its pretty easy to face the truth about someone else but when it comes to facing the truth about ourselves and our behaviour most people run from it........ In Psalm 51 King David is crying out to God for mercy and forgivness because the lord had been dealing with him about his sin with Bathsheba and the murder of her husband-pretty much if i remember correctly he was in love with this married women (Bathsheba) and so he (King David) sent her husband out to the front lines knowing he would have a good chance of dying. Verse 6 of the psalm says- "behold, you desire truth in the inner being, make me therefor to know wisdom in my innermost heart" this is a really powerfull scripture because he is actually asking God to show him the truth about himself well it just so happens that this psalm was written one year after this sin wih Bathsheba but he had never really faced or acknowledged it.He was not facing the truth and as long as he refused to face the truth he could not truely repent.and as long as he as he could not truely repent God could not forgive him. truth is such a powerfull thing John 1;5 says In him was Life, and the life was the light of men. and the light shines on in darkness ,for the the darkness has never overpowered it The bible says that darkness has never overpowered the light, and it never will and that truth is light and Jesus says that the truth will set us free !!! Its not something i pray everyday ....God search my innermost heart......but i think i am gonna start ...... . Edited by ARAZEC, 22 Oct 2008, 07:31 AM.

I think I will start too. The interesting thing about the John 1:5 passage is what it says in John 3:19-20 "And this is the judgment: the light has come into the world, and people loved the darkness rather than the light because their works were evil. For everyone who does wicked things hates the light and does not come to the light, lest his works should be exposed." I think this is another good verse in what your saying. We don't want to look at ourselves, and ask God to reveal to us what we need to improve on becasue we love the darkness. If we come into the light our wickedness will be exposed. We feel like we're standing naked in front of everyone. We prefer to remain ignorant to our own sin. |

witness !!! how true ! to add to that people I've spoken to about relationship with Jesus sometimes have a hard time imagining what this would be like. 'cause God created us for this purpose hes just waiting on the sidelines for you to invite him into your life. When you look at the truth about yourself you often realise there bits you dont like, theres shame, there may be anger, unforgiveness, doubt, hopelessness, fear etc.........etc........etc.......etc.......etc.........etc........etc....... etc........etc.....stuff you wanna hide like adam in the garden of eden when god called after the fall. but the thing is theres no-one or nothing in life thats gonna replace the relationship with Jesus because no-matter how you feel, what you've done, what you continue to do,how you feel about yourself, how you feel about others,no disgusting vile thing thats ever, ever gonna seperate you from his love- theres no other relationship that accepts and loves you unconditionally search the world, everything in it and you wont find it accept his love, mercy and grace and then you will no longer need to imagine this type of relationship or do anything to get it -its free just go for it !!! you wont look back he wont leave you ever....or change his mind about you when he gets to know you -cause guess what ? he already does and because of what jesus did on the cross he dosnt see you through your sin he sees you how he created you perfect and lovely |

Amen, This is why we should continually try to live our lives for Him. It is amazing how many "Christians" don't know that Christ wants a relationship with them. |

Yeah. A lot of times I catch myself doing something and then coming up with reasons after the fact of why it was a good idea. We rationalize a lot and it's not good. |

yes stinky he certainly does....... and while we are on the subjet i'd like to add when we are searching ourselves for truth that we dont fall into self justification. by that i mean forgetting if only from time to time that it is by faith we enter the Kingdom of God. Now it is an easy trap for many of us to in vain attempt to rid ourself of moral sin and the flip-side can only be confusion because well.........we can search and find and then search some more and find more, adjust and then search and then well......some ppl may get a tad hopeless and depressed 'cause well shock horror your always gonna make mistakes, stuff up and be ummm less than purrfect. so yes we strive to walk in obediance but what we really have to "get" is that the real way we walk in obediance or "in the light" is to obey Gods command to love (see John 2 chapter 5 verses 2-3 in the Bible so also while I am at it l*prepare for Arazec rant let me comment on what the book of john says about teachers speacifically false teachers. see even today theres gonna be those ppl who will confuse you and try to convince you that you dont have the whole truth 'cause you dont agree with them so therefor your spiritually or intellectually immature or are missing some sacrament or you only have "part" of the truth, well be encouraged because (forgive me but I'm really into the book of John at the moment) the apostle John wrote about this saying basically that a realationship that was personal with christ was vital and that an "infatile" position was proper for a Christian in that respect and that once we started to advance beyond that we would really step outta truth and into error. So he was warning the readers of his letter both then and now to resist those teachers who sort to distort the truth. love in Practise (learn more by reading about genuine christian love in 3 John) |

not sure but wanted to comment more on this topic...do u have a type of religious spirit? do u seek your own glory? are you one thats impressed or preoccupied by recognition? are you a person who is easily offended because you are not received by a title or claim to a position? well then if you are honest about this aspect of yourself and find that the answer is yes-then we have just exposed one the the enemies tricks ! you see there is a difference between being a person who is motivated by a desire of acceptance rather than love for the Lord and union with HIS purposes. if you are tricked by this ( as i was JUST THIS WEEK) THEN BREAK THE CYCLE ! where ever their is sin there is a wound-ones that get infected without proper dressing and closure. the way there is repentance ! when you repent you are humbling youreslf which makes an entrance that some of Gods grace can get in-true humility is saying God i NEED YOU- DONT BE TRICKED ! keep yourself forgiving others too "But the wisdom from above is first pure, then peaceable, gentle, reasonable, full of mercy and good fruits, unwavering, without hypocrisy. And the seed whose fruit is righteousness is sown in peace by those who make peace" James 3;17-18 |

Nice and one thing I'd like to add is that we should all try something called auto liberation which is like confession but directly to God. We make ourselves naked before God, transparent really, and make ourselves blameless so that the Devil can't use that against us. I learned that from the Profetess Ana Mendez Ferrell, an amazing General in the Lord's Armies (Voiceofthelight.com) who does that before commencing spiritual warfare. She's popular here in the U.S. |
