This is a spot for posting what you think the Bible teaches about a particular subject. These will be something like devotions, written sermons, or essays, something that will hopefully give the other people on the site a new way to look at spiritual truth or at the very least a reminder of something they may have forgotten. Like in the member's art section, one person will post an essay and others can discuss it after the post. However, I'm going to be policing this section very closely. It's one thing to say "This is what I think about something" and quite another to say "This is what God says about that thing." If, for any reason, I think your essay is not acceptable, I will take it down. I won't worry about the discussion of that essay so much, feel free to argue and debate that, but the original essay should be something that I believe furthers the cause of Christ. Also, I only want Christians writing these essays. If you're not a Christian, then I don't feel that you should be interpreting the Bible and telling others how to follow it. Again, you're free to reply to essays but I don't want you starting them. Here's the steps I'd like people to go through for writing one of these. 1. Start with prayer and meditation on God and his word. Make sure you are thinking clearly before instructing others. Matthew 15:14 says, "If a blind man leads a blind man, both will fall into a pit." 2. Consider your topic. Is it something personal for you or is it good for instructing everyone? If it's just for you, there's no need to share it. Also, is it too basic? There's no real need to tell everyone that God wants you to be nice, tell us something we don't already know. If it's something that's too complex, deep, or meaningless, you should probably avoid it too. Lessons about the body being in three parts (body, soul, and spirit) instead of two really don't impact my daily life. Same for something like premillenialism. 3. Consider if you have something that would be better suited for the debate section. This isn't a place to grind your axe; if you're arguing for a specific point that you know is mainly going to spark a bunch of controversy, make it a debate and not a lesson. 4. Write it up and sit on it, for at least 24 hours. Make sure it's something you should really be posting. If so, then go ahead. |

So we can never say with confidence that we know what the Bible is teaching? I'm confused. |

Okay. Unlike any other place on the forums, this is the place for you to say with confidence that you know what the Bible is teaching. The rules are so harsh because I believe such a task should not be done lightly. Speak with confidence, but make sure that confidence is justified. |

I strongly object that statement. The Bible is free for anyone to learn and interpret for. Many Christian Religions have different views on the Bible. Like Baptist, Episcopalian, Iglesians and Catholics alike. They interpret the Bible differently. I would also like to ask the question: "What if the person believes in God but is not a Christian entirely?" Are they not restricted to interpret the Bible? The Muslims, yes, the Muslims too. Part of their religion says that they should believe in the Old Testament and the New Testament as Word from God Himself. What if someone Muslim joins the community? Then what? It's like your asking for ONE VIEW only. Can you lighten that rule for members(and future members) up a bit? |

hi Ezi ARAZEC here the continually turned on one. Your reply would make a great DEBATE topic...... But this is the essay topic so I guess if you dont agree with the guidelines and seeing as there is no stringent testing prior to posting if one considers onesself a christian one would feel free to reply in this thread-however !!!! one might find onesself edited........ or one might make a thread titled "non-christians interpreting the bible" or "old testiment believing Jesus was a nice guy muslim perspective" whose guidelines might read - 1. Koran readers permitted only ???? but then again I am not certain if members are permitted to make guidelines or enforce them for that matter....life is just not fair

The problem is: Let's say that christens are the humans, and other religions are the monkeys (I'm not trying to express our dominance here, just knowledge of the bible). If we let the monkeys on typewriters along with the humans, there are going to be problems. Yes, given an infinite amount of time, monkeys, and typewriters, an amazing piece of literature (*cough*Shakespeare*cough*) could be produced. On the other hand, there would be a lot of "monkey business" getting thrown around, and the mods and admins would have to clean it up. Being a mod, I approve of Drunken's rules. And yes, I made reference to the "monkeys with infinite typewriters" theory. (I wonder if Curley would like to try and prove that theory for us? It would be like Mythbusters!) In reply to Arazec: You can make all the rules you want, but admins and mods are the executive branch. ![]() Seriously though, the problems that could come with that would be bad. Religion is just too touchy a subject (especially now, with the conflicts in the middle east.) for there not to be strict rules. Edited by Blaze, 30 Nov 2008, 06:16 PM.

But that still proves that you agree with my ONE VIEW point. Muslims also read the Bible and this is just about MORAL LESSONS not how they depict Jesus' Birth or anything... ( By the way, you guys should really see the Muslim Baby Jesus. He was pretty cool. He could talk to animals and make an oasis in the desert!) |

hi again ezi you just dont get it do you? this is a dictatorship i know drunky can get a little confusing saying "this is a section to post what you think the bible says about a certain topic" and then he says "but i only want Christians writing it" and then he says "if your not christian you shouldnt be interpreting the bible" but hey maybe thats why not many people post because they are afraid of the drunky meter of correct interpretation vs personal revelation yes he rules with an iron fist but he is very much loved why dont you just try to post something and stop whinging ?i would be interested to see if he "takes you down" or if blaze thinks your a trouble making thinking monkey or eerrm a more evolved species.......????

furthermore......personally.... I dont care much for text book regurgitation on topics of the bible- if you havnt experienced failure ,a certain amount of pain, loss, hardship and overcome things in your life i really dont think your qualifyed to teach what the bible says anyway.....you may be good at theology but real life application of the word I respect-otherwise your not qualifyed to tell me about the issues my life |
