Aonghus meaning "one strength" derived from Irish óen "one" and ghus "force, strength, energy".
Fearghal means "man of valour", derived from the Gaelic elements fear "man" and gal "valour".

This is the first in my series and due to work and school I don't get to write that often. Next year I'm trying to get into the short story course and maybe I can write some more. I also write descriptive shorts sonnets and poetry.

The Adventures of Ashgarn - AONGHUS FEARGHAL AND THE DRAGON KING

“The battle’s intensifying,” screamed the commander, Erik, the leader of the Elven nation “Aonghus, we have to leave before we die!”

“Yes commander” Aonghus Fearghal yelled over the noise. “We are going to die”, I thought to myself. Just then, all the fighting stopped and a glow shone upon us, it was Gorgon, the white wizard of the true king of Ashgarn. He had come to save us –when we thought all hope was lost, he came. Cheers rose up all around me ‘Yeah!’ ‘Argh!’ and the battle thrived. The war would continue in our favour. The Orks yelled and screamed when they saw us charging at them with new spirit. They crumbled and retreated as we pounced on their backs and they-had lost the battle.

Sweet victory rushed over us and everybody on the Elven side suddenly thought of home sweet home Gorgergs…I could feel the strawberries sliding down my throat with almost a real sugary taste it made my mouth water .The smell of the roses and fresh air made me feel real once more and brought me back to memories and peace. Peace it is so peaceful in Gorgergs. Even though Gorgergs is a peaceful nation we have to keep life springing from the fountains in Gorgergs because once an elf dies it loses its height, our army is small in size, but mighty in spirit.

And as quick as it came it left, then something completely different we thought about Tredgor … the land of Death and Despair the mountains, fire, goblins, fiends, gublinch, and death.

“Aonghus!” Gorgon screamed to get our attention “we need you to defeat the Dragon King, In order to do so you will need the Sword of Sustaining Life in the Valley of Death or you will die before you touch his blade. You will need the Shield of Courage in the Cave of Despair or you will cower in fear and run. The goblin army must die or they will crown their most mighty soldier.” Gorgon finished his prophecy while pointing towards a small group of soldiers, “your army awaits.”

First I was told to go to the Valley of Death and retrieve the Sword of Sustaining Life “We have to travel the forest of Adriad and there are Hargrad’s in these parts,” I said. “Prepare your flames and axes.” We were almost finished the walk through the slimy forest when there were screams all around. The trees were burning and flesh and organs lay all over the ground. The men were dying from a Hargrad attack. Orks jumped from the trees and pounced on my armies. “War” screamed the Orks. Blood shot across the sky and it was a full fledged war. “Waugh!” Gorgutz screamed from atop his dragon. “All arrows shoot toward Gorgutz” Erik yelled. We pulled out our swords and there was a clash and flames leapt out and burned us. Faces were on fire and one hundred Orks fell to ash. All the arrows flew and hit Gorgutz’s dragon. It fell into the Hargrad’s branches and ate the dragon alive. Flames exploded out and burned a quarter of both armies. It was my chance to destroy the goblin army, “everybody attack now” I bellowed, “push them toward the Hargrad’s.” The army charged and we were able to push them half way out. Then the Hargrad’s got up and moved and its limbs punched up and attacked the goblins. “Throw in your fire!” I screeched, “Prepare your axes to kill the Hargrad’s.” The Hargrad’s lurched toward us. We hacked them and they squealed in pain and agony. Soon they died but not before an intense battle raged.

I was avoiding a clash with Gorgutz before he could notice me. Suddenly I remembered we had to leave. We hadn’t finished our quest towards my shield and sword. Without them, we would collapse. We were running, running away from the mighty Dragon King Gorgutz who could kill us all with a wave of his arm. “Run, we have to run, so we do not die!” Eric yelled. We were running and it felt like nails in our feet. There was no blood in our limbs and twenty men disintegrated to the Dragon King because they looked back. “Do not look back or you will die!” an elf yelled. Ten men looked back and they turned to stone. That left me with only one hundred soldiers to defeat the five hundred remaining soldiers behind the northern gate.

We were soon in the Valley of Death, there was a storm and it controlled us, throwing us wickedly to the ground and whirled us in the wrong direction. The sand in the storm mixed with bones repeatedly hit us. Our armour was no match for the brute storm. But we finally burst through battered and worn. We inched down the gorge in a fierce fury in search of the Sword of Sustaining Life. In the depths of the deep river lay this Sword of Sustaining Life.

Their eyes fastened to the gleaming of shining silver “Look!” several elves chided simultaneously. “I am going into the River of Life and retrieving that shining silver” Aonghus announced.

He drew a deep breath and dove bravely into the deep of the river. He emerged with the Sword of Sustaining Life held high in triumph. With the Cave of Despair in view Aonghus could see the Shield of Courage glinting off the Sword of Sustaining Life. He used all his might to swim across the River of Life and entered the Cave of Despair. Sword in hand he took hold of the Shield of Courage and felt his divine purpose was now almost complete. With both the weapons together he felt renewed strength and the weapons led him towards the final judgment area where he and Gorgutz would fight to the death. Six excruciating hours later they were approached.

“You are nothing; you will not stand before me without a fight I will never give up. You are worthless but none the less a coward!” Aonghus bravely spoke. Gorgutz landed and jumped off his dragon eagerly but angrily. “Aonghus you will die under my sword and I will live forever!” he screeched maniacally. The first blow came knocking Aonghus off of his feet then Aonghus came up with a blast of sheer energy and struck Gorgutz through the heart and his sword was obliterated and his shield was nothing after the blow Gorgutz was living and Aonghus took Gorgutz’s sword and chopped of his head.

“VICTORY!” everyone screamed there were cheers and salutes to me the new king of Ashgarn. There was a great feast, and the peace was restored to the land for many years to come.
