes. The people who own individual clubs often team up with promoters, fighters, and Voidsent influences to get a ring started up. While not every person who owns the business is sadistic, the amount of money a fighting ring can pull in is just very tempting for some. Even if they don't agree with what's happening money speaks louder than actions at times. You cannot make a character that owns any rings without permission. THE PROMOTERS Promoters are people who help get fighting rings going. These are often people involved heavily in Voidsent activity because fighting rings are usually directly gang related. These are the people who will hunt down humans that voided a creature and drag them into the club promising a fight to the death where Voidsent members can pack together and watch a public execution. The best way to promote fighting rings and keep them populated is to continuously do gang related activities, keep people entertained, and make sure the money is flowing. These guys can help find you good bookies and fighters most of the time as well. THE PUPPET MASTERS While fighting rings are a huge part of many gang member's lives... Ultimately, it's just a way for rich men to control things. People who control fighting rings are vicious and territorial. If any fighting rings pop up in their small area that they did not give permission they will make sure it's torched to the ground. If the ring owners aren't paying them a monthly fee they can easily "disappear" and be replaced. These are often people who exercise aggressive methods to keep the cutthroat operation under their control. You may not be someone who takes this role without permission. |

CRIME INFO Here are extra tips and information about crimes that many people may find useful and form a better understanding for what your character is doing. ● How much do races sell for? If you are someone who dabbles in the black markets, you may be wondering how much a single race sells for. The prices vary a lot but common races and breed typically sell for 2,000-5,000 dollars. The cheaper side if you are selling to a distributor, the more expensive side if you are a proper shop selling to actual customers. Voiding a creature and destroying their life is a big deal. It shouldn't be a daily activity for most. ● How can I get permission for a crime boss? If you'd like to be a leader in the crime world, you do need permission. I will have a thread up and running soon where you can apply to open store fronts or become distributors. Please keep in mind that we are looking for unique businesses that fit the setting. We don't want to have 5 of the same types of brothels that serve the same purpose. Moderators will review the application and you will either be accepted or denied for the idea. ● How do gang territories work? Voidsent is a gang that is very hostile towards humans. They are known to leave humans mutilated and beat on street corners as retaliations. It is almost never safe for humans to wander carelessly into Voidsent territory. It's dangerous and they can end up facing serious consequences. Voidsent is a much tighter gang where the members tend to form small packs where they have close friendships with a few other members and help each other out. Barcode territory is much more neutral ground when it comes to the race war. There are plenty of unfortunate creatures who live in the slums (though they are dominated by humans) who have no gang affiliation. Many humans also let races bond to them or are using races at any given time. They aren't hostile towards creatures. There are some violent neighborhoods where it's common for people to get voided, or humans to be robbed of races they own, and these are places that most people should avoid at all costs. Barcode is a much more distant gang where the members are less trusting of one another and humans are more likely to fuck other humans over for the right price. |
